I've seen this type of thread at a couple of other places and they're fun.

Today was 9mm and working on the fundamentals day. I've gotten into a bad habit of just wanting to ring the 15yd steel plates at the range so today's primary goal was to stay on the 7yd line and work on front sight focus, DA first shot from low ready and follow through.

I discovered it's real easy for me to get into a groove and start outrunning my sights. Almost 500 rounds between the Shield 1.0 and a pair of Beretta 92 Compacts but there was improvement. At the end of the session I put the last 45-50 rounds through the black 92 on the 2 15yd plates and knew exactly where to hold to get a first round DA hit. It's small progress but it's progress.

Railed 92 Compact I picked up about 3 weeks ago with and without light

Non-railed I picked up a week ago from KG in the Classifieds here

KG said he put about 3000 rounds through it and I believe it. Smooth and easy to shoot well when I take my time. I need to measure the Langdon Tactical panels, they feel thinner than the WC but I don't know if they are or if it's just my perception.

Sighted in the Fastfire on the Scorpion. Still working out light placement vs my hand placement vs the handstop.

No pictures of the Shield or the CMMG .22 AR conversion I put about 100 rounds through. I had to make myself stop with the conversion because I was running out of time to finish up with the Berettas. Man that thing is F-U-N!

Today I shot the G19 as the focus of my range session. No photos because it looks like everyone else’s G19. Worked a little on marksmanship and cadence (Vickers 300, Advanced Super Test, Guerrilla Approach Consistency Target).

I also put 20 rounds through my new AR pistol build to verify function (bolt travels far enough to the rear to feed a new round, bolt locks back on empty after last round, etc).

It still needs sights. I haven’t decided between a red dot and standard irons or a LPVO and offset irons. This might be the thing that finally pushes me over the edge to submit a Form 4 and get a suppressor.

Yesterday was DAO day, with the 92D Compact, and the 10-5.

Today was a match, in the dark, with the 92D Compact and the Evo III. The Evo III is basically shooting with cheat codes enabled (I still need to work on the reloads).

I shot my AR today. I just went back to a stock trigger after several years with a Geissele SSA. I keep an AR for SD and my training as of late has been focused around 0-25 yards, low/no light, and working around structures. I have a 'thing' for a 25 yard hostage-headshot and I thought I had to have a good two stage trigger.

I don't. Even after a lot of rounds and time away, I'm still very comfortable and felt more at home with the stock trigger at close range. My splits are quicker and tighter with less perceived effort. I know that I'll suffer some at the 200 yard line though.

Saturday afternoon, my wife and I met a friend at the range and tried out his 9mm AR. (Local shop build, PSA dedicated 9mm lower, dunno what upper, Vortex tube dot sight with a green dot.) It was the first time either of us had shot an AR or a dot sight. It darn near felt like cheating - on USPSA targets at relatively close range, it seemed like I could crank on the trigger as fast as my finger could go and never land a shot outside of the A zone. 9mm in a rifle, even blowback operated, just doesn't have enough recoil to move the gun much. It *almost* felt like paintball. Something similar may be in our future - I've had a case of the wants for a SIG MPX for quite a while, but not the budget; apparently my friend only spent about $850 on the gun all told, which is a lot more palatable than the $1500 an MPX commands before you even put a sight on it.

Put a little over 100 through the Beretta 92 compacts, 75 or so through a new to me 3.6" version 1.0 M&P9c I traded into last week and 100 though this:

How does it carry compared to saw a SP-101 or even a Glock 26 size gun?

I’m liking it so far, a lot. If you’ve followed the K6 thread, you know that 2 of the forum-owned guns have broken firing pins in dry fire, so I”m keeping mine in "vetting" status for a while.
I’m at around 500 rounds of mixed.38/.357. So far, so good. The only carry is to and from the range. If you’ve owned an SP of equivalent barrel length, then you already know how it rides. G26 is smaller, but the roundness—both overall profile and at each edge, makes this K6 seem at least as easy to conceal, IMHO. I’m using a trigger guard static line for the moment, so there’s no extra bulk. It’s a thin wheelie.

I don't normally take a bunch of different guns to the range but I wanted to try out several things today. I had a couple sets of G10 grips to try out, I just installed a thumb safety on my M&P45, and I just picked up a CZ SP-01 yesterday. We're supposed to be switching from M9's to M17's next year so I wanted to try out some different things with frame safeties. I have an larger safety for the CZ on the way from Cajun.

