Disney security can't even respond promptly to or once on scene actually handle a fight.

What do you think will happen when an active shooter shows up, whether they are Angry White Boi or a true Jihadi?

FWIW, the nationwide failure rate for contraband getting through TSA screening hovers somewhere in the 60 percent area. Some airports have been as high as in the 90 percent area. I have no reason to believe that Disney security is miraculously effective at screening out weapons.

Just another reminder of why there's tons of places to visit and spend your money other than these traps.

regarding laughable security...
Hersey does bag inspections on the main check in line, but the "crap I left my wallet in my car, here's my stamped hand" re-entry line, doesn't check shit. I easily could have gotten back in with an entire arsenal.

Not sure if disney parks are as bad, and frankly i'm not intending on finding out any time soon.

ROFL!!! That was hilarious. They should make that a regular Disney show.

Security was completely useless. Blue shirt, gray hat, red pack guy was the only one who had any moves.

Initial thoughts:
1. HAPPIEST PLACE ON EARTH ZOMG

2. There's a reason to learn unarmed combatives right there.

3. The "grooming" behaviors with the red shirt dude...pulling at his clothes etc...and the fact that he was pacing and shouting and moving his hands around is almost a textbook indicator of incoming violence.

4. Security arrives and nobody is handcuffed?

5. I may be wrong, but when your customers have to drag a dude down and sink a RNC in to calm him down you may need better security.

Wayyy too many people with kids just standing there. The correct response to a domestic situation like that is to make your family be not there with much haste. That could have very easily escalated to the point of bystanders becoming somebody’s backstop.

Last week we went to sea world in Orlando. I was carrying a backpack. I had the backpack with the straps so the pack was on my chest. As I walked through I was sent to the bag inspection line. I unzipped the main compartment and the security clerk took two wooden dowels and moved an item or two and told me thank you. I looked at them and realized they were done. I they never looked through the bag. I was wearing a fishing shirt untucked with a wilderness belt. I could have carried anything into the park and they would not have been any wiser. If you are gonna screen screen.
We went to universal's city walk for dinner. I got almost to security and remembered I had my old time pocket knife in my pocket and returned to the car. There you empty pockets into a tray and walk through scanner.

I visited WDW in January and saw a few obvious plainclothes guys scoping the crowds, whether cops or park security would be anyone’s guess. They were fit, obviously together even though about 20’ from each other with backs to a building. Backpacks, wraparound shades, clean shaven with short hair under sports team ball caps. Not with any family or kids.

A Google search shows WDW does hire plainclothes security, it looks like starting pay is about $14/hour.

The uniforms at the metal detectors asked me to press all the buttons on my Surefire Stiletto - it does look like a cheap stun gun.

I was at Circuit of the Americas for F1 last year, and that was their screening process. Someone could smuggle in some serious kit if they were so inclined.

Fortunately, it looked like CotA had half of Austin PD and Travis County SO on hand. I wouldn't be surprised if they had some tactical folks lurking about.

Experienced Disney traveler, and been some places with some folks from the Disney machine.
There are more layers than meets the eye.
Cast members you see are for visitor experiences, bell curve problems, and risk management. For better and worse, they're like most other places.
Cast members you don't see have much more capability.
Disney's SOP for safety, medical, and behavioral issues includes rapid redirection of traffic, distraction by cast members, and rapid relocation.
This was an old-fashioned family thugfest presenting no public danger and that will run itself out. No need for a security dogpile that won't play well in PR/youtube.
Disneyland is more Cali than Disney. Parking, facilities, cast member behavior, other park guests, full of pot smoke, all Cali. This is what I expect of -land.
Disneyworld is a different experience. Not without some nonsense, but not Cali.
Screening at -land is also different than -world. Same layers, same machines, just...different.

-Land had some neat stuff, but I won't do it again nor do I recommend it to others. Currently planning another trip to -world, though.

Multiple news agencies are now reporting on this. Why am I not surprised that everyone involved in the fight were part of the same extended family. This was not a case of some dick beating the shit out of a random stranger because they broke in line.

From what I can tell, the violent crime rate at Disneyland Resort, 1.5 per 1 million visitors, is far less than surrounding Anaheim. While 3 minutes for security to arrive seems like an eternity in the midst of a good old fashioned American ass wipp’en, it will take an average of 8 minutes for the Anaheim po po to arrive at your house if there is an intruder.

In other words, it is highly unlikely that you will ever get your ass beat if you simply walk away from loud commotions, and the Disney theme parks are no more dangerous than the local mall or theater.

I'm strangely aroused by the idea of Snow White matching out, in costume, with a SAW, barrels already spinning and warmed up, some ever so faint grease smudges from the weapon appropriately applied.
I'm trying to fixate on her, rather than the dwarfs carrying the ammo belt and box. :D

If the barrel of your SAW is spinning, you've done something VERY wrong.

On the Disney Tac squad, I keep imagining they have to do the voices. "Garsh, we've got movement by the tilt-a-whirl", QRF is alerted by a Goofy ski jump yell, and "Tango down...he he!"

Your Sea World experience reminds me of my visit to the GA Aquarium several years back. My girlfriend at the time and I went and as we’re waiting to get in I notice the security is wanding those entering. At the time I was wearing my P226 in an Uncle Mike’s OWB (I was still new to carrying) at about 4 o’clock. I debated between going ahead and heading back to the car to store my gun or chance it and decided to roll the dice. Emptied my pockets, they wanded my front and then I was good to go in.

