Due to the impact of COVID, this class will be limited in size.

The objective of this course is to cover the topic of home defense and the information most relevant to the use of the shotgun as a tool of home defense, including:

Selection/configuration of the defensive shotgun
Proper ammunition selection
Reliable loading and operation of the shotgun
Shooting technique and recoil management
Patterning

By the end of the course, students will demonstrate competence in the handling, loading, and rapid, accurate use of the shotgun at common home defense distances. At the end of the day students will shoot a shotgun qualification course.

Equipment requirements -

Ideally, a shotgun. If you do not have a shotgun set up for home defense to train with, let me know and we can arrange for a loaner you can use during class.
Some method of carrying at least 25 shells on your person.
A brimmed cap
Ballistic-rated eye protection
Hearing protection (electronic preferred)

Ammunition -

150 rounds of LEAD birdshot and 50 rounds of buckshot, preferably at least 10 rounds of buckshot you would consider using for home defense
Obviously at this point in time, whatever LEAD shot you can get your hands on will have to do. We'll work with whatever you bring. For safety reasons we can't allow steel shot or slugs.

I'm signed up and can't wait. For those who might need some premium ammo for the class, it appears www.streichers.com has federal tactical flight control in stock
