I am a long time Shadow System fan and have 5 or so MR920s.
Personally I use the frame and sell everything else. I strip internal parts and sell the slide too. Then use oem Glock for everything
My MR920s were pre CR920 release and I had 2 sticky triggers and 3 guns that didn't cycle right/light strikes.
No issues once I swapped everything to oem Glock. 50k rounds on one.
Their QC and customer service has gotten substantially worse since the CR920. Even frames are coming out of spec now. I had 3 CR920s.
Two had to go back and were still not running when returned. What was annoying to me is on one of them i told them more about how to potentially fix the issue vs their techs. They were sold to buyers at a steep discount with full disclosure.
The one that did run my buddy purchased. But as his round counts have increased his is acting up too.
Another friend brought a new MR920 and DR920 and had a broker firing pin (MR920) and dead trigger (DR920) within 800 rounds. His MR920 frame was also out of spec and had to go back for return to battery/light primer strike issues. He was reissued a brand new frame with a different serial from SS.
I would not buy a SS going forward after my CR920 experiences. In fact my CR920 experiences were so poor that I started using a P365XL as my CCW and general purpose gun (which my wife has been hoping for anyways).
I do love the ones I have. A complete Gen 4 oem Glock slide and Glock internals will get you in a good place.
SS customer service and warranties have been overwhelmed. One of my CR920s was there for over 2 months, came back still finicky.
I have a question for you. I was looking at buying a Gen 4 slide to have on hand in case my MR290 starts acting up. However everywhere I look these Gen 4 slides cost almost as much as a whole new G19 - sometimes more than a full blue label G19.
I did find a 19X slide for a decent price, so my question is: will a 19X work on MR920 Frame?
I'm not sure what Gen the 19X is/was, but I'm wondering if it would work on a MR920 frame.
Does anyone know if this would work?

If may it is not ideal but it can work.
If you want a gen 4 G19 slide cut for a 509T give me a shout!

Thank you for the offer, but I'm already sitting on two RMR's otherwise I'd take you up on it.
As for the 19X slide not being ideal, what makes you say that? If it's something like just swapping out a back plate then I really don't care. If it's something more involved where I have to start making cuts into the slide or frame then I'll probably skip that idea for now.

More the ambi safety cut on the slide. That said it will run. I jsut prefer a gen 4

TXPONice! From the zippered bag I'd say that's an LE purchase program gun?
Shot a few rounds through my DR today. Continue to enjoy that gun.

Yeah, been eyeing the 920 for a bit and local LE dealer happen to have the elite in stock. I was looking at the combat, but figured why not, I have played with optics a little, so at least this one is setup for it.
Protector program is hard to pass up on these. Plus they are made here in Texas, what's not to like.
Plus I have missed my 918 ever since I sold it. I do feel the 920 was an improvement, despite the optic cut design, which is most definitely one of the best out there.

Will the OEM Glock striker assembly drop in with the rectangular cut in the breech face? Since I've only had an issue with light strikes with Norma 124 with my MR918, I'm wondering if maybe it's at least partly the striker. Is there some bomb diggity aftermarket striker that's better than OEM?

I just pulled an RMR and replaced it with a 407CO on a MR920. As I zeroed the Holosun with the Wheeler, I looked at the BUIS. That front sight sight looks short, so I am guessing irons will print high. Embarrassed to say I haven't shot the BUIS at distance. Thoughts?

Did you test that before installing the optic, or after shooting the irons through the display?

Before installing optic. Unf I don't run any mr920 oem slides anymore and only oem glock now

I turned the optic off and shot a group with iron sights at 15 yards, and it was definitely high as I expected based on the relationship between the iron sights and dot. Nothing a slightly taller front sight wouldn't fix.
After shooting my MR920 today, along with a similarly configured G4 19, and considering all the pros and cons, for my use I don't see an advantage over my Gen 4 and 5 pistols. My four Shadow pistols all run, but it is probably time to send them down the road.

Since there have been a number of complaints about accuracy and overall QC with the new SS pistols I wanted to see what my MR918 and oldest MR920 could actually do. Both wear 508t-Gs, V1 on the 918 and V2 on the 920. They were zeroed freehand at 20ish yards so they were off a few clicks at 25 yards when shot from a rest (kneeling, wrists on my soft pistol case on a wheeled range cart). These were the last groups of 5 with HST 124 +P. There were some extraneous holes from walking them on to the targets so I'm not 100% sure which of the upper 2 holes on the 918 target goes with the other 4, but I'm pretty pleased with their mechanical potential for accuracy. Reckon I could come down a click on the 920 but since the dot is a little kidney shaped that's probably good enough. 9690196902

They are only doing the Elite for commercial sales, correct?
My MR920 had been running fine with Glock mags, but I had a failure to feed on the first round from slide lock while shooting the Bakersfield Qual as a demo in a class last week.
The leading edge on the chamber does appear to be sharp compared to an XR920 that was available for comparision.

