I've been looking into having something anodized but the places I've heard back from don't have much as far as reviews of their work. Looking to see if anybody here knows one or has used one that they would recommend.

The project, I'm looking for anybody that can do Type III hardcoat, the item is scuba backplate measuring 15" x 10"(at it's widest) x .125" of raw 5052 Aluminum. It will be rinsed in clean water after each dive, but obviously will come into contact with saltwater on a regular basis so looking for corrosion protection.

pictures of the plate here, ,What is your "other" expensive hobby? (https://pistol-forum.com/showthread.php?19605-What-is-your-quot-other-quot-expensive-hobby&p=838054&viewfull=1#post838054)

I would reach out to Robar or their commercial side, Coating Technologies. Something like NP3 Plus, NP3, or electroless nickel might be more corrosion-resistant than anodizing but the coatings are more expensive.

The big thing you'll likely run into is minimum lot charges, typically somewhere around $200.

I know these guys do quality work for a lot of smaller customers and internationally famous brands, but again, the lot charge thing:

Thanks I'll check them out, so far I've been quoted between $120-200 between 5-6 places.

I have a buddy who is a fabricator and has managed to successfully DIY anodize some of the hot rod parts he's made. Results look better than some PSA and Aero Precision receivers I've seen. Big battery charger and buckets of sulfuric acid, and you're on your way...
