So I'm new to the world of shooting, but everything I've heard on reputable sites and instructors (and Tosh.0) tells me that this is a bad idea:

Aside from the obvious exposed trigger issue, the exposed mag floor plate seems like a snag hazard for both inserting and drawing the gun from a pocket.

Is there something I'm missing? It seems even worse than a SERPA, as you can easily shoot yourself even while the gun is holstered.

It is my opinion that a holster should completely cover the trigger guard, and the trigger. If the holster does not do that, I fail to see what purpose it is serving.

It's no more dangerous than just sticking it in one's pocket. The only thing I think this accomplishes is masking the shape of the gun in a tighter pocket, which may be more dangerous; a pocket one would not use from which to fire the pistol in the first place. Plus, an auto-loader fired from the pocket is only gonna be good for one round only, unlike a J-frame. I just don't see the need for this.

First rule of pocket carry : only carry the firearm in the pocket. Nothing else.
