Glock 26 Double Feed Malfunctions

If a Gen3 Glock 26 experiences four double feed malfunctions during a range session, what should a fellow start to investigate?

Pertinent information:

1) New Gun with ~ 700 rounds through it and new magazines
2) Novice Shooter
3) Shooting Winchester White Box 115 grain
4) Range Session was 200 rounds

Novice + WWB + Glock can often equal problems.

When you say "double feed" do you specifically mean that the spent cartridge case failed to extract and the top round of the magazine is trying to load into the chamber behind it?

Did the problems occur shooting 2H, SHO, or WHO? (2 handed, strong hand only, weak hand only)

Did the problem occur with the same magazine or different magazines?

Did the problem occur on the first or last round of the mag each time, or randomly?

Was the gun properly cleaned and lubricated?

Yes, the spent cartridge case failed to extract and the top round of the magazine is trying to load into the chamber behind it. [I think it is called a Type 3 malfunction.]

The shooter was shooting 2H.

The problem occurred with the same magazine. He merely brought one to the range.

The double feeds occurred randomly.

And the gun was clean and light/moderately lubricated with generic gun oil.

What do you think it might be?

Have other more experienced shooters shot the gun? What would help determine if it is a limp-wristing situation.

Just an idea- check thumb placement as well. The shooter could be actuating the slide lock and not even be aware of it.

I'd have an experienced Glock shooter try the gun, and I'd try a different magazine. If both of those things still result in stoppages, then the gun needs to be looked at.

In summary, you are more inclined to believe this is a user malfunction. The best guess is 'limp wrist' right? However, the shooter might be actuating the slide lock accidentally.

If it isn't a user malfunction, it might be the magazine.

I will take note of each of these issues and see what happens.

An aside, I don't doubt that a magazine can cause one of these malfunctions. However, I'm ignorant of how it happens. Could you describe how it causes this malfunction? If the explanation is too cumbersome, don't sweat it. I was just trying to learn from y'all.

If the feed lips allow the top round in the mag to interfere with the proper extraction of the spent casing when the barrel tilts downward, it could happen.

If the spring tension on the top round in mag is weak enough, when the slide begins moving backwards that top round could "slip" and begin trying to feed under inertia instead of by being pushed forward by the slide itself. This early feeding could inhibit the spent case from extracting.

Check the extractor to make sure it's not chipped.

You'd be surprised at how many times I have seen a used Glock missing the spring loaded bearing part due to someone taking a You Tube armorer's course and detailing their gun out themselves.
