So I find myself without a single action revolver at the moment but I'm bidding on a .45 Convertible on GB to rectify this. In the mean time would love to see pics of single actions. Show off your guns, holsters, hunting pics, talk about loads and carry setups. All that good stuff.

Some of my pics to get started.

The Blackhawk in .45 Colt I sold that I should have sent off to have a .45 ACP cylinder fitted for.
47269

The Pietta .357 that was kind of a lemon.
47270

And the Heritage Rough Rider that I shot the crap out of.
47271

All of these will be replaced with Rugers at some point. It's taken longer than it should have.

And a cool revolver I saw at a museum.

Thanks. They did a good job on it. Hammer draw is about 5 1/2 lbs and smooth as glass, and lights S&B, Fiocci, Magtech, and Winchester primers 100% Trigger is 2 1/4 and perfect.

I made those wood grips from Black Walnut, but it usually wears micarta.

It hasn't ended yet but here's hoping.

That's a nice Blackhawk. I almost bought a exactly like that but with ebony grips. LGS had it for a very reasonable price but I want a stainless one.

I won the auction for the Blackhawk I wanted so hopefully in about a week I'll be the owner of a stainless Bisley Blackhawk convertible. Not sure if I'll keep it as a Bisley or change to a plow handle grip frame.

It just says upgraded custom grips. Looks like they're made out of some material for kitchen counters or something but the fit looks good.

I know where some grip makers hang out, if you want I can post the link and see what they think. They look like some kind of buckeye or burl, possibility dyed.

That makes more sense. I don't really care, they look good. If I stick with the Bisley grip frame I'll keep them.

Finally got to pick up my Blackhawk. Aside from being a little dirty you can't tell this thing is used. I'm mostly going to shoot .45acp for fun but I grabbed a box of HSM bear loads to try since it is the larger frame and can take them.

I have an affinity for Uberti’s replicas of the cap and ball conversions. In competition (NCOWS) shooting full case compressed black powder loads I find they work great and really give up nothing to the SAA in terms of speed or accuracy out to 15 yards. Past that the sights get harder to work with.

47700

I had one of mine converted to a pocket pistol (https://www.personaldefenseworld.com/2015/11/pocket-pistoleros-americas-concealed-carry-tradition/)for our side matches for those guns, and it has been a blast to shoot. Mine was intended to resemble the famous pocket pistol used by Dallas Stoudenmire (https://petticoatsandpistols.com/tag/dallas-stoudenmire/) except I really wanted a front sight for it as a competition gun.

47701

I only shoot these black powder or BP substitute although I am certain they are fine with the lighter “cowboy load” versions of the smokeless cartridges. I would never run them with a bunch of a full power smokeless loads. I am pretty sure those pressures would be detrimental to the gun’s life span.

Very cool. I'd like to get a cartridge conversion replica eventually.

Got the Blackhawk out to the range. The Bisley grip frame really does help tame felt recoil and the .45 ACP cylinder is just fun.

I only have one, a SBH 5.5" that is nothing special:
47797
Tripped across it at a funshow when I was trolling for something completely different, but for $350 with the pictured Simply Rugged holster I hopped on it. Didn't really need it, never really used it, not gonna sell it. I like the 5.5", probably the only thing I would ever actually use it for might be an Ohio Whitetail, and it needs to be 5" to be legal.

Now that I dug it out of the safe for this picture, perhaps later this evening it might appear in the What Did You Shoot Today thread

I've been turning over the accumulation recently to finish projects and to focus on the things that really interest me. I knew I was going to be near a shop I don't normally frequent so I packed up a couple of things to see if I could get close to my asking price. In true guncrank fashion I ended up trading them plus a little cash to get this very nice, numbers matching Great Western Arms (https://greatwesternarmsco.com/) 5.5" .44 Special that I didn't know I wanted until I started checking it out. According to grip maker Sack Peterson (http://www.sackpeterson.com/) it dates to 1956.

I prefer the balance of the shorter tubes so I was planning on a 4 5/8" .357 Blackhawk (OM or early NM) as my next single action with a 4 5/8" .44 Special BH after that. These are rare enough I was willing to jump.

So I went down to the LGS to let them know I had ordered some stuff and had it sent to them. Plus I had been itching for some cowboy shit lately and they specialize in that so I thought I'd browse a bit. Well it turns out something I had been eyeing for at least a year now. A Cimarron Man With No Name 1851 Navy conversion. If you don't know, these are replicas of the 1851 Navy revolvers used in the Clint Eastwood "Man With no Name" trilogy that were modified to use .38 special blanks while still looking as much like cap and ball revolvers as possible. Not only did they have this gun I had been drooling over for a while, the price on it was as good as the best price I could find online, so I couldn't pass it up.

They were cheap because there is a scrape on the trigger guard on both of them. Bothers me not a bit.

I’ve only put a hundred or so rounds through each one.

Be still my heart.....

Many years ago I shot a ladies tuned up SAA in 357 at a shoot. She handed me a 100 rd box of ammo and told me to shoot it up when I asked if I could try it. Way fun. Ive wanted one in 357 ever since. Having an 1873 carbine in 357 has re-ignited the urge.

Anything you want to trade?

Okay, here's my lone single-action revolver, an Old Model Super Blackhawk whose serial number indicates a 1967 production date. It doesn't shoot too badly.

108349

I've got fewer than 100 rounds of hunting-power ammo remaining, then I'm going to order some coated 240-grain LSWCs and load them to about 950-1000 fps. I no longer hunt, and full .44 Mag thump ain't as much fun as it used to be.

A pair of the same in 45. I’d trade em for a pair of blue/cch US made USFAs too.

I have an unfired pair of USFA Rodeos and and couple other ones that I shoot some. They’re so good I don’t even consider them clones.

357 still seems like an odd pairing in a SAA, but it handles well. Shooting 158gr @ 1220fps was not much different than a 250gr at ~750. I’m very impressed!
