I’ve talked about this before, but I finally have all the parts in one place. I like the 2” Model 15. But I don’t want to ruin a collectible one for what I have in mind and haven’t found a beat up one for a decent price. So here’s what I’ve got - and old SB to RB converted (and it’s a BAD conversion) 2” model 10. Which I just brought back from my dads. A 2” 15 barrel and a C&S Extreme Duty rear sight. I’m planning on having the front sight milled off the M15 barrel and having a dovetail cut for a white dot M&P front sight. Then once I get the correct sight height figured out for my carry ammo, I’ll have a custom height sight made by Dawson. Right now I’ve got @$400 invested.

I take it that the hammer was bobbed and the SA notch is still there?

Nope. It came with a second non modified hammer when I bought it.

Sounds like I’m gonna sell it to you. I don’t have a good time frame so I hope you aren’t in a hurry.

You bastidg! Now you got me thinking things about my own Model 10, and how cheap 2" 15 barrels are on Numrich.

Lon, who do you plan to use to do the work? I used to have a couple go-to guys in the Dayton area, but they've died or quit.

I hate to cough up the $$$ for overnight shipping to far-flung pistolsmiths.

Very cool.

I found i had to widen that rear sight with my 2.75" barrel.

Great idea. I wonder if D&L’s rear sight would work too

I shoot USPSA with a gunsmith down by the west Chester area. He and I talked about it a while ago and he said he could do it. I’m gonna check back with him to make sure he still can. He does great 1911/2011 work and has worked on Bianchi Cup wheelguns before so I’m hopeful he can do it. I’ll keep ya updated.

I dig revolver projects, so rock on, but apart from uniquely regulated sights, I'm not sure what all the work gets you. Still a 2" K-frame. Is a round butt preferred? If not (or not essential), I'd save the coin and be patient for a good shooter Model 15 snubby -- you can still regulate the front sight and the frame won't have to be milled for the fixed rear sight.

Whatever you do, if I were in Ohio in need of custom 'smithing, Andy Horvath would be the one.