Top-to-bottom, SA Operator with VZ frag pattern grips in dirty olive, trade-in M&P45 that I had just installed the safety on and removed the magazine disconnect, Beretta 92A1 with StonerCNC grips, CZ SP-01 that is bone stock.

Pretty easy, assuming your frame has the cuts to accept it. You'll need the lever and the detent/spring. I wasn't able to find a video on installing a thumb safety on a gun that didn't have one but I was able to figure it out easy enough from videos about removing the safety. I've done it twice now and I've got two more used M&P's on the way that I plan to do it to. I sold the M&P40 I had that didn't have a notched frame and was able to win an M&P40 2.0 for $50 less than I sold the other gun for.

Played with my 43 today, 70-80 rounds at 10 yards. I got a bit overconfident and ended up dropping 12 rounds.

https://scontent.fapa1-2.fna.fbcdn.net/v/t1.0-9/41356939_10156333435870219_45933257891512320_n.jpg ?_nc_cat=0&oh=14ae402536b1e35c76595f24ee3c1571&oe=5C34009C

I also played with these. I only put 25 rounds through the 92 compact. I got the thing months ago and only just shot it today but despite the stubby grip I think I'll probably keep it. The M9-22 comes with plastic sights that I really need to replace.

https://scontent.fapa1-2.fna.fbcdn.net/v/t1.0-9/41423863_10156333435980219_8626786356292485120_o.j pg?_nc_cat=0&oh=2a8e6ab6dc8a44645f76fb143045ee1e&oe=5C33C9C9

I also shot a sporterized Spanish Mauser carbine but I didn't grab a pic. Like most military rifles from the introduction of smokeless gunpowder through WWI it's sighted in for something like 300 or 400 meters so at 50 it shoots about 8" high. I won the rifle for $87 on gunbroker and it's a pleasant shooting rifle so I might throw a few more bucks at it and see about a taller front sight.

Going to shoot it this weekend, but I'm sufficiently pleased that I want to show it off now - my P30L V1 converted to a P30L SD with a factory threaded barrel. I spent a little time tonight with a dremel cutting a hole in my JMCK for the threaded end and then polishing the rough edges, and am pretty pleased with how well it appears to have come out.

Bergara .308 - tried some match ammo, IMI 168 grain and PNW 175 grain. Both grouped about an inch / 1 MOA for 5 round groups at 100.

PSA .22 AR upper with Holosun RDS and Aguila “Super Extra.” It grouped about 3” at 50 yards. OK but I’ll need to try it with a magnified optic.

G17.5 MOS with bolds at 25 yards. They hang over the rear but I am digging this gun. The Federal Syth coated 150 grain load is plenty accurate.

These pistols were really popular for a very short period of time. I think Springfield shot themselves in the foot (pun intended) by refusing to sell replacement parts for these pistols. People flocked away from them as fast as they flocked to them, mostly because of this.

A few days late, but I shot my first round of sporting clays for a charity event on Friday. Got tapped for a team from work and pulled out the only gauge I had worthy for the job. The old $150 Mossberg that's been sitting in the back of the safe since I bought it almost 10 years ago. No idea what choke was in it, I didn't do that well, but it was the first time in recent memory that I was shooting for fun and not work/training/USPSA/multi-gun.

Funny, that's about what killed them for me. I was getting into USPSA about the time they were the hot ticket and almost got an XD9 Tactical for a Production gun. The lack of availability of parts was a deal breaker so I started to look at Glocks. Couple that with winning a random pistol at a GSSF match and my course was set. Probably for the better.

DDM4v7 laid waste to pumpkins, gourds, 2 litres.

USP9c plates and bowling pins

MP.22c SD. Plates and gourds

P30v3. 2 litres and gourds

Wife's best friend was in town and wanted to hit the range. Hence the variety.

Wife hadn't shot in about 10 months and did very well with the v3 against the gourds.

Love the sound of shooting suppressed against soft targets, the telltale thwack is rewarding.

Quick indoor range trip. Work G17, G19x, Colt 9mm rail gun and Gun crafters 9mm.

Jack ass next to me with an AR with muzzle break doing mag dumps. Dude could barely keep his shots on a B-27 at 10 yards. Made using the shot timer impossible.

Ran some 8” shoot n sees out to 25 yards. Basically shot the Glocks as good or better than the 1911’s just like the last few range trips. Some of it is familiarity and the switching back and forth but reality is Glocks or P320s will be my primary handguns for another 9 or 10 years.

As much as I love 1911’s I may be better off thinning the herd and putting that money into something else.