Been to Disneyworld a couple of times IMO, it's just meh..Too crowded, too expensive, overall, a PITA.. I know a few people who live in the area, and they avoid Disney like tke plague..I've got a friend of mine who worked at Disneyworld when it was being built, to me that would've been far more interesting..

I'm going to DW next month. Not because *I* want to go, but because my wife and kids are Disney fans.

We went once before about 7 years ago. Unfortunately my youngest daughter, who had just turned 4 at the time, was a bit too young to really enjoy it, so we're going again. Yay.

What I spend on a week's trip to Disney would pay for a nice hunting trip, for just about any species, including a new gun, just about anywhere in CONUS.

Been to Disney World 3 times as an adult to take my kids... Grand son is 2 and half, so in 3 or 4 years, we will be going back with him.

That said, I have carried a gun into the park almost every time. The one or two days it was not carried, it was just because my wife was worried we MIGHT get searched. Apparently, even with a badge, they don't like guns. So the worst that would happen IF i was searched is a trip back to the hotel to drop it off. Strangely, my daughter was pregnant at the time.. very visibly pregnant. She got pulled out of line and searched, and I was just waved through with a blade and Glock 26. Good Job security! I also carried at Universal Studios 20 years ago.

I have had an issue at Six Flags Fiesta Texas in San Antonio. I was wand'ed, it beeped, and I ID'ed the security person, who told me I would NOT be let in period, even if i went and put the gun in the car. This did not sit well with me, and I forced the issue and made her call the local PD. SA PD comes out of the park, sees my ID, gives her a funny look, and offers to let me lock up my gun in his office. Security lady was not happy to be over ridden. But I went in, disarmed, and had a fun day with the family.

Non Disney, but security related:
Worst issue bar none was Houston of Blues Houston. Had tickets to see Joe Rogan do stand up, had my wife, son and his girlfriend along. As we waited in line, an employee walked down the side walk and wand'ed folks. Once he passed them, anyone could walk up and hand them something. He made the women hold out their arms like an airplane, and wand'ed their waist. They held purses away from the body, and the purses were never searched, nor were ankles wand'ed. My son and I laughed as he approached us down the line, because we both saw what a useless Kabuki theater it was. I had carried in HOB at least 10 times before, no issues. So he gets to me, and I discretely show the badge before he wands me. "well, you cant carry in there" Uh, yes, yes I can. We go round a few minutes and eventually he radios the manager out.

I am polite and professional, but the manager's neck tattoos let me know that he has had 'interaction' with police before, and he is in asshole mode. I show the badge. He says Texas law prohibits my entry armed. I point out Penal Code section 30.06 and 30.07 apply to LTC holders, not cops, and even use my phone to google the law that shows cops can carry in venues that serve booze. Well, its against company policy he says. I point out I was there two months prior for a Floggin' Molly concert and walked right in after showing my badge. He said "no you didn't"... by this point I am pissed. We go round for 5 more minutes, and rather than ruin the evening for my family, I agreed to put the gun in my car. I come back, and the manager and two bouncers await. He wants me searched. I show him my empty holster, but he wants a search-search. Like made me take off my cowboy boots... I eventually got in. But will NEVER give another dime to House of Blues.

Which is why it was my idea to go. I know how much they enjoyed the trip last time and that Thing 1 is rapidly approaching the age where she wouldn't be interested, so I suggested last year that we not only go, but completely splash out on the bells and whistles to make it an epic trip for my family. The benefit to me is seeing them enjoy themselves. I'll tolerate the mouse for their grins.

We have/had passes to pretty much all the parks on I4. Ain't smuggling nuttin into Disney now-a-days. Well, Disney Springs, but that's open and unrestricted.(BTW Disney Springs has their own bourbon trail now, so fun for Dad!).

Security at Sea World is a joke. I've carried my standard & "heavy" concealed carry kit into all 3. It's funny watching them wand down my wife & double inspect our strollers while I'm standing inside the park carrying 2 pistols, mags, 2 ifak, knives, flashlight. It was even funnier at the water park, where everyone is in a swimsuit but me.

Legoland security is so-so. Not coming in the front gate, but lots of leaks.

My last trips to Universal were for Halloween horror nights. Nothing was getting in there, security was comparable to DW.

Busch Gardens is a lot like Sea World in regards to security.

That will probably be the only reason we go back, but we are waiting for the hotel.

Our only reason for not going back before then is the kids aging out and other things we’d prefer to do with the time and money, after our year of Disney. We did a big finale with a week at the contemporary, all the hot rides, etc so we are all pretty stocked up.

Some time after reading this thread and this thread on pepper spray (https://pistol-forum.com/showthread.php?37331-RFI-Defensive-Spray), I stumbled upon an article or comment regarding Pom spray with a link to Amazon (might have been on Greg E's site). I followed the link and reading the material on Amazon's ad, it ocurred to me that Pom would be the idea NPE spray for places like Disney. Nowhere on the package does it say "pepper spray" or give any indication of what it's for. The white containers with "girly" colored stripes (coral, pink, etc) would totally fly under the radar even if spotted.

I ordered one (white/coral). At $13 shipped, if it gets confiscated or I'm told to toss it, I'm not out a lot of money.
