Found a gem today I think, a S&W Model 10-2 marked N.P.D. and 423T. Anybody know what these stand for? I presume to think it's the police rack number or something but it's a solid piece, smooth, and fits perfectly in the hand. I've always wanted a model 10 to plink with and teach my kids on, fate found me today! 41569

I've seen NPD attributed to Newark Police Dept. on a quick google search

Newport or Narragansett if it's from RI.

4" barrel?

I really like how standard 4" barrels handle.

Yessir 4" barrel, it handles so nice!! He had a model 10-2 and model 10-14, somebody traded in an old collection. I'm in love with it, I know its a plain common pistol but my first.

A Model 10 is one of the two handguns that any self-respecting American should know how to shoot, if not own.

A Model 10 and a Glock 19, right? ;)

Taking a guess, 423T is shield number and first initial last name.

Thanks for the info and tidbits all, I've ran a few cylinders of standard FMJ though it and it hits right to POI. I carried it around the yard Saturday in an OWB leather holster and it packs very nicely, smooth D/A pull and and a light crisp S/A. Love it!