New to me PX4 Compact. 100 rounds Blazer Brass 115g, 15rds MEN 124g, 15rds Rem 124g Golden Saber. It showed a definite preference for the 124g.

Also put 60 through a Beretta .22 conversion kit on the M9A1 and 92 Compact (30 each) and it shows promise for more than just blasting but it was simply too cold and windy to stick around and start working the steel plates.

This is from yesterday. I wanted to check the zero on my Super Blackhawk. I rarely shoot this revolver (or any revolver, for that matter), but I would really like to kill a deer with it, which is the reason I bought it back in the early '90s. The shot pictured was my first shot, from the bench, at 50 yards, with ~25 year old ammo. This was the first time I'd shot this pistol in over three years. The pictured bullet hole is my personal best ever shot with a pistol. To my great sadness, the subsequent rounds I shot yesterday were not photo worthy.

Even though I'm about an inch of rain away from building an ark...decided to hit the range today. Didn't even bother to set up a target stand (the concrete patio and the berm are high ground, the "floor" of the range is currently a 3" deep pond), just picked out random bits of trash that fucktards have left on the berm and poked holes in them.

Felt like a circle-y gun kind of day.

Also ran a few rounds through my 12 gauge "firearm" that's wearing a barrel from Vang, via GJM.

Ended the day with a few mags out of my carry gun...which is something that I do every time I hit the range.

Too windy to shoot outside today, so I took my 4" 629 and about 100rnds of various handloads to the local indoor range to see what works as a good field load (both in terms of shootability and accuracy).

I used two different bullets, the Lee 310gr WFN-GC and the RCBS 44-250k SWC.
Powders were Alliant 2400 and Unique.

I think I'll be standardizing on the load using the 250gr SWC with 19gr 2400. That'll be my field load. I'll use the same bullet with a near max charge of Trail Boss for fun shooting.

I'll revisit the 310gr loads once I have an opportunity to cast some more.

Those small grips made it kind of rough on my hand even with a leather shooting glove. I peeled the skin back from my thumb just above the first knuckle. :(

Since I got back into TDA after years of trying to like Glocks, I've been wanting to try another HK. Using the small grip panels and back strap this fits my hand almost perfectly. Unfortunately I prefer the trigger of and (so far) shoot a little better with the PX4. Double unfortunately I made a trade with the youngest boy and he got the PX4 before I paid the P30 out. DOH! Looks like I'll need to start looking for another PX4. I might look for a used PX4CC.

Primary Arms ran a special on their blem micro-dots not long ago and for $70 I figured it was worth a try. I don't know what the blem is but if they run the special again, I'll get at least one more. I was using the target to sight in 2-3 other pistols and the 2 circled groups were the last two I used to confirm the sight in, 10 rounds each benched at 7yds. I'm giving serious thought to dropping the Apex trigger kit into it, especially if I can retain the stock trigger instead of having to use a flat trigger.

Carbine match this AM, first with the Eotech. I made hits atop a roof barricade on 300y IPSC steel target, something I could not do with a Micro due to my vision. 200y half IPSC from same shooting position was borderline easy. Up close that donut is nice. Overall, very happy with it thus far.

Just passed 2000 trouble rounds on my 4 inch wilson combat 1911.

Also shot my first 200 rounds through a eotech and have to say I am a fan. Going to see where durability is as I am going to shoot with it for the next year on my mess around rifle. Aimpoint comp m5 still on my "go to" carbine.

Reminded today is a glock world, both guys whom I shot with had glock 9mms. One guy had his slide stop spring snap (I have seen this happen in enough gen 3/ gen 4 glocks I swear its a thing). He had no spare gun or parts but I did, even though I was shooting a 1911. With a roll of pasties, a glock punch, and a new slide stop he was back up and ready to go in a few minutes. Good reminded of why I still have two glock 19s.

Glock 17.5 with Dawson adjustables dialed in at 10 yards.

Got the STI Marauder dialed in at 10.

The 19.4 MOS continues to be an issue with the med backstrap. Though Meduim backstrap works fine for me on G17 grips I am far more consistent with the Large backstrap on the 19s, at least the 19.4.

The M&P seems to have a little more recoil than a G19 while running the plate rack. I hadn’t noticed it before. Maybe it’s just because I was going from the Victory to the 2.0. Next week I’ll bring a G19 and my timer.

Spent some range time with "Thumper" (17" TC Encore in 35 Whelen) testing a few initial loads with my NOE 358009 mould (https://pistol-forum.com/showthread.php?35124-New-mould-for-my-35-Whelen). I also put 100rnds through my G19.3 at 25yds.

