I recently happened upon David Paulides work concerning missing people who disappear without a trace in National Park or Forest Lands. David has written a series of books titled Missing 411 which document the cases he has researched over the years that fit his criteria. The books are the best sources of raw data you can get if you are curious about learning more.

David excludes any cases where there are signs of foul play or animal attacks, these are cases with no suspects and no signs that can be found via tracking dogs or experienced trackers and large search parties with hundreds of people of several days to weeks. There are similarities between a very large number of these cases that are inexplicable, such as victims being found in an area that has been searched well over a dozen times, victims being found without boots on, etc.

The following are a couple of good interviews with David which I've listened to, but long so be warned.

David's Youtube channel is Canam Missing Project, https://www.youtube.com/user/canammissingproject/videos

Here is a couple videos of one cases where he traveled to the location of the disappearance to document.

David had also asked Survivorman's Les Stroud to try and recreate one of the disappearances of a young boy who had been found miles away from where he disappeared in pitch black of night.

I have been extremely interested in these cases personally, thought I would share here incase anybody wanted to learn about this stuff.

I bought the first book, because, outdoor mysteries; PacNW (including the Collville forest and W Montana). The thing gave me the heebie-jeebies. Some of those cases where they find perfectly folded pants with bones in them by the side of a hiking path that had been searched countless times will keep one up at night thinking. Crazy stuff. This guy finally breaking he linkage blindness thing with local LE v the parks is pretty compelling.

I find this stuff interesting too. Any idea where to catch the documentary?

Reminds me of this movie. I was on edge of my seat for all of it. Ended a little goofy though.

I don't believe fairy tales, sea stories, or bigfoot lore.

So, I watched the first trailer. Without wasting a lot of time watching all the videos posted, what is proposed as the problem? Serial killers? Boogieman? Aliens? Animals?

Respectfully, this is not related to Bigfoot in any way. Just the facts, the author does not make any attempts at what may have done this.

Frankly, nobody who has read all of his books can give any explanation for what's happening. We don't have anything other than the facts and similarities between cases and search efforts have not found anything for remains in most cases. David does not believe it to be any of those things doing this, he insists there is not anything he can come up with that could explain what is happening.

The best I can offer is this speech David gave to UFO related group... covers quite a bit of ground with the main scope of everything in about an hour.

Two documentaries for sale here... also books available at the same website. I have no affiliation with any of this, btw... do not buy the books/videos on Amazon. David sells through his website only for much less than inflated reseller copies on Amazon.

Yep, David has stated he will speak in front of any audience who is interested in having him... nothing too surprising there. That does not mean he believes it to be the work of aliens, however.

Just to be sure I haven't created any hard feelings, I wasn't commenting upon whether he did or did not believe that 'aliens' had anything to do with it. Only that, considering the subject matter, the possibility that "aliens did it!" was bound to show up.

No hard feelings, just wanted to clarify anyways. I personally would not be surprised if that had something to do with these occurrences. But, I have had an experience which opened my mind to the possibilities of what could be out there.

I've always loved listening to his interviews. Same with Linda Moulton Howe.

I find the subject matter facinating.

I've spent months in the woods at a time and have some weird experiences. The story of the boots found with the foot bones in them with the socks and pants pulled down with the bones snapped was pretty creepy.

That author seems a bit to eager to dismiss some of the points presented.

"Only 14 miles" pssh, I ran that yesterday...

My 1 year old didn't though.

"What's the NPS supposed to do?" Maybe document missing people?

As much as I'm into true crime, especially disappearances, I can't watch or listen to Paulides.

This is funny timing because I've been doing a deep dive into Paulides' stuff as research for an upcoming book.

He raises some valid concerns about law enforcement in National Parks and other public lands, particularly a lack of coordination and information sharing, and wraps them in a layer of bullshit.

I get that. I would actually just like to know the actual numbers of missing people in the parks. I disregard supernatural explanations, but would be interested in the scope of the problem between crime, getting lost and dying of exposure, animal attacks, just bad luck like a tree fall, exactly how big is this problem? What I see with this guy is documenting maybe a real problem then wrapping it in a bunch of spooky non answers. I don’t think it will be helpful.

And I agree, the NPS should be documenting this. Too many people think the Parks are just a big benign playground, that is far from true.

I appreciate his non answers. He's not in a position to know what is going on. He's merely presenting the facts.

He has said on multiple occasions that he doesn't present what he thinks is the cause because it continues to change.

I don't think he has the numbers. The NPS does and is willing to disclose it but they need their coin first.

While interesting, and interesting enough to watch a few more of them, ANYONE who deals with the public on a daily basis can attest to how both woefully ignorant and arrogant the general population is when it comes to items of both common sense and safety.

The late George Carlin had a quote: “Think of how stupid your average person is. Then realize that 50% are more stupid than that.” Just because you’re deemed an “intelligent” person doesn’t mean squat. My sister is exceedingly intelligent, yet cannot tie her shoes without reading how to do so in a book...ZERO common sense. I mean ZERO.

...Still interesting stuff though.
