Any of our esteemed members have a favorite source for EDC knives? Specifically, I am looking for a Benchmade automatic.

There are more than a few sources, and being able to pick one that is reliable and provides good customer service would help me in my search.

Recommended models would be appreciated as well.

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

The three biggest online retailers that come mind are:
- BladeHQ (www.bladehq.com)
- Knifecenter (www.knifecenter.com)
- Knifeworks (www.knifeworks.com)
I have personally had only positive dealings with all three, albeit some of those transactions years ago.

I will second the recommendations for KnifeCenter and BladeHQ.

I just made a $260 purchase from https://www.arizonacustomknives.com for a knife I've been wanting for a long time. I got a shipping notice 30 min after making the purchase. It should be here soon, and I think y'all are going to like it :-)

I've had good experiences at KnifeCenter and BladeHQ.

Blue Line gear (https://www.bluelinegear.com/), Empire Outfitter (https://empireoutfitter.com/), USA Made Blade (https://www.usamadeblade.com/) and Monkey Edge (https://www.monkeyedge.com/Default.asp).

They've always been great for me, Excellent selection and customer service.

Wondering Beard you are actually responsible for the recent purchase that cost me half the money I got from the gun I just sold. Thanks buddy.

You are quite welcome. After all, you introduced me to Ban Tang's knives a few years back and .. well now I have more than a few. I can only but return the favor :-)

Oh and .. pics or it didn't happen. ;-)

Will do. Hint: what's kind of like a Ban Tang Disciple, but different? I think you may have one or two.

I’ve been very happy with monkeyedge, but I just order a winkler directly from winkler knives. This way I get exactly what I want.

If you have the luxury of time, going direct works very well.

Hmm.

Off the top of my head, I would say a Ban Tang SAF Pikal, but I think that they were all sold out a while ago on the websites I linked. So my next guess would be a Watson Pikal through Blue Line gear? If that's a correct guess, it's a great knife and yeah I have a couple.

This, plus AZ custom, and several of the others mentioned. Since nobody has added GPknives, I will:

https://www.gpknives.com/

I’ve bought several eagerly anticipated Spydercos from them over the years. They get their allotments of new models as fast, or faster than anyone, IME.

Is my go to for most things. DLT has always provided me awesome customer service, great communication, and are very nice people in general.

Man, they have some nice knives. Especially for a fan of (relatively) affordable big blades. I’m on a hiatus from buying gear for a while, but I’ll be back to that site at some point.

Gpknives.com. Their physical store is right down the road from me.

They are just up the road from me (about 90-minutes). So you know, if you need me to go buy you anything/go hands on and hang on to it for awhile, just let me know. ;)

Agree with all these, and with dlttrading and gpknives, listed earlier in the thread. If I was forced to pick one go-to: bladehq. Good prices, great site information that lets you sort and search by what criteria you want (type of blade, steel, price range, etc), great service.

Another one--if interested in fixed blades like ESEE and the ability to customize them with custom handles and other details: https://theknifeconnection.com/.

Second that. DLT Trading Company is my favorite by far. I ordered a couple of Lon Humphrey Customs and some hard to source Emersons from them over the last couple of years. Great people to deal with. I placed an order for a BRK with impala scales about a year ago. An hour after I placed the order I got a call from one of their CS reps informing me that the scale on one side of the knife I ordered had slightly separated from the tang, and wasn't up to their quality control standards. I asked if they opened and inspected every knife they sell before it shipped out, and they told me they did. That was enough for me to be a return customer.

A close second choice would be KSF, knivesshipfree.com. Also good people.

Most of the well known names seem to have been mentioned. I've had pleasant transactions with all or most of them.

If it hasn't already been mentioned, National Knives (https://www.nationalknives.com/) is another good one. There's pretty much only one vendor I won't order from and it doesn't bear mentioning their name.

Seems to have a very large selection. Prices seem great, though I don't do many knife shopping comparisons. Does a lot of pro-law enforcement stuff like providing nice knives for LE cause raffles and are just all around nice folks.

I really like that they offer "want it to shave" knife sharpening on new knives so it arrives crazy sharp.