35 Whelen: Abysmal results. The plain base bullets were minute-of-berm. I'm not kidding. I couldn't get two shots on paper (the target frame is roughly 3x3 and I had 6 8x10 targets in two rows of 3 stapled to the backer) in a shooting string at 50yds. It was as if the bullets were evaporating. The charge was a starting load of 3031. The gas-checked bullets, using a bit more 3031 than the plain-base bullets, were doing a bit better, giving me roughly 3" groups. Granted, these were loads I literally tossed together at the last moment when my buddy said "let's go to the range". I have lots of dev work to do.

G19.3: The narrower front sight is showing dividends. I'm shooting much better at longer distances. Still not "good" by the standards of this community, but still better than before.

When we went to the range (local IWLA), I didn't realize it was "Women on Target" day. I ended up on a lane next to the lane set up for the target 22lr rifle that the women were cycling through. One lady just had plugs, no muffs. I felt sorry for the punishment I was about to inflict with the 17" Encore, so I loaned her my spare muffs.

Shot a 6” Model 17 in a steel plate .22 “man-on-man” match. There was only one other shooter with open sights. So I only shot against him. Six plates, a miss for me meant reloading. I had the only revolver.

First match was “six and out”. I won a couple strings, but I lost, 6-2-1. Second match was “four and out”, lost 4-1.

Lot of fun was had.

Aguila 147

10 pin match

Cap limited to 10 in gun at a time. A miss would require a slide lock reload leading to a loss, more than likely, depending on pairing. 8 yards, pins set at 3 levels on pallet edge, with red stop pin placed top center.

These pin matches have the shooters draw a number to determine who they pair against for time. So far, I have won all my pairings, and fastest overall time with the exception of one week in which I was beat by .18. Well, this week the two fastest shooters drew each other's number. I managed to lay down a cold, clean run of 6.71, and my opponent shot a 7.12 with a Shadow. With this league, you can shoot as many runs as you want to pay for at $5 each. We had an agreement that only our first 3 could count. Our remaining runs were best described as dumpster fires, as we were trying to get sub 6.

If all goes well next week, I should win the league with my carry gun, which makes me happy.

Shot the G45 MOS for the first time. First time on a RDS equipped pistol too. Only had time for a couple hundred rounds, but was really impressed. I found it pretty easy to pick up the red dot and did some shooting at speed. I think I'm hooked.
What dot were you using? I know it's not exactly apples to apples, but I've found running the Primary Arms Aimpoint-ish dot on my 22/45 when I'm shooting the plate rack at the club almost feels like cheating...

Today's session:

1. Easy warmup with some draws and pairs at 10 yards.

2. 13 reps of position entry easy L to R and 13 R to L. Start facing 90 deg from target 10 yards offset, target is 10 yds downrange. At beep sprint to position in front of target, enter position, two rounds. 50% of starts were holstered, 50% gun in strong hand as if departing a shooting position. Good workout, I learned some things about how to get the gun ready as I'm slowing down and that a tenth or so making sure grip is solid is worth more A's (slower time better HF). I'd say my average time for this drill was in the 4.5 - 4.6 sec range with splits in the .25 range when I nailed the grip.

3. 10 reps shooting on the move 90 deg to target L to R and 10 more R to L. Target 7 yards downrange, start position 7 yards offset. Learned how much I have to straighten my left (non-dominant) arm to keep from dragging shots left out of the A zone particularly when SOTM left to right. Surprised myself with how fast I could shoot while moving (sub .2 splits) when the draw and grip were right.

P-09 drawn from USPSA rig (DAA double belt, DAA Racer mag pouches, Comp-Tac International on BOSS hanger), 100 rounds expended.

I don't normally take sucha hodge-podge to the range but these are all guns I haven't shot yet and I wanted to try them out.

The M9A3 is a pleasure to shoot but I would like to change the sights. I will probably send this one off eventually for a trigger job, sights, and to have a second barrel cut flush with the slide. As it comes it's absolutely a great handgun and the trigger is pretty nice. But being a pizzagun fanboi and all I think I'll splurge on this one.

The USP will let you know you're not gripping it hard enough by just plain being uncomfortable to shoot. At first I didn't like it but I often find myself not gripping handguns hard enough so this will probably be good for me in the long run. Plus it's too cool for me to get rid of.

I almost forgot to grab mags for the Glocks so I just grabbed the first mag I found, a 21 round Pmag. It wasn't broken in yet so it failed a bunch and I gave up on it. All my other GL9 mags took a lot of cycles to break in and start working so I'll find something to push on the follower and cycle it a bunch and see if that helps.

