This young man defended his home from a burglar this morning with his trusty rifle. One of the deputies gave him a Sheriff's Office sticker which he promptly and proudly affixed to his rifle.
The burglar was captured by said deputy just before he busted through the door with a set of post hole diggers he had taken from a tool shed in the yard. The boy's mother was on the other side of the door actively prepared to exercise her human right to defend her children.

I'm glad the child didn't have to witness someone dying. Also glad the Deputy got there in time.
Your department Chief?

Our Sheriff's Office responded.
The call came in at 1029. The first wave of deputies was one scene at 1035. Some went to the scene and some (me included) began establishing perimeter in case he ran or there were other suspects and/or a pickup car. He didn't fight at first, but he did when they tried to put him in the patrol car. He can now attest to the efficacy of electronic control devices. He decided to get into the patrol car.

This was a great news story. It made me smile when I read it in the paper. Sheriff Berry's quote made me laugh. I love his quotes.

Love it. "'The Lord was helping us and I was helping him,' said Cade." That kid's got spunk.

Good story, thanks for posting. Tough lil' dude and a good job done by the responding officers.
