Am I safe ordering from LA Police Gear (LAPG)? I've read mixed reviews online but nothing recent, and I trust y'all more than some random on the intertubez.

They have been a great retailer for me, over a dozen purchases in the last year or so.

2/2010 was the last time I purchased something from them, it was uneventful.

I ordered stuff from them twice last year and wouldn't hesitate to do so again.

Awesome retailer. As others have said, wait for the big sales and be patient if it gets back ordered.

I wear various types of khaki pants exclusively now and I paid less for them than I would for jeans from Wal-Mart by waiting for the uber closeout sales on LA Police Gear. I have also gotten some nice deals on other bits of kit from them.

Thumbs up

I've visited them a couple of times in person. Always a good experience.

Ordered several times, no issues, fast shipping, product as advertised. Wait for the sales and you can get some good deals. Their house brand of pants runs a bit small, order one size larger than normal.

Good to go in my experience as well. The one time I had to use their customer service I came out quite pleased.

I can usually find better regular prices for items elsewhere and their shipping is not as lightning fast as those of us who frequent Brownells, Midway, and Amazon are used to, BUT their sales are often gonga deals (just picked up a TLR-1s for $95) and I have been very happy with the quality of the clothing and gear I have purchased from them (I like their rip-stop "tacticool" pants better than my 511s).

All in all, not my favorite retailer, but I don't hesitate to buy from them when the deal is good.

they have some decent sales every once and a while. closeouts on surefire or whatever and i've never had an issue ordering from them in the past. i've ordered parts on back order as well and they were accurate with their estimated times. i wouldnt hesitate to order from them again

The three times I've ordered from them, half the shit ends up backordered. Whether it's on sale or not...

So, I've stopped ordering from them. It's the 21st century, get some real-time inventory tracking FFS.

I've tried to buy some of the heavily discounted closeout items, which turned out to be backordered or no longer available. It's annoying to go through the order process only to find out it is backordered.

I've had issues with them when ordering clothing in Iraq, (backorder) and won't be using them for this deployment.

Thanks for the input, all.

I placed an order on 9-March and it was shipped on 13-March via USPS Priority Mail.

I never got an email stating it was shipped, but in the original purchase confirmation I was advised to check their Customer Service site for updates, so I don't hold this lack of communication against them.

I've purchased a lot of items from them. I never had any issues with them. They tell you before you if the item you're ordering is backordered or not before you add it to your cart.

I wear their Operator pants for work. They hold their color and hold up to all the wear and tear of following a dog around does.

I too use their operator pants, as well as a few other deals when they pop up. Always a good experience here.

Probably my only complaint. I'd prefer a second email with a tracking number.

I've ordered stuff from LAPG 4 or 5 times without issue.

I have a few pairs of the Operator Pants. They are a great option for a cheap pair of range/yard/car-work type pants and worth every penny of $18-20/pair. I like the pocket within a pocket thing they have going with the cargo pockets.

I'll go with Dropkick and Fred.

I consider them to be very much like Optics Planet.......it may be on their website, but it doesn't mean they actually have it, and they don't know when they will actually get it, and the reality is you may never actually get it, and if you do.......you may not need or want it anymore.

I had an X200A from LAPG show up to my house about 2.5 years after I ordered it. So much time had gone by that I had completely forgotten about the order, so I wasn't even upset about it. But by the time it showed up, the X300 was out, and enough of a capability increase that I had switched almost all of my lights to the X300. LAPG charged my card the full amount of the price from 2.5 years prior, even though the cost of X200's had dropped over $75, and the X300 was available for the same price as the X200 intial price/price I was charged.

Their CS did nothing to help make it right, citing the cost of the product at the time I ordered it, and that I knew that was the price, and still placed the order.

Sure they have some good sale prices, but they are far from the only shop in the world that has sale prices.

I bought a pair of pants from them a three weeks ago for a class I have this weekend. I just got an email from them yesterday that said the pants aren't in stock. So yeah...
