4 days in VT. No work, no phones, just the family, a river, and a mountain.

Beer and whiskey goes without saying

One of my mentors once said: "you should be as at home at the football game as the opera."

Which became, for me: "you should be as at home at the UFC as the symphony; as at home with Red Stripe as with Caol Ila 18 year.

O3RN,

Sounds like a good time. I just hope your picture doesn't indicate you were drinking at the range. That violates a couple safety rules and years of common sense.

I'm not takin' a cheap shot at you personally. Just think the point needed to be made.

Dave

Good for you for having some quality time with the people in your life that really matter.
That said, get your ass back to shooting and buying nice wheelies!;)

Lol, yeah. This is my weekend on but I have Monday off. I need to zero my M92 before bear season next month.

Lol!! I love that. Reminds me of bringing a camelback into the base theater.

I bough a bottle of Rebel Yell because of the Billy Idol song.

After drinking it, I found that as cheap whiskeys go, I actually quite like it.

Cheap? Yes.

Soulless? No, it's got redneck soul!

I remember hearing of Rebel Yell back in 1985 from a German colleague who happened to be very drunk on it at the time. Never had a chance to acquire a bottle myself till a few years ago (just for interest's sake).
Cheap, definitely not smooth, but "interesting" in its own way nonetheless.

As heretical as it may be, my cheap go-to is Jim Beam Vanilla. Rebel Yell is still classier than that.

Fwiw my go to sipping whiskey is Evan Williams.

Rebel Yell isn't bad by any standards. It's a wheated bourbon and has a nice mellow flavor.

When I did more entertaining, I had a friend who liked bourbon and Coke. I kept a bottle of Ten-High for that.

Kentucky Deluxe isn't bad with Coke.

Anyone ever try Bourbon and Pepsi? Absolutely horrible. Weird, no?

My other favorite inexpensive whiskey is Rittenhouse Rye BIB.

It is made by Heaven Hill which also makes Evan Williams along with a couple more of my favorites which are Henry McKenna 10 and Pikesville Rye.
