Looking for a fanny pack to carry my 2.75" m66 on runs. I typically carry it no problamo on trail runs in cargo shorts on a belt but I'd like a quick, stable fanny pack to carry on runs around people.

Doesnt need to hold more than a gun, speed strip, and keys.

Have you considered a Hill People Gear kit bag?

I’ve ran with Fanny packs and I run with a hill people gear runners kit bag. The kit bag is way more comfortable and a much easier/faster to actually draw out of.

My wife has one of these. Might be big enough for a j frame / 43. I can take some pics if you think it'll work with your gat

have you considered how much bounce a fanny-pack may have with that much weight? My personal experience is with a large Jansport that has 2X water bottle holders off the sides. When loaded its only good for walking speed and this one is to big to use as a waist bag. It is great for hauling enough water on hot days to hydrate the dog. Usually ends up as a waisted effort because he treats his fold up bowl like a chew toy.

Been running with a hill people gear pack for about 5 years or so now. Make sure you get the runners bungee thing. It works really well.

A review of it is in my queue and it'll be a good review.

This looks like a copy of the old TDI fanny pack. I used mine at the gym and carried a Glock 23/26 + spare mag, cred wallet, keys, and LG flip phone.

If you're not trying to tote a phone or wallet, and all you need it to hold are the gun, a speed strip or two, and keys, then the 5.11 pistol pouch will work very well for that. I got rid of the one I had, due to not being able to hold a phone or ID wallet.

The best and most discreet fanny packs I have seen are from Coronado Leather. However, for workouts, I hesitate to suggest something that cannot be simply thrown in a washing machine with the rest of your laundry.

You would be hard pressed to find something cooler looking than a Spiritus Systems Fanny SACK MK2 in their Splatter color pattern.
https://www.spiritussystems.com/fanny-sack-mk2/

I would like to try the Hill People Gear pack though. It seems like up high, cinched down to the chest, would be way more comfortable than a belt system.

My fanny packs are not being sold anymore. I wish they were. The KG Products and Tommy's are great but they will flop around when running. Here are pics of the flip belt. I thought it was a fanny pack ish but it's more like a belly bandhttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190607/540836123d29cf336bb9e4ba8d24c59c.jpg

I used a Pistolwear PT-2 when I ran outdoors: http://www.pistolwear.com/pt-2-concealment-holster/

Another vote for Hill People. I hate running with crap bouncing around on my waist.

I’m not sure a fanny pack would be the way to go

Came here to say kit bag. I’ve run with it , hiked with it, fished with it… it’s really a great buy from good people.

I haven't tried it with a pistol, but the Ultimate Direction Utility Belt has been great for my long runs. I can stuff a phone, keys, gels, passport, small bottle, etc in it with ease and run 10-15 miles comfortably.

Another vote for the HPG Kit Bag. They even make a "Runners Kit Bag", that's lower profile and comes with elastic keepers to prevent bouncing. I can see 03RN using it for much more than running, though. I have the standard kit bag, and I use it to carry my EDC stuff. It's often stuffed inside a backpack, but it allows me to keep everything in one place, and either wear it or carry it. I'm such a fan that I've bought them for friends as gifts, and they all get put to good use.

Do you have a link to a source for that?

My knees are too trashed to run, so I walk, walk the dogs, and bike ride every know & then. While OffTopic, for that I use one of the ol' Eagle Ind fanny packs. As I get back into paddling the kayak and with retirement coming I'm going to pick-up & use a Hill People Gear kit bag when on the bike or in the kayak.

I put the link earlier in this thread. It's the Amazon link. Called "flip belt"

I found the HPG Kit bag too bouncy. Same with any sort of belly band and any gun over 15 oz.

My best solution for running with stuff concealed is:

Decent gun belt and OWB holster directly on skin with shirt over. I have carried as small as a G42 and as large as a G19 comfortably at 4:00.

Second small belly band elastic type belt for phone, keys, etc. just above the gun belt.

Hope thats helpful and you probably have what you need laying around the house to test it.

I have done a significant amount of running with various fanny packs, and have found that bounce is largely eliminated by simply tightening the waist strap.

During exercise, something that protects the gun from sweat is important. I definitely want a barrier between me and the gun as well as over the gun.

I must be going crazy, or blind. I thought I responded to a post that posted this https://www.elitesurvival.com/concealment-bags-packs/marathon-gunpack/
Fortunately I texted it to my wife. I actually think something like this might work.

Thanks for all the help

I've used a Wilderness Packer Backer (available with or without water bottle pockets) combined with a Wilderness Safepacker for over 20 years. Great for walking, hiking and bicycling, etc.

I've given up on normal running shorts and alternative carry options. I now run in various lightweight shorts that have belt loops. That way I can use my normal holster, don't have to move the Clinchpick to a different position, etc.

I use a black and gray 5.11 fanny pack to conceal my P365 when mountain biking. It has a very small footprint and is very quick yet secure. I flip it around while riding so that the buckle is in front.

Safepacker, from The Wilderness dot com, hand-carried to eliminate bounce, perhaps?

Once upon a time, when my knees and feet still allowed me to run as much as I wanted, I use a Michael’s of Oregon pouch, to tote a J-Snub, hand-carried. With every completed lap around the wooded park, I switched hands. If that pouch is still available, today, it would be too small for anything much larger than small-frame snub. A Safepacker can be had in larger sizes.

I run much, much less, these days; just enough to let the dogs get their blood pumping, for a bit. The Safepacker on a belt works fine; usually the gun is an S&W Model 327 PC 8-shot snub.

I love the Hill People Gear Kit Bags, for walking pace movement; I have yet to try running while wearing one. I did buy their now-discontinued runner’s harness, designed to link a Kit Bag with their Tarahumara backpack, but have yet to assemble the rig.

At the risk of starting another WML battle-royale, IF you carry your pistol with a WML check out "The Zacchaeus" by Dale Fricke Holsters (https://dalefrickeholsters.com/product/zacchaeus-concealment-holster/).

Dale's "The Zacchaeus" for pistols without WML is on the Hill People Gear (https://hillpeoplegear.com/Products/CategoryID/1/ProductID/35) website, but if you go directly to Dale's site you can get "The Zacchaeus" that will fit your flavor of pistol and WML.

Big fan of that holster type for the HPG Kit Bags and other off-body carry methods. I'm happy Dale came out with one for guns wearing WML's.

Have a couple of these for pistols I carry in fly fishing vest (or HPG, when I use it to hold a fly box or two, tippet, etc.).

Sort of thought it was gimmicky, tried one out, and turned out it is very handy, particularly when you're stowing a handgun into a tight area (said vest pocket). And reasonably quickly accessed from either HPG bag or the vest pocket I stow gun in.

Another vote for the HPG Kit Bag, it will resolve your issues. I hear that they no longer offer a runners harness, but if I recall, it was just a length of shock cord. Mine is the recon version w/ molle that I take hunting, which may draw more attention that what you might like, but they offer grey man versions as well. As to trigger guard holsters in the pistol compartment, I no longer think they are necessary. Unload a striker fired pistol, close it up in the bag, and try your damnedest to pull the trigger. I couldn't do it with maximum effort.

The runners harness was different than the stabilizer strap (which they still offer) they don’t offer the runners harness anymore which i believe was just a harness for there tarahuma backpack.
