I picked up an APX Target to complement my existing APX and I'm sort of glad that I did. It has a couple of extra features that were hard to confirm remotely on the Internet, so I'm glad that I have one now and that I can confirm that in addition to the listed features (RDO, Fiber Optic/blacked out rear sights, no-grooves frame, longer barrel/slide, 4 mags in the box, green striker), it has a distinctly enlarged magazine release and slide stop/release, and has had significant work done on the internal design to improve lockup and barrel/recoil spring/slide fitment. They've made clear changes to the front of the slide, the recoil spring design, and the barrel design.

I'm hoping to get out to do some accuracy testing with it, which will prove to be interesting. :)

And since I'm going to be doing some testing with shot timers at my next range trip with my new shot timer (indoor range friendly! Thanks P-F), I should also get to see if there is any significant difference in behavior on the timer between a no-groove and finger-grooved frame, since I can swap the frames on the guns around. While it's mostly irrelevant, it will be a fun experiment.

I like my APX pistols. I am definitely interested in the tighter lockup idea, although my full-size has been plenty accurate for 3gun blasting.

But is it still the homely Beretta sister?

I didn’t know these existed. Seems heavy at 31 ounces empty. Who’s make AIWB holsters for these?

Not sure if aiwb holsters for race guns are a priority for the manufacturers...

I get what you’re saying but I use to carry a 34 appendix. The APX target is pretty standard sized.

Fair statement, but you're either looking at an open-bottom aiwb holster or custom kydex with a pistol that new if the slide and barrel are longer than the regular full size. To took a loooong time for g34/35's to have anything resembling a selection of holsters for that carry method.

I have seen some APX full size aiwb rigs, so either one of those and heat gun open the bottom, or something like that.

Then there is the whole "green spring is not recommended for carry" discussion, kind of like a super light agency match trigger in a Glock.

I'm pretty sure the guy that owns Keepers Concealment ( http://keepersconcealment.com ) - the ad that's probably at the top of this page (at least on my page it is) - was a long time G34/G35 AIWB carrier and made a whole bunch of holsters for that gun.

I'm going to be getting some pictures out. I took it out to the range today, so that was fun.

As for the green striker, I am going to need to break the trigger in over a period of many rounds and see what that's about. It breaks heavier than my stock, worn in trigger by quite a lot, but that could almost entirely be due to the lack of break in at this point. I think I might have also "done something" unintentionally with my stock trigger, because it seems lighter than what others experience.

Anyways, I can see the green striker being attractive on the competition oriented Target, and it's definitely a good addition for this gun in total. Depending on how it breaks in, it's probably going to fall into that "VP9/PPQ" range, where you have to consider whether that's the trigger you want or not. You can put a manual safety on the gun, of course, if you prefer.

Other than that, the gun was accurate, reliable, and shot well for me, though I was extremely consistently hitting right with the sights and lighting. A couple more range sessions are needed before I will know whether the sights are just off or whether it is just lighting conditions.

This APX looks very promising. And it is optic ready. I'll be curious to see how the trigger performs as it wears in a bit.

Quick question... what does the "IT19" stamped on the receiver signify? I see that on my 1301T, and am just curious.

It honestly looks really nice, the longer slide makes the dimensions pop and the grey looks great.

My APX fullsize might get a friend!
