Ruger Mark IV 22/45 Mag Insertion Issue

Hi guys,

I have a two-week old Mark IV 22/45 bull barrel (target) model and I am having intermittent issues with inserting magazines. The magazines go 1/2 - 3/4 of the way in and then stops due to an obstruction. After looking closer, the magazines are hitting the sharp protrusion from the mag release button on the inside. If I depress the mag release 1/16” or so the mags will slide in perfectly. Looking at the right side of the frame, the magazine release button isn’t flush but about 1/16” indented. Any advice?

The magazine release button retaining screw needs to be adjusted. It is part 13 in the user manual. Tightening the screw decreases magazine engagement and loosening the screw increases it. Sounds like yours needs to be a bit tighter to allow the magazine to clear the catch during loading.
