Well, if you live in TX, NM, AZ, or CA.

Here’s the list of military units headed to the border (https://www.militarytimes.com/news/your-military/2018/11/01/heres-the-list-of-military-units-headed-to-the-border/)

Mostly MPs and Engineers, Medical, Logistics, and Public Affairs well represented, too.

7000 in this lift. More to come?
President Trump: Border force could grow to 15,000 troops (https://www.militarytimes.com/news/your-military/2018/10/31/trump-border-force-could-grow-to-15000/)

A legitimate humanitarian crisis that has been 100% politicized.

But at the end of the day, we absolutely need control of our borders. Hopefully some day sanity will prevail in our immigration laws and policies.

Will be interesting to see how much effort is put into stringing concertina and anti-vehicle ditches versus building tent cities. Also how much time the military Public Affairs until spend escorting media versus proactively filming the units to CYA their activities.

Here are a couple more articles from Military Times, the source of the two above:
Equating rocks with rifles, Trump proposes radical new rules of engagement for troops along border (https://www.militarytimes.com/news/your-military/2018/11/01/equating-rocks-with-rifles-trump-proposes-radical-new-rules-of-engagement-for-troops-along-border/)
Or maybe not:
Here are the rules of engagement for troops deploying to the Mexican border (https://www.militarytimes.com/news/your-military/2018/11/02/here-are-the-rules-of-engagement-for-troops-deploying-to-the-mexican-border/).
President Trump said that military personnel would be authorized to shoot back at rock-throwers, but this is a bit of an exaggeration:

This week. U.S. Northern Command chief Air Force Gen. Terrence O’Shaughnessy said only forces required by their specialty to carry weapons will be allowed to be armed.

The operations order backs that up, directing that “except for law enforcement, force protection, and security personnel who carry an issued firearm for duty on a routine basis, DoD personnel are not authorized to carry individual service weapons during a [defense support for civilian authorities] mission, unless specifically authorized by the [Secretary of Defense.]”

In addition, all ammunition and weapons must be transported in sealed containers, and no service member is authorized to bring a personal weapon.

Deployed border troops are preparing for militias stealing their gear, protester violence, documents show (https://www.militarytimes.com/news/your-military/2018/10/31/deployed-border-troops-are-preparing-for-militias-stealing-their-gear-protester-violence-documents-show/)
I would hope so...

"Militias", lol. Extremist dipshits without normal hobbies groups, or EDWNH (pronounced "Edwin") groups, is more accurate. I'm OK with thieves being shot on sight, or at the very least having hands removed if caught after the act.

Maybe they can get into a fight with the nutjob protestors and both sides can kick the bucket.

Idiots sneaking into the country are overshadowed by our own home-grown idiots.

They wouldn't let us shoot slicky boy in Korea, but we had axe handles.

Not sure if things have changed but the Military Times franchise was not very credible when I was serving.

[quote]“It’s the military. I hope there won’t be that,” Trump said. “Anybody throwing stones, rocks, like they did ... to the Mexican police, where they badly hurt police and soldiers of Mexico ... we will consider that a firearm, because there’s not much difference where you get hit in the face with a rock.”

Maybe not the most eloquent statement, but there's nothing radical there. If rocks are used as weapons and they are large enough to cause serious bodily injury or death, then deadly force could be an appropriate response. It's nice to see that it's not the normal "oh it's just little rocks" statements.

Violated the rules of engagement for combat? Funny, I didn't realize we already had an ROE set in stone for every fight until the end of time.

Maybe they're omniscient gods to know the ROE ahead of time (or maybe they have no idea what they're talking about).

Stone pun intended, and FWIW I identify as a medium sized naval vessel.

The Army Times was great when it ran Fred Red and Michelle McCormick. Those two and the crossword puzzle, and NCO selections...

It must be absolutely demoralizing for the troops to be getting sent into harms way knowing that the CinC has their backs and has placed their safety above political correctness. Who’d want to serve in that military

I read an Army assessment that they only expect 20% of the caravan to get to the US border.

Texas State Guard

The Texas Military Department is composed of the three branches of the military in the state of Texas. These branches are the Texas Army National Guard, the Texas Air National Guard, and the Texas State Guard. All three branches are administered by the state Adjutant General, an appointee of the Governor of Texas, and fall under the command of the Governor.

The mission of the Texas State Guard (TXSG) is to provide mission-ready military forces to assist state and local authorities in times of state emergencies; to conduct homeland security and community service activities under the umbrella of Defense Support to Civil Authorities; and to augment the Texas Army National Guard and Texas Air National Guard as required.

Headquartered at Camp Mabry in Austin, Texas, the TXSG functions as an organized state militia under the authority of Title 32 of the U.S. Code and Chapter 437 of the Texas Government Code.

Multiple states have official State Guard "militia" that are distinct and separate from the Army or Air Force National Guard. The State Guard in Georgia has been active on assisting communities on a volunteer basis for storms, etc. plus searching for lost children, etc. Some of the State Guard has helped when my Georgia Army National Guard unit activated in administrative or professional support roles (medical and legal). They get a bad rap but they serve a useful purpose.

The official state militia isn't what they're worried about. If they were raiding feds for supplies they'd be shut down overnight.

It's the fat militant soverign citizen fucks wearing BDUs that need to be thrown off a bridge. I'm sure Yeager and company will be all over that shit given half a reason.