Thanks. It was probably the most difficult revolver to shoot that I can remember. The trigger was so heavy and so narrow that it was easy to jerk the sights out of alignment. Shooting a S&W, Colt or Ruger is almost effortless in comparison. With the vented rib, I can only it was what the gun would be if Hi-Point tried to copy a Python.

I can't think of anybody I dislike enough to suggest the Windicator as a possible purchase. Whoever designed that gun should have to test-fire every one coming off the production line.

I agree, and it is not just fun; I have learned a lot just by trying guns other people customized, especially Glock and 1911-pattern guns. It is just not possible to build and/or buy every possible feature or part choice, and how the gun feels is irrelevant. But a magazine or two of range time can be very useful; it, at the very least, eliminates the "not for me" features. One day I rented 1911-pattern guns with 20 lpi, 25 lpi, and 30 lpi checkering to see which worked best for me. I found 30 lpi checkering to be no better than STIppling and that 20 lpi works well for me.

8-3/8" S&W Model 14 (I could hit end-on bowling pins with it.)
AK pistol in .223

An ugly 9mm SMG with a retractable buttstock that was sized for midgets.
AR-18
FAL

Single-shot Barrett .50. I'm not sure what this puppy was; the bolt was in the buttstock. When one opened the bolt, the buttpad and a shellholder for the cartridge came out. It was heavy, had an impressive muzzle blast, but shot from a makeshift rest, it wasn't too hateful.

It was a long, aggravating winter, followed by a lot of windy, rainy, "spring" days.
Today it was warm with no bugs at the range. On the way there lots of apple trees in
bloom. I saw a deer, sort of scruffy looking still, eating alongside a wet spot full
of yellow cowslip flowers next to the highway. Heard, but did not see, a large flock of geese.
Kept an eye out for sandhill cranes but didn't see any.

At the range I shot an AR carbine, a Remington 1100 slug gun, a pin gun made on
a PARA P14 and a 657 snubnose (three inch). Got the Ar sighted-in with 55 grain
South African PMP .223 ammo. Had an abrupt reintroduction to 12 slug recoil, (ow!) and
ammo problems with the handguns, but still had a good trip to the range.

I have a TacSol .22 conversion that was having light strikes. I figured I'd try a regular Glock 6# striker spring I had laying around but that wouldn't set rounds off at all. Then I was going to run some drills with the 34 from the holster but the front sight on the 34 was just below the bottom edge of the holster and got caught. Hard. I thought I was going to have to take my belt and holster off to get the gun out. So had to work on other stuff. About the only thing that went right today was the weather. It was last week at The Pin Shoot in Central Lake.
Shot a bit of this and a bit of that, including a .45 ACP pin gun,
a short .41 Mag revolver, and two pin shotguns, one of which actually worked.

Continued with a .22 Ruger Precision rifle, a .223 rifle, and a .45 H&K subgun.

FA stuff was a BAR, .22 AR, (ran like a sewing machine, no recoil to speak of), .223 carbine, (loud), and a M1 Thompson.
"Give me that old time rock and roll..."

This week may be a bit boring in comparison.

Went to the range Saturday night. I ran a hundred or so rounds through my G19.3 and 50 through my j-frame.

Observations:
I have somehow started to pull the trigger with the pad of my finger instead of the first joint. This is why I started shooting way left. Moving back to the first joint brought my groups more in line. I need to make sure I focus on that with the airsoft trainer. However, for reasons I can't explain, I still shoot leftish with my carry ammo (HST 147gr), but am dead on with bulk pack stuff. I suppose I could drift my rear sight a touch, but I need to understand *why* this is happening.

Shooting my Glock and Ruger 22/45 a lot lately has screwed me up on my J-frame. I'm starting to hit very high. I feel like I have to aim down (I'm not, it just feels that way). I also can't see the j-frame sights for shit anymore (aging eyes). I painted the front sight white, but only the bit I should see in a proper sight presentation. I hope this resolves my tendency to shoot high as well as the difficulty I'm having seeing the sights to begin with.

At least I didn't have the experience my friend had. His NIB gat suffered a fight-ending failure within about 20 rounds. Brand new gun and first time at the range with it. Ouch.

I shot nothing but a G17.4 with an Advantage Arms conversion kit on it as I have started pushing second shots downward on the timer with my G17. I hoped the lack of recoil would allow me to see what I am doing and fix it. Sure enough, I am pulling the gun down too much and dropping the front sight too low in the notch. I worked on that on Saturday afternoon and Sunday late morning until the combination of temperature, humidity, and no breeze forced me back into the house.

