I'd like to get an AIWB kydex holster for my 3" Model 65. I have a workable leather one from Kramer, but I'd like to get a kydex one for walking, when I can get a little sweaty.

I have an old Blade-Tech holster for my 3" Model 60 that works. I'd like to get something very similar for the M65. This is it:

40719

I'd like to get something very much like this. Does anyone have any recommendations?

Tony at JMCK made me one for my 3" 686+, which I just sold. I've only tested out the holster but never worn it out and about in the wild.

I don't know the difference in frame size between the two models, (the 686+ being an L frame), but if you check with Tony and he says the holster will work with yours, let me know and I'll send it to you.

JMCK would be my first suggestion. I think DSG was toying with a 3” K rig.

Just got off the phone with Tony at JMCK. He doesn't feel that my L frame holster would be an ideal solution for your gun...but he said that he definitely has the mold for the 3" Model 65 so you should be good to go.

Well, I tried to do one nice thing today...;)

What do those neoprene pads/wedges do?

This is what Tony made for me, 3" 64
40740
40741

Works great. Small foam wedge kicks it in just right, for me anyhow.
I would offer you it to try but.....it's been in my nether regions, you know?;)

Stephanie B, we can get you a holster made for the 3" 65. You will want to choose the S&W 3" K Frame as your pistol choice in our drop down menu. You can email me (sales@jmcustomkydex.com) or give me a call as well if you have any specific questions (775-686-8431).

Thanks

Tony, thanks. Which model would you recommend? I get some, um, draping from my chest that helps with concealment.

I would say the AIWB. Go with a full guard if you want it to cover the hammer, pull the dot loops and a neoprene pad. The pad will bridge the gap between the cylinder and the barrel somewhat. If you think you are only going to use the pull the dot loop (the only other option is the split loop, clips don't work well with revolvers, imo) then let me know in the comments you want the wide hole pattern and I can spread them out a bit. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Thanks

Thanks, Tony. I just placed the order.

If you want to mess around with one while you’re waiting for yours let me know. I’ve got one for my 3” 65 you can try out. Just send it back when yours comes in. PM if you’re interested.

I have a JMCK George for my 4" M10. I also use it for my 2.75" 66-8. It is incredibly well made and I find it quite comfortable for daily wear. Highly recommended!https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190803/6493120e7792e1e2c8e0b4d401fca777.jpg

I see the value in a kydex holster, but a horsehide Kramer should be just fine when sweaty. If it's a cowhide Kramer, then yea definitely not, but horsehide is great for carry when there is humidity involved. Perhaps not quite as good as kydex, but pretty close, with more give than kydex.

Sounds like you ordered what I have. I got a 4" but trimmed it after a year because I got a shorter gun.

What kind of front sight is that, and who installed it?

I like my Lobo offset belt clip, but after a humid summer I’m thinking it’s time to go Kydex:

Crap, I forgot to ask for the wide hole pattern. Sorry.

Lon, thanks, but I should be OK. I’ve been getting by with the M60 for quite a while. ;)

This thread seems to have come to a conclusion, but I’ll add my vote for a JMCK George, as well. Mine is for a 4", but the 3" 65-3 fits just fine too.

Good choice, Stephanie B!

I’ll join the JMCK chorus, for the benefit of prospective buyers who may see this, in the future.

I am still tinkering with the best belt loop equation, and may shorten it when I settle upon which weapon I will normally be using with it. I bought it pre-owned, so being for a 4” K-Frame, it is longer than necessary for my 2” Model 64, but, I have been keeping an eye on a locally-available 4” 64, or may end up with a 3” weapon.

I received the AIWB holster earlier this month. I've worn it for a few hikes in the park, as well as just going out and about. It is totally great, very comfortable, and conceals a 3" K-frame better than I would have hoped.
