This is not socioeconomic-related, we just need to ban guns there (again), and if that doesn't work; the oft-discussed but never implemented triple gun ban will definitely fix the problem. Then the inner city dwellers can kill each other with blunt objects and peace will have been achieved.

My understanding is that Chicago’s violence issues are mostly related to turf battles and longstanding feuds amongst street gangs. At its heart, this is a family and neighborhood issue. There are two to three generations of people in these trouble neighborhoods that quietly condone this activity on a daily basis. Cuz’ Hey, kids are gonna be kids right?
A portion of the people who are raising these gang bangers are screaming loudly for CPD to stop “discriminating” against them. It’s a problem that won’t be solved overnight. Banning guns again is the the only solution that the Cook County political machine has that doesn’t suggest racial bias. I hate to say it, but no one influential is pressuring the elephant in the room to take responsibility and make fundamental change.

That would help those who want to work, and want a job..most gang bangers don't fall into either catagory. To change Chicago, you need to change the state goverment. Both it, and the city of Chicago have been run by democrats for decades. The state of Illnois is broke, as an example, the pension fund for the state workers is massively underfunded, by billions of dollars, and the only solution the state can come up with is, raising everyones taxes, as a result, business's are fleeing the state as well as anybody who can sell their home and move..

The city of Chicago is also broke, for the same reasons..( according to an article I read awhile back,police and firefighters retiring at 55, collecting $100,00 a year pensions, with all their health care paid) and like the state, raised everyone's taxes. This is a city that has the highest paid school teachers in the nation, and yet they have about a 60% graduation rate..and they think that's good.. This is yet another example of the "utopia" that democrat socialist communist want...

You have to have good values in the first place, good values are taught at home..if you have one..sadly alot of these people don't, and the gangs become their home, family. When you have people who are second, third generation gang bangers, who see going to prison as a rite of passage so to speak, good values went out the window a long time ago..For people like this, I don't know what the answer is

I have never been anywhere near Chicago. If these shootings are like the ones in my area, they are examples of young black men killing other young black men. I saw this with the kids that I met at the high school where I taught. Usually I kept up with many after they dropped out. Many went to an early grave or prison. Never could I get black teachers or administrators to help me introduce this subject as an essential topic to be discussed at school. It was taboo. And offensive.