The kit, which I bought on the forum, had a disclosed issue with not wanting to run and the first few strings I got to work on my stoppage drills. Had several fired cases stuck in the chamber. There was a very small (needed a 10X loupe to see it but could feel it) burr on the chamber where the firing pin hits the rim. The barrel relief, machined into the barrel, needed a tiny bit of work. That helped reduce the frequency of extraction issues but did not solve the issue. Figured out it needed to be cleaned and the slide rails lubed wet (much more than a Glock needs) as well as fed ammo it likes. In this case, the ammo was Federal 40-grain RN Game-Shok. Getting the kit to run was more fun than diagnosing my trigger control issue. I ended up shooting 110 rounds in focused practice.

405 rounds with the LTT, 238 of those on steel. Mix of 150 rounds 147 gr Blazer brass cased flat nose and my usual 115 Fiocchi being the balance. My perception is the 147 Blazer hits a little lower than the Fiocchi. Anyway, it was my first trip to the range just to practice, ie not for a match, in a few weeks. Today was a .22 day for me. I shot a lot of guns I wanted to shoot over the winter, and couldn't due to cold
wind and snow. (Winter lasted till early May here this year.) Then we had rain enough
for folks to dredge up the old childhood rhyme, "Rain, rain go away..."

Started out with a Marlin 39A lever .22. It is a slim, well-balanced rifle with
Skinner "ghost ring" peep sights installed. Shot it off the bench and offhand.
I need to practice offhand after shooting poorly from it at the recent pin match.

Next up was a Chiappa AR 22 upper on a Rock River receiver. Also shot from
bench and offhand. The AR 22 has a four power scope so was easier to see the
targets, also showed more wobble because of the magnification.
Range for both was 25 yards and then 50 feet.

Then a Charter Pathfinder .22 revolver. Nice small six shot revolver with adjustable
sights. I painted the front sight orange some time ago. OK groups at 50 feet.

Then a Colt Woodsman four-inch at 50 feet. Had a bit of trouble extracting the Federal
plated hollowpoint .22 ammo. Best trigger of the bunch and very well balanced
in the hand. Always fun to shoot.

Another couple shooters were firing a German Mauser, a Ruger No. 1 in .45-70, and
a Ruger Vaquero .357. A friend brought a couple of Taurus revolvers in .357 as
well.

Yesterday I finally got a chance to zero my Ruger American Ranch in 300 Blackout. These are the last two 3 shot groups at 100 yards, prone off a bipod. I also shot a couple mags each from my 2.0 Compact M&P and my issued M&P15 and 10 rounds from my new Ruger Bisley 44 Special.

What, people actually shoot their guns?!? O.o (Yeah, you could say it's been a bit tricky to get range time this year... But hey, I've shot over 400 rounds of 9mm this year! :p )

RO didn’t like that I had to pick up an empty magazine and insert it in order to drop the hammer.

The trigger pin in my Argentinian High Power clone is not coming out. So I haven't been able to disable the magazine disconnect. I use an empty magazine body as my unload-and-show-clear tool. Very easy to show the SO that there are no rounds in that mag...

I sold all of my 13/15 round mags before I moved. I only had four mags at the match, so I couldn't spare an empty one. More are on order.

The mag disconnect is staying in. I'm not relegating it to range-toy-only mode. I rounded the edges of the hammer so it doesn't rip up my t-shirts.

Practiced with my carry G-19 and some new reduced loads that I have been working up to help with the arthritic hands and wrists. 3.8 gr HP38 and 124 gr FMJ gives an average of 1001 FPS and a surprising SD of 6. Better SD than my normal load of 4.5 gr HP-38 and the same bullet at 1107 FPS.

The light load is noticeably lighter but not so much that it changed how I shoot my drills. I mixed in the new load, old load and my carry ammo (got to refresh it periodically) and It shot pretty much the same WRT splits and transitions. Gonna stick with it for practice and maybe back with the old load for IDPA. This new load is 124.87 power factor and IDPA needs 125.

I have been able to shoot 3 of the last 4 days, practice at my club on the 4th, took my boss, visiting from Australia, to a local indoor range for an hour of fam fire with various pistols and rifles on the 5th and had a great practice today. If this pace keeps up, I will be a happy camper.

I ran one of my G19s at an indoor range  and focused on distance shooting. 15, 20 and 25 yards - 200 rounds.

I did OK, but I’m trying to work on the things I’m not as good at doing. Another way of saying focusing on my weak points.

