Now that Troy's Pump Action Rifle has been out for a few years, does anyone have reliable information on how well it works? Reliability, accuracy, durability? I'm not looking for "just buy an AR15". It might be a viable option for ban locations and travel.

I found the action a little stiff but was pleasantly surprised by the accuracy. I've only tried the .308 but if you want my thoughts on it at the time, they're here:

Overall, thought it was pretty good, for what it is.

I think a good idea for a ban state..... a pump should be fastest manually cycled gun....I know Remington's pump rifle was not good.
Must be hard to produce or make reliable....Always thought that Rem pump with a 10 round mag would be a great practical/defensive ban state/travel type gun.

AFAIK, CA still bases long gun AWB on the pistol grip. Which makes these a decent (or better) option.

That's an interesting gun and better looking that the usual compliant NYS ARs. Anybody shoot one of them?

I handled but did not shoot one last year, but once I decided to leave this hellhole of a state I more or less lost interest. I’m a little surprised that I didn’t see pistol versions on their website, though - it would make for a reasonable travel pistol with a folding brace.

CA bases their AWB primarily on the rifle being semi-auto, and then by it's scary features:

My buddies that are in the business down there report that ARs with grip fins and other compliance kludges still outsell things like the SCR/manually operated rifles by a pretty wide margin. M1As, mini-14s and the like sell okay-ish also.

From your link:
12276.1 (a) Notwithstanding Section 12276, "assault weapon" shall also mean any of the following:
A semiautomatic, centerfire rifle that has the capacity to accept a detachable magazine and any one of the following:
A pistol grip that protrudes conspicuously beneath the action of the weapon.
A thumbhole stock.
A folding or telescoping stock.
A grenade launcher or flare launcher.
A flash suppressor.
A forward pistol grip.
I recall seeing a draft of Newsom's "Ima get famous and be elected guvn'r with this thing" ballot measure that basically captured all semi-auto rifles, but apparently he figured out there were enough old Fudds who would wake up if he required them to register their .30-06 BARs.
