I’ve been using Lubriplate oil & grease, and was hoping they made some kind of aresol parts cleaner, that was high pressure, like brake cleaner. I called them, but they don’t make anything like that. I found this online and will try it when I get back from Albuquerque.
I like the food grade oil and grease, and wanted a high pressure cleaner to blast the powder residue away, without having to deal with latex gloves.

Update: sprayed my frame to try and remove powder residue, and noticed that it was removing the red paint on top of my slide stop lever (P30). It definitely doesn't evaporate completely, like regular auto brake cleaner, but it's not that big of a deal, considering this will only be used periodically.

But, the paint issue has me concerned about using it on my slide, considering I have a new set of TruGlo TFX Pro's...I don't want to mess them up.

I guess a generic, non-toxic degreaser, out of a spray bottle, may have enough pressure to blast away the powder residue, so I may give that a try.

Maybe something like Formula 88 would work.

I found this product online. Haven't used it, but it sounded like something you are looking for. It even says it's good for firearms.

I reread your post and have a suggestion. Moisten a rag with Rem Oil and wipe away powder residue. A tooth brush applied around sights, levers, and buttons will finish the task. The much maligned WD40 would work well for this external application, but I recommend Rem Oil because it has some lube ability, and if you chose to apply it internally then you would avoid the sin of using WD40 for this purpose. After wiping with Rem Oil, use another rag for tidying up if you prefer. Rem Oil is not a miracle product but succeeds for what it does not do: eating plastic, stinking, creating gum, and harming wood finish. It is a an ok solvent. In this case ok means not damaging.

Blowing off slides and frames with a spray product may not be best technique unless disassembly beyond field stripping is carried out. The reason is that whatever is applied under pressure goes everywhere in and out. Solvents will remove oil. Or they may make what's there start to run with the result that a gummy mess of residue is floating inside while the outside appears clean.

I use WD40 on my neighbors cat who bit me. I spray the bastard every chance I get. That's why I have a can of this stuff.

You really shouldn't tempt my meager abilities of restraint with such...

The cat must like it, and the stuff may be good for him. I've been spraying him since 1998. I have arthritis. He doesn't.

There's no such thing as non-toxic gun cleaner, because the instant you put it on the gun and start mixing it with the stuff you're trying to clean, it becomes toxic.

Also, blowing it off with air aerosolizes all the stuff. There are lots of "non toxic" cleaners that you don't want to breathe as aerosols.

I used to think this stuff is overpriced and it's marketing claims are ridiculous. But ever since getting a sample bottle from a match, I've been using Breakthrough, and in my opinion it is a better solvent than anything else I've tried:

The price for smaller bottles is ridiculous. And don't ask me what makes this stuff "military grade"... It only comes in spray bottles, which are great for getting solvent everywhere else than where you wanted it. But this stuff is great for cleaning firearms. Buy in a big bottle and transfer to a better bottle of your choice.

Thanks, I like, and have several products from Slip 2K. The EWG, EWL, EWL 30 & Gun Lube (15-20wt?). About the cleaner; I have a bottle of Mil-Comm MC-25 'Green' cleaner, that I had bought for my Sigs. It's good stuff, and I still have most of my 32oz bottle. It's somewhat expensive, but not terrible, so I was just shopping for a generic, non-firearms de-greaser, that was considerably cheaper than the 'gun cleaner's.
The SolSafe 245 stinks, and with the issue of it removing paint from my HK, I don't see me using it much. After my MC-25 is gone, I'll try some Simple Green Industrial Cleaner (https://www.amazon.com/19024-Crystal-Industrial-Cleaner-Degreaser/dp/B000ULR4EO/ref=as_li_ss_tl?keywords=simple+green+industrial+c rystal&qid=1572273237&sr=8-2&linkCode=ll1&tag=ratio07-20&linkId=c3e7f6febfe914a1d773daa389f0d1a1&language=en_US), that is about $9/24oz.

My wife is a nurse, she says use Blue EMU (https://amzn.to/2JnWwoD) for your arthritis. Not sure what it would do for the cat.....

There’s a simple green made specifically for aircraft that doesn’t damage aluminum. That’s what I use for my AR receivers. Haven’t thought to use it on the bore but should work ok.

I use that "HD Simple Green" version as well, but only for degreasing parts which will then be rinsed and re-coated with something. Why? Because even Simple Green says this stuff should be rinsed off, and I don't want to deal with that during ordinary firearm cleaning.

The two non-toxic cleaners I use (both do not have to be rinsed, and both leave behind a residue that helps against corrosion)
* MPro-7 (https://www.amazon.com/Hoppes-M-Pro-Gun-Cleaner-Bottle/dp/B00162PQTG/ref=as_li_ss_tl?crid=23J4IZKUK7NHX&dchild=1&keywords=mpro7+gun+cleaner&psc=1&qid=1572621369&sprefix=pro,aps,149&sr=8-3&linkCode=ll1&tag=ratio07-20&linkId=e57454d80619d070f65b5eea49bb701b&language=en_US) (regularly--buy it by the gallon, and it's also gentle enough that I filled a mid-sized rubbermaid with about 2" in the bottom for soaking knives, or other things)
* Boretech (https://www.amazon.com/s/ref=as_li_ss_tl?k=boretech&ref=nb_sb_noss_2&linkCode=ll2&tag=ratio07-20&linkId=86d67e9e78299c62fe8b5daf4ad9cb8d&language=en_US) (deep cleaning for bores, less often)

From the non-toxic cleaners is 725 Gun Cleaner Degreaser from Slip 2000 (https://www.amazon.com/Slip2000-725-Cleaner-Container-1-Gallon/dp/B00CI2GRFA/ref=sr_1_2?crid=1VPQSDQ83XRLP&keywords=slip+725+gun+cleaner&qid=1653321691&sprefix=slip+725+gun+cleaner%2Caps%2C63&sr=8-2) still a good call. Anything similar that shooters prefer? I'm about out of my 725...

*I know when cleaners break up lead you're exposed to toxins. Non-the less I like avoiding old school solvents.
