You should be able to get that loan. The IRS is putting money in my bank account and I didn't even ask for it. It just showed up there yesterday. WTF.

Do they make them in orange? If so, could that be written off as a bidness expense?

Do not tell them that. You need to proceed along the lines of too-big-to-fail. :D Disabled veteran will surely get you into the 3 year wait line.

Seems like something to discuss with your healthcare provider not your government.

When I first moved out on my own, I tried to eat super cheap. Basically my meals consisted of ramen noodles and Carl Buddig deli meats.

A few weeks of doing that and I don’t think I’ll ever be able to eat either again. In fact the thought makes me feel queasy.

I ate so much tuna on the job I had high levels of mercury. My doc said it was impossible but he never ask how much tuna I ate. A few years later medical studies confirmed it was possible. I should have been a test case. :D

Ok, semi-serious question ... are there any good, understandable sources of info for veteran-owned small business considerations, issues? I wouldn't even know how to begin a search for them.

From my friends (/sarc) at Chase.

As predicted, the SBA’s Paycheck Protection Program was hugely popular. In fact, we have learned the SBA has approved loans that will exhaust all the funding available for the initial round.

We have notified all of our customers who received funding in the first round. We understand that many of you are disappointed, and are frustrated because we haven’t updated you on the status of your application. We will do better, starting in the next few days.

Congress is currently considering another round of funding. In the interim, we’re committed to:

Continuing to work our existing queue of applications so we can be ready,

Contacting you with any questions,

Emailing you on the status of your application and

Letting you know if and when additional SBA funding is available

We realize how important these SBA funds are to your business. We’re doing all we can to have your application ready.

Thank you for being a Chase customer.

Translation:

Your loan request was too small for us to bother with. We know we suck at keeping you updated on status.
We look forward to fucking you again on the next round too, but we promise to talk more while we do it.

Our SBA impact request was submitted on day 1. Zero feedback from SBA.
Our PPP loan request was submitted on day 1 to Chase, with all the paperwork submitted electronically on day 3, which was the first day Chase was taking fully electronic submissions.

Can't help but wonder what the cutoff was for Chase to bother with your loan request. I'm gonna guess $500K minimum.

The initial program was 349 billion. That's all gone and the do nothing millions club can't agree on addition funding. Big shocker there. It's estimated that 1 trillion is needed to prop up small business now, about 3x the original program. Small businesses employ about half the nations workforce. I have a feeling a lot of those businesses will just disappear and high unemployment will be the norm for a long time. But I think we already know that.

I'm with Key Bank. My request was roughly $150K. To keep from being overwhelmed, Key was taking requests in windows of time, I was in the third group. I believe it was Sunday (4/5) after they announced the SBA was taking applications. I received an email on 4/16 saying that my money was secured from the SBA and closing documents would be forthcoming. I am not holding my breath. My lawyer (who's turned out to be a great dude the last two weeks) is on call to review the paperwork thoroughly. I am going to be reviewing these loan docs very thoroughly for "gotcha's".

When the PPP was announced I did quite a bit of soul searching about whether or not I should apply. I'm philosophically opposed to most government aid. I realized that if I didn't take the money and ended up laying everyone off, they would go on unemployment, and the money would still be coming from the same pot. There's a small possibility that I might be able to manage this disaster without losing any employees without taking the aid, but that risk was too great for us.

Alaska was one of the states that provided a $600 a week increase to basic unemployment payments. In Alaska, your benefits would top out at $50,440 a year. Every non-management person in my business would make more on unemployment than working every day. They removed the requirement that you must actually look for work to receive unemployment. I sat down with all my employees and worked out our plan. They were fully aware that they would make more money taking unemployment, yet not one wanted to be laid off. I guess they trust me more than the government at this point. Their loyalty will be rewarded when we get to the other side of this.

I signed my closing documents this a.m. I also found out that my wife and I don't get the $1200 stimulus check due to our S-corp doing o.k. last year even though I really didn't see that money. No big deal on that, I saw a tax benefit that exceeded $2400 by being an S corp on our business. I'd prefer not to take that money anyway.

That fuckin' burns me up. I hope you get some sort of resolution. Some of our local small banks/credit unions completely dropped the ball on this one. One of the my friends has emails that supplied all the info requested and the banker basically admitted they didn't see his stuff in their email. They did give him line of credit equal to the PPP amount and they are hoping the next wave of PPP is funded to cover it.

The SBA payments to the lenders are currently showing as follows:

i. Five (5) percent for loans of not more than $350,000;
ii. Three (3) percent for loans of more than $350,000 and less than $2,000,000; and
iii. One (1) percent for loans of at least $2,000,000

You'd imagine a banker could do some quick math to help prioritize files.

That's encouraging... Thanks! We're a small-small biz, looking for less than half that lower number.

I'm involved with another totally separate startup business that banks at a community bank.... Those guys were genuinely trying to be helpful but that business has no official (941-type) payroll. We had to lay off 4 people who were working in our store when the mall closed and the income went to zero. We used a temp/contracting service to handle payroll and benefits, so those employees were officially 1099's. We tried to apply for PPP so we could continue to pay them, but contractors have a separate path through that process. We were able to give them some guidance and some cash, but ultimately they had to apply for PPP on their own. I wish that bank could have handled my other PPP.

In the past 3 days our application at Chase went from stage 1 (Ignore) to stage 3 (Application reviewed, Payroll confirmed, awaiting SBA approval) ... Looks like the PPP will get more funding this week, so, things are looking up a bit. Not holding my breath.
