View Full Version : California seizing land from farmers for failed train project

Up and down the San Joaquin Valley, farmers have similar stories. The state can take land with a so-called order of possession by the Superior Court while it haggles over the price.
But farmers often face out-of-pocket costs for lost production, road replacement, repositioning of irrigation systems and other expenses, which the state agrees to pay before the final settlement.
Those payments and even some payments for land have stretched out to three years. State officials have offered endless excuses for not paying, the farmers say.

This type of mess makes my blood boil. I believe I have mentioned it before, but we helped stop a 55,000 acre land grab by pitting the EPA against the USFWS. The grab would have taken prime ag land out of production. It's scary how much land is owned by the State/Fed government.

Those people will likely never see a dime..That's just the way it is in the land of the communist.. They'll take your land, promise payment, all for the common good, and when the project flops, nobody knows nothing, about nothing, because accepting responsibilty, is something communists won't do..

Withhold your state taxes until until the state pays up. When the state says you need to pay your taxes you say the state needs to pay me for land they took first.

Those farmers may never get paid. CA is circling the drain with their socialist gov't. There just aren't enough people to pay the taxes to support the socialism. The ones that can are leaving.

Pretty soon there won't be anyone in CA except the poor and the wealthy.

Not Enough....

At this point in time I think it is time for the Farmers and Ranchers to stop sending food into the urban areas of Kalifornia. It will suck but I have enough food and water to last a month and by that time I'm pretty sure Sacramento will be on its knees.. I'll gladly live off of rice and beans for a couple of weeks and loose another 20 lbs just to watch the ensuing meltdown. Sure, people love the tech coming out of the Bay and the porn coming out of LA, but history has proven people need food more than they need gadgets and after a couple weeks without food, porn won't be needed. Civilization is a fragile thing and it's time that the "leadership" in Sacramento are reminded of that fact.

It will be a good lesson for everyone.....

That's right..I figure in another 8-10 years, maybe sooner the only people living in California will be the extremely wealthy and the homeless/extremely poor, who will continue to set up homeless camps where ever they feel like, and shit wherever they're at when nature calls..The best thing that could happen would be if the state defaults on it's debt..Then watch what happens when the free shit stops..

There's only one problem with that..If the state is willing to take your land, they're probably willing to take your food, too.I could see them sending in the National Guard in, forcably taking what they want..Remember, these people are communists, they think like communists, and they'll do what communists always do..take what they want, by force if nessessary..

ETA:
After thinking about it, it really would'nt suprise me that if push came to shove, that the state might take a stab a collective farming, to insure a steady flow of food for the unwashed masses.. The homeless could be put to work on the farms, and they in turn could supply a endless supply of fertilizer (shit). For the communist, this would be a win-win, They could get the homeless out of town, and give them a home on the farm, in return for work(slavery)..How dare the farmer to demand payment for the land we took!!

That is possible - but if this were to happen and assuming enough guardsmen made muster to make it effective, then the mask of these leftists would be pulled off for the rest of America and the "Free" world to see - exposing them for what they really are. Plus - after 2 weeks or so of food shortages - I'm pretty sure that the police and National Guard will be busy elsewhere.

Major cities exist at the pleasure of the agrarian regions, not the other way around. I was here when the train vote happened - it was just a feel good aspirational vote for all the city dwellers who liked the idea without giving any cost to the realities of the project. It's time people in the cities are reminded of how civilization works - I fear requiring everybody to read Richard Scary's "What do People do All Day" (https://www.amazon.com/Richard-Scarrys-What-People-World/dp/0553520598/ref=sr_1_1?crid=115ULWN6CXBTR&keywords=richard+scarry+what+do+people+do+all+day&qid=1560359625&s=gateway&sprefix=richard+scary+what%2Caps%2C209&sr=8-1) is not going to be enough..... :(

That mask was pulled off a long time ago..California has been communist for some time, and the only way it'll stop is when the money runs out..I agree with you..it'd be an interesting couple of weeks while things took a nosedive, I could see all the liberals running to gun shops and demanding to buy a gun NOW! only to find out they have to wait, what is it? 10 days? The look on their faces would be priceless..

I have reached a point where the only chance of turning the country around is a "soft" disaster - kind of like the 350lb chain smoking guy who has a "mild heart attack" and then decides to quit smoking, hit the gym and eat better (and even then I'm not betting on it working).

I agree, I feel things will come to a head at some point, and I don't think that's it's very far off. There's a number of things that could trigger this, and I'm thinking a stock market crash is one of the most likely.

Speaking of chain smokers, When I was an apprentice pipefitter, I worked with a guy who chain smoked..smoked 4 packs of camel straights a day..He would literally smoke the cig until it got to his lips, light a new one off the old one, spit the old one out, and keep smoking..I'll admit after working with him, and then working with other guys who dipped, or chewed, I'd rather work with the smokers...at least they don't spit all over the place, or into disgusting looking bottles.. BTW, the chain smoker I worked with has been dead for at least 25 years..

It's either a mild heart attack now, or a massive coronary while driving down the freeway with your family in the back straight into a school bus full of nuns, later.

No matter how hard the left wishes or virtue signals - there is no way to make MMT work.

Damn, that's hardcore dedication to the cause.

Here's something else to think about..That was just during an 8 hour workday, I've no idea how much more he smoked at home, So, his daily round count could be higher..Much higher..

That would be a 1000% improvement in the economic knowledge of a good too many people like AOC.

Politics tends to be the ne plus ultra of the Dunning-Krugler effect. They don't know crap about things, and then go on to make legally binding laws regulating what they don't know.

It wouldn't be difficult to coordinate security for shipments across the AZ, NV & OR borders to coincide with harvests. CA can't commandeer what's outside their border. Although it would be interesting to watch them try.

A strike & boycott by farmers and other ag types may be the way to go there.

If only I could think of another area where politicians make legally binding laws regulating something they know nothing about.........:rolleyes:

And my comment was NOT intended at all to disparage Richard Scary's Masterpiece work - I just fear that the story of "Alpha Alpha the Farmer" would be lost on the likes of AOC and the majority of Congress..... :(

Wondering how long it would take for a lawsuit by these farmers against the state to end up before the Supreme Court led to my wondering if the DOJ can bring RICO charges against a state...

There won't be any food for them to take. California has been cutting off water to growers because of some species of endangered fish. Growers have had to cut down whole orchards because they can't water them.
