Any interesting updates from Shot Show 2019?

The only thing I have found that really interested me is the Kimber K6 with an exposed hammer.

For me, other than the new Glocks, which we've beat to death, and the King Cobra, 3" .357 LCR, and K6, which we've covered elsewhere, it's pretty much a "meh" year.

My eyes glaze over at all the AR15 variations and various things with arm braces.

The new .350 cartridge from Winchester makes perfect sense to folks that are limited to straight wall cases for deer hunting, and zero sense for anybody else.

So a rimless .357 Maximum, headspacing on the case mouth and lengthened about 0.11 inches.

That's pretty much my takeaway. It's not a BAD idea. With good shot placement it should anchor deer at the ranges where real people actually hunt. If I already owned a perfectly capable deer rifle I wouldn't buy it unless I found myself in a weapons restriction hunting unit.

Magpul announced a line of accessories for the MP5. I have a MP5 clone. So...s'alright. I think I might be most interested in the safety, as I find my SEF safety is far from optimal. Surprised they didn't make a stock considering the bewildering array of AR stocks they produce. I suspect that will follow - in my mind I'm picturing the love child of the Zhukov and a B&T side folder. The internet is enraged that there is no MP5 PMAG, but the MP5 magwell doesn't strike me as a solid candidate for a polymer magazine (the ETS offering notwithstanding). Good marketing video though.

Aren't rifled slug guns allowed substitutes in most of those places? If so, I can't figure out what would be wrong with a Savage 220 or a 20-ga 870 with a rifled barrel and sabot loads that would necessitate this.

Nothing wrong with that solution either. An argument I could make for this new .350 cartridge it has even less recoil than a .243, so it wouldn't be bad for youngsters and smaller framed adults. So it isn't useless, but I don't think it's a "must have" either.

I live in Ohio, which is in one of these places, We can also use a 45-70, which would work quite well on deer, for that matter, just about anything else.. What I would consider, a Winchester Mod 94 trapper, in .44mag, it'd be light and easy to carry around, and a .44mag also works well on deer.. I have one of these, and they're nice little rifles, I also have a '86 Winchester repro in 45-70 that Winchester sold for awhile, it's also a nice accurate rifle, only problem is, it weighs more than my M1 Garand does, empty. Given a choice, I'll go with the lighter rifle... It dosen't matter that much, slugs, or rifle, your choice, either will work well..

Decent show for interesting guns to me.

Glock 48
FN mid size
Arex mid size
Mid size P320 X
Archon Type B shipping

Just to name a few handguns since that is my main interest and what most people carry most of the time.

As far as I am concerned, after Glock’s early announcements, if the Acro was already shipping, they could have just cancelled this year’s SHOT.

Other than ammo cost, it doesn't get much better in this state.

That’s the real question - what’s up with the Aimpoint ACRO?

Stealth rifle of the year:

Brownells BR-180.

It’s an updated Aramalite 180 upper with an MLOK free float handguard which works on standard AR Lowers.

I saw a Wilson .308 Protector series mentioned as a new model. Is this "your" configuration?

After reading up on the issues 10/22 people have had with the Brownells receivers, I'm reluctant to rely on them to get stuff like that right consistently. I see a lot of evidence that they're great at selling other companies' products, but maybe not so experienced at managing the manufacture of their own.

Magpul says their new MP5 lower doesn't work with front push pin guns. Which was disappointing to me at first since I've got a Zenith MKE. However, a little thinking and stripping of my gun changes everything. The Zenith has a shelf, which retains the lower at the front. The front push pin is essentially cosmetic. So all you need to use the Magpul lower is remove the push pin. I let Magpul know so we might see some changes to their website description.

No mention of a .308 / AR 10 version in the article

The guns will be available in 5.56 NATO, 300 BLK and 300 HAM’R. Both rifle and pistol versions will be available.

HCM thanks, I screwed up with the "3's" in the caliber surfing too fast.

I'm surprised there aren't more "firearms" with the Shockwave/TAC-14 treatment.

Totally agree..this is probably one of those times where it's better to sit back and wait, and see how they shake out. If they're problematic, word will get out soon enough... You know the old saying, "bad news rides a fast horse" that sure applys here..

I’m excited about the Surefire XVL2 that is finally in production - 4 years after being announced. I was planning on getting a X400V but will hold off for the civilian rated XVL2. The XR1 and XR2 are also interesting too...

Only thing of interest to me is that Bond Arms has confirmed it is bringing back the “L”, long variant, of the Boberg. I was always kind of interested in the Boberg, before the design was bought by Bond. Bond Arms is based in my wife’s hometown, so I can throw it at them, literally, if it doesn’t work.

Otherwise, Fitelite “reshowed” a modular pistol caliber platform that looks interesting, swappable barrels and mag wells. They first showed it in 2016 or ‘17, but apparently had to redesign it? I’ve been thinking of getting a Trojan Firearms 9mm PC-pistol for STI mags, but may hold out for a bit to see the Fitelite approach. (Especially since I cannot stand the Trojan Firearms dudes on Instagram. I kind of want to punch both of them in the face).

Still would love to see Nordic get their crap together and release more mag wells for their modular lower.

Otherwise, the knife debuts and the Hudson drama are basically keeping me entertained.

I am interested in STI completely revamping their product line. Glad to see it changing and what looks like fresh blood and marketing behind them.

Not only can you buy the film (https://www.amazon.com/Polaroid-Originals-4676-Color-SX-70/dp/B075H5YKL5/ref=sr_1_2?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1548429989&sr=1-2&keywords=polaroid+film+sx-70), you can buy the whole camera (https://www.amazon.com/Polaroid-Originals-4695-Camera-Silver/dp/B075H4WWP8/ref=sr_1_5?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1548429989&sr=1-5&keywords=polaroid+film+sx-70). ;)

(I know, that was rhetorical... I was just curious what the cost would be..)
