Please read the rules (http://pistol-forum.com/showthread.php?1837-Drill-of-the-Week) before participating in this thread.

Week 23: WHO FAST
results may be posted until 11:59pm EST on Monday 12-March-2012.

Range: 7yd
Target: 3x5 card and 8" circle
Start position: concealed or retention holster, arms relaxed at sides ("at sides" does not mean in front of your legs)
Rounds fired: 18-60

This is just running the F.A.S.T. (http://pistol-training.com/drills/the-fast) multiple times using your weak hand only for the draw, reload, and all shots fired. Do it at least three times. If you can do ten runs, that would be ideal.

Only run this week's drill if you have formal professional instruction in the proper way to draw and reload using only your weak hand and you are confident you can do so safely. There are a variety of things that can go wrong if you don't know what you're doing and some of those "wrongs" involve bullets entering your body.

Please report the following when you post your results in this thread:

holster used
score for each run (includes penalties for misses)
draw and reload for each run

If you cannot perform this drill, the alternative DotW is as follows:

Range: 5, 10, 15, 20, and 25yd
Target: the Tom_Jones B16 replacement center (http://pistol-forum.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=282&d=1322428754)
Start position: any
Rounds fired: 50

Fire ten rounds WHO at each distance. Use a separate target for each distance to make scorekeeping easier. Shots that land off the paper score zero.

Please report the following when you post your results in this thread:

score for each distance

Training with firearms is an inherently dangerous activity. Be sure to follow all safety protocols when using firearms or practicing these drills. These drills are provided for information purposes only. Use at your own risk.

And no one won the 200# pin, because no one guessed WHO FAST or 25yd WHO bullseye...

Start position: Gen 4 G17 in Archangel AIWB, concealed by closed-front fleece, spare mag in Ky-Tac pouch.
1: 22.63 (19.63 -1H, -1B) 3.27 draw, 12.91 reload (had to rack the slide, among other ridiculous things)
2: 16.63 (14.63 -1H) 4.48 draw, 6.62 reload
3: 15.78 (12.78 -1H, -1B) 3.76 draw, 5.67 reload
4: 16.45 (14.45 -1H) 4.85 draw, 6.49 reload
5: 16.35 (13.35 -1H, -1B) 3.37 draw, 6.65 reload including racking the slide
6: 11.44 (clean!) 3.07 draw, 5.52 reload
7: 13.26 (11.26 -1H) 3.20 draw, 5.07 reload
8: 13.57 (11.57 -1H) 2.58 draw, 5.88 reload
9: 14.29 (12.29 -1H) 3.45 draw, 5.83 reload
10: 12.55 (11.55 -1B) 3.02 draw, 5.56 reload

Overall Ave: 15.30
Ave Draw: 3.51
Ave Reload: 6.59

...only had 2 runs when I didn't miss one headshot. Every time my sights were on the target (really!)---it was all poor trigger control, and almost always the first shot. Sights in alignment, on target---YANK---and a neat little hole appears in that magical 1-inch 'This Doesn't Count' border around the head card. (I did throw a couple farther than that, but most of my headshot misses were under the card about an inch.)

If I just look at the last five runs, my average drops to 13.02, with a 3.06 average draw and a 5.57 average reload. The two times I didn't miss any headshots occurred in the last five runs. Apparently, I can learn...slowly...

Federal AE9FP 147 gr FMJ fired from G19 w/RMR07 holstered in a AIWB Fricke Seraphim concealed under a soft shell TNF jacket.

WHO:
1. 14.98 clean, 3.48 draw, 9.1 reload
2. 13.45 clean, 3.52 draw, 6.27 reload
3. 13.59 clean, 3.14 draw, 7.22 reload
4. 11.51 clean, 2.97 draw, 6.27 reload
5. 12.57 clean, 3.09 draw 6.59 reload

To make up for last week’s epic failure at direction reading, I repeated the FAST SHO from last week:

SHO:
6. 9.78 clean, 2.16 draw, 5.27 reload
7. 9.89 clean, 2.14 draw, 5.55 reload
8. 9.88 clean, 2.31 draw, 5.33 reload
9. 9.75 clean, 2.12 draw, 5.24 reload
10. 9.67 clean, 2.13 draw, 5.11 reload

----------------------

I also ran the alternate drill:

5 yds = 100-5x
10 yds = 98-3x
15 yds = 95-1x
20 yds = 86-3x
25 yds = 87-1x

Note: My late 2011 production 3rd gen G19 which now has 700 rounds through had the trigger pull weight dramatically increase while shooting today. I will attempt to isolate and diagnose the issue this evening...

Problem fixed by replacing the trigger bar with an older one...

I did the alternate drill for this (of course). And I did it on a range with a max distance of 50 feet, sigh.

Here are the results:

5 yd: 87 1x
10 yd: 69
15 yd: 62
50 ft: 58
50 ft: 67

This large number of WHO shots was definitely more comfortable for me than the same number of WHO shots last month (http://pistol-forum.com/showthread.php?3037-DotW-19-2-Shot-SHO-amp-WHO-Draws&p=52246&viewfull=1#post52246).

As always, thanks!

WHO FAST:

Modified Blade-Tech Nano AIWB concealed with polo shirt

(12.89): 2.82, .90 / 7.11 / .77, .59, .70
(17.15 -1 H, -1 B): 3.09, 1.06 / 8.18 / .62, .56, .64
(13.66 -1 H): 2.78, .80 / 6.38 / .57, .54, .59

Only regret is the poor trigger control. I made sure I moved safely though.

Modified Cane and Derby PIC
IWB mag pouch
from under a hoodie

After last week's accuracy fail, I took my time in getting the hits and pulled out 5 clean runs.

16.51 (C) 4.64 1.56 6.44 1.33 1.35 1.19
16.08 (C) 4.39 1.65 6.62 1.25 1.20 .97
15.41 (C) 4.62 1.62 5.78 1.22 1.06 1.11
15.78 (C) 4.99 1.60 5.69 1.24 1.05 1.21
14.81 (C) 4.55 1.61 5.49 1.13 1.13 .90

Avg. draw: 4.64
Avg. reload: 6.00

Thoughts: I know I could have gone faster but I was most importantly safe and accurate. On the reload I found it most consistent to drop the slide with my thumb as I connected it with my middle finger. This technique "felt" good while providing good control. Splits were slow but I will take clean over my previous fail.