It’s pretty easy to fit an SCD onto an MR920.
I think mine took about 2 min with a Dremel to the SCD lip.

My MR920 Combat was purchased just weeks before the release of the Foundation series.
The XR920 was produced within the last month.

Gun shoots phenomenally. I put 300 rounds through the gun on my first range session with zero failures. W/irons I feel like it shoots lower than expected at 10 yards w/the neutral and low back strap (my preferred setup), and flatter with high “glock” back strap. This surprised me. I prefer a 1911, CZ, M&P M2.0 style grip angle, but oddly shot the “glock” style better at first. My last 100 rounds of the day were sighting in 507C RD and some low ready drills. I t was during these drills that the low back strap was more on point for me in a rapid response situation. I will likely continue to test between the high and low straps. TRIGGER: there is NO WAY this is a 4.5-5lb trigger. I consistently get 5.5lb pulls at the bottom of the trigger shoe, and 6-6.5lbs at the middle of the safety blade or lower 1/3 of the trigger. Also, the pad of my finger gets caught between the trigger guard and trigger, causing some blistering. Hopefully this subsides, but I do not experience this on my other guns. I feel like the trigger has a nice defined wall and break, and would feel very similar to my PDP if it were lighter. MAG RELEASE: it a little tight. Dropping mags is not easy.; Feels like it requires more force to drop. OPTIC MOUNT: Love the design so far. Stayed zeroed through 100rds. Only time will tell if it holds up. SLIDE RELEASE: My dominant hand thumb hits the slide release at times, preventing slide lock on empty. That's a me problem. So far, I've been very happy with the gun (still early in the break in process) but look forward to running it more.
BREAK IN: I know many people have experienced failures of some kind during the break in period, and so far I've had zero issues related to the gun. So, I want to share my process of breaking in the MR920. May not work for all, but so far, so good. First off, I stripped and cleaned the gun except for the trigger components. Comes with some kind of factory grease SS states to leave alone. They have a Technical Tuesday video I followed for cleaning. After this, I started with 230 dry fire trigger pulls over the course of 3 days, using a laser cartridge as well as 12 dummy rounds. After that, I took it to the range and started off with Winchester Nato 124gr for 100rds. I believe they're similar to a +P round. Then moved to Herters 115gr range ammo for 150rds, then ended the day with Federal American Eagle 147gr (flat nose) for 50rds. I used both the Pmag and OEM Glock 19 mags, all new. Not once was it out of battery, no failure to feed or eject. Ran great. So far very happy with it. Contemplating if I should clean it or keep running it for another couple hundred rounds? If this pattern continues, it'll be my new carry gun.
Cheers!

I recently purchased a very lightly used SS MR920 Elite. I've put about 200 rounds through it with no malfunctions.
Here are some comparisons with my Glock 19 Gen 5. Both are equipped with Holosun 508Ts: G19 has the GPT.
Weight unloaded:
MR920E = 1.324 lbs
G19 = 1.424 lbs
Trigger:
MR920E = 5 lbs. 9.9 oz
G19 = 4 lbs 9.5 oz
The MR920E has some features that I find "better" than the G19 Gen 5: frame texture, slide serrations, RDS mounting system, undercut trigger guard, and longer beaver tail. The GPT is certainly an improvement over the MR920E trigger. All that said, the MR920E isn't really much different from or better than a G19 Gen 5. Both are fine pistols IMHO.

I have noticed a strange wear pattern on the barrel of my MR920. The worn area is rough. Maybe even galled. Looking at the corresponding area on the slide I see no issues. My XR920 threaded barrel is worn evenly across this same area and is smooth.
I installed the original non-threaded barrel from my XR920 in the MR920 with some grease in the lockup area. The barrel from the XR seemed to show even contact across this surface in the grease, if not a little more on the opposite side of the barrel than the original MR barrel.
The gun has had one failure to feed in 1018 rounds. The nose of the bullet hung up on the feed ramp. I dropped the mag, inspected it, then it chambered when I reinserted the mag. I got the impression that the recoil springs was a little weak, so I installed an OEM Glock RSA. That was around the 750 round mark.
I am looking for opinions on if this looks like something to be concerned about.

Shadow Systems has requested I send the pistol in for further evaluation. They have been more responsive this time than I experienced previously, even sending the initial response on Sunday night.
I admit I am a little nervous about how this is going to go.
I am thankful to have a GSSF coupon in hand, just in case. :p