I wear .75 magnifying lenses to give me a sharp front sight, and that means a B8 is a fuzzy blob at 25 yards. Gotta talk to my eye doc about some real shooting glasses.

I did 345 rounds of steel practice on Friday. On Saturday, I shot a uspsa match and was super down on myself after just performing way under what I am capable of, modest as even that is. Today I did a 350 round class at Firearms Academy of Seattle on moving - moving while shooting, moving targets, shooting moving targets on the move. It was a good class that restored a bit of confidence in my shooting, which I needed. I’ll try to do an AAR on it.

Who made your holster?

That’s a Blade-Tech WRS level 3. Unfortunately good (Safariland ALS) duty holsters for 22x series Sigs with optics don’t exist and probably never will. So, I settled for this. I have a Dara duty holster that I like the hood release much more, but the shank on it is not sturdy enough and the holster moves around too much when you go to draw it. It works great when you use the included leg strap, but not without it. I can’t use the leg strap on duty so it’s no bueno.

Got to shoot a suppressed M1A with a binary trigger, adjustable gas block and AAC 762SDN. I’ve shot M14s on auto before and was just as uncontrollable as I remember. 1) Holy gas to the face Batman! Worst gas blowback of any suppressed weapon I’ve yet fired. 2) binary trigger might be a cool range toy in a PCC but in 7.62 NATO ? Not so much.

Got to shoot a cool original 1911.

Wow that was quite a line up! Years ago I shot a friends M1A Match he'd had a local guy customize the trigger. "Wait till you see how sweet that trigger is." he says.

Well from the bench I settled in for the awesomeness and it doubled on every dang press. Just two that way was nasty.

My 700 .308 in the superb KRG Bravo chassis (https://www.brownells.com/rifle-parts/stock-parts/rifle-stocks/rem-700-bravo-s-a-chassis-prod113643.aspx). Five shots at a hundred on a one inch target, apparently it's impossible for me to shoot a decent group.

I went to Elite Shooting Sports in Manassas today and ran 50 rounds through my J-frame, 50-rounds through my LCR, and 100 rounds through my G19.3. A grip change on my J-frame and copious draw-and-dry-fire on my Glock seem to have solved my POI issues (high for the j-frame, left for the Glock).

Virtually all of the shooting was done against a timer and was merely draw-and-fire-one drilling to rebuild my fundamentals. I set a time that was barely challenging, but gave me time to correct any immediately noticeable problems as my goal was to fix my issues rather than get the fastest time.

Things are much improved, though I'm still undecided about the LCR. It isn't bad, but I think I like the j-frame better.

Apparently you have very high standards for you and your factory gun, on bags and a bipod

.67 MOA is good shooting in my book.

I'm really starting to like my Bravo stock. Fantastic value.

Yesterday I did 210 rounds on steel and 255 on cardboard with my Elite LTT. She’s at 5895 now.

I’ve also been carrying my full-size inox 92 lately. Back to the future I guess.

First time shooting in over a month since the broken foot. Shot mostly my “Wilson” 92G Compact Carry, with MecGar 15 round magazines. Also put a couple mags through my G19. About 350+ rounds, much variety.

On my last range trip, my primary (oldest) G19 was shooting to the right, I put it aside and switched to my secondary G19 for the rest of the session and for carry this past week. I detail stripped it during the week, didn't find anything wrong, cleaned and reassembled it.

I sighted it in today and drifted the rear sight .145" left. (Not that big of a nerd, just had the dial calipers handy.) Now both guns are shooting dead on at 15 yards. I need to find a better "shoot from a rest setup" than "rest my hands on my bag, spread my legs, scrunch down low and shoot". I got better groups standing up and taking my time than from the "rest".

I have no idea why POI shifted 3-4" to the right at 15 yards on this gun. It got a new glock barrel 2 years ago and was sighted in correctly then. Maybe the barrel just wore in a little in 2 years.

My club has added cameras on all the action bays, located on the right sight of the covered firing lines, with a radio/wifi link up to the main education building. I don't know if they are pan and tilt or just fixed wide angle lenses.

This club has allowed organized practice in the action bays, in the past they must have a certified USPSA or IDPA RO present and must be scheduled. Now, in addition, the organizers of these practices have a 18x24" sign that has their name on it with words identifying it as an organized practice, they must show it to the camera then display it prominently in the bay so that everyone can see it.

I'm guessing that some folks have been setting up unauthorized practices and running stages/scenarios that are not allowed. It sucks that because some folks skirt the rules that we now have to have the Pinkerton Eye on every bay. I understand the liability issue.

