Searching within a specific thread

Is there a way to search inside of a single thread? For example, say I wanted to see if an event I recently read about had already been discussed in "Shooting incidents in the news," but I didn't want to read the last 20 pages of the (currently) 509 page thread to see if someone had already mentioned it. Is there a way to do that?

On the top right hand side of the screen, (just above your first post in this thread), there is a "search thread" button that also allows an "advanced" feature.

It's available on all threads to search within them.