This club requires a clean background check or LTC (License to Carry) to join. You have to pass a one-on-one shooting safety evaluation from one of the designated club safety officers, attend an orientation meeting and be voted in at a general meeting by the membership. Thugs, shit stains and unsafe retards don't get in.

I always shoot from the covered firing line, ensure that target placement results in the shots hitting the lower part of the berm and follow the rules, I use to be a certified IDPA SO and a RA RSO. From now on if my target is 5" in front of the allowed distance, I'm not sure if I now need to add a "shooting while in a disguise" portion to my training. Maybe a Brock Samson mullet.

The night before last I got to the range with my PX4 D with the new-to-me TLR-HL mounted on it, my first time ever shooting a pistol with a WML. I was surprised to find three other guys there, shooting under the rather dim range lights. I put up an IDPA practice target at about seven yards and ran through a box of Magtech 115-grain and five rounds of 124-grain +P HST (my carry ammo). Things I noticed:

That light sure is bright, especially on a light-colored target
My mind was somewhat confused doing two things at once (depress momentary switch, pull trigger) when shooting more than one round at a time
No whining about sight picture with that much contrast
The WML overpowers the muzzle flash, even with the relatively flashy HST

I shot mostly singles and pairs from ready. Accuracy was about the same as shooting in daylight, recoil was less probably due to the added weight.

I'm going to swap the light over to my currently-unemployed M&P .40 and do this again. If it works out at least as well with the M&P, I'll probably leave it on there and make the M&P my dedicated nightstand gun.

SW 1911Sc - scandium Commander. Decided to shoot out various Hornady, DPX, Corbin, Sig - HP as well as WWB. Gun ran without a hitch with all the various rounds. Recoil was not a problem. Usual 0 or 1 hits except for for a head shot that decided to go to hard cover and one target that I forgot to double tap after one shot and then a reload.

I am spending more time on long range rifle plus I will be hunting out west again in October - took my Ruger Precision Rifle 22 and worked on trigger control at 25 years off bench. Lots of fun shooting the RPR 22 and no reloading to feed it required!

Finished the range trip with about 100 rounds through my SA RO 1911 9mm. Used multiple steel targets and practiced 25 yard slow fire, then draws with 1 shot, draws with 2 shots, and draws against multiple steel.

My M&P15-22 wouldn't lock open on the last round. Did a little googling and the fix is to trim about a coil and a half off the BHO return spring. I did that and now it locks open every time. I'm guessing S&W is using a spring for a centerfire rifle and the rimfire mag springs don't have enough force to engage the BHO before the bolt moves forward. Now the only issue with it is that the mags don't drop free. Other than that it runs like it's competing in the Olympics.

Shot my PX4 at the local USPSA club's annual championship match. I did okay on five of the six stages. That sixth stage had a Texas star behind two no-shoots with about a two-plate-wide opening to engage it. My intense hatred for Texas stars was reinforced. The gun ran fine, though it did show its dislike for Magtech 115 hardball by needing a smack on the back of the slide at LAMR on one stage to get the round up the feed ramp. It ran fine when shooting. And I'm out of that stuff now, finished the match with S&B 124 hardball.

I did have an eye-opening moment during one stage. I failed to properly seat a magazine during a reload and got the dreaded bang-click. I did a tap/rack and finished the stage with no further drama. At the unload-and-show-clear I noticed my left index finger was bloody. I did an overhand grasp when I racked the slide and apparently, the stock decock lever nailed me with its sharp leading edge. Need to decide which levers I'll replace them with, probably the 92-style ones.

I picked up a used Savage 10 BVSS 223 for practice and take some wear off the 6.5CM. Mounted scope etc last night and had a zero day. Also put a new scope on my 20 inch 6.5 Grendel AR so had to zero it. Both shot well - lots of fun. 100 rounds of practice through the M&P 2.0 5 inch FDE 9mm.

I'm taking Greg Ellifritz's snub revolver class later this year. I put a few rounds through each of my 642s and my SP101 as I'd not fired any of them for a while. I also zeroed my Ruger American Rimfire with the can, and fired a few mags through my M&P40 2.0C.

Back when I moved out on my own for the first time and bought my first shotgun my dumbass bought a bunch of slugs and 3" buckshot and it's been sitting in an ammo can for the last 15 years. So today my dumbass shot all of it to see if the foreend was more fragile than my shoulder. Both still work but the TL-racker seems to have held up better. And the XS big dot is fucking awesome.
