Glock 19-5 direct milled for a Holosun 507c. Shot a single FAST as a demo in front of coworkers during quals. Managed a 6.40 clean. Not too shabby considering I barely shoot anymore outside of quals with life just getting in the way. We had fewer people than expected show up so we finished early and I was able to do some of my own shooting once quals and training were done for the day. I managed a 98 on the Old Bakersfield PD qual. I lost a point for one shot just outside of the 8 ring of a B8 at the 10 ft stage and another for going overtime at the 20 ft stage with a time of 2.01. Then a little pressure at distance. Defoor Hat Qual was a fail 80/100 in 14.59. I shanked one completely off the 8.5”x11” B8 printout so I lost 10 points going into it. I tried the Presscheck No Fail Shot and came the closest I’ve ever come to passing. Only 5/10 in the black but all my misses were close. Nothing left the 8 ring. Most of the reps were around 2.6s or so. I need to throttle it back a little bit and use another quarter to half second or so per shot to clean things up. Next I tried to push some concealed draw speed up close and that’s where things went wrong. I had several draws at 3y of 1.05s, 1.01s, etc. I decided to really hit the gas because I’ve never been able to pull off a sub-second draw. Well, I managed a 0.99s that did hit the 8.5”x11” paper. The bad news is I had a terrible strong hand grip and my thumb was in a bad spot. The slide took a chunk of skin off my thumb about the diameter of a pea. I bled like a stuck pig for a bit and decided to call it a day. I’ll ask one of the other instructors to shoot the demo tomorrow because my hand hurts.

I loaded up 50 rds of the 13.5 gr Blue Dot load and got out to the 100yd range. This first pic is the best group that I could, using the cheap plastic bipod on a heavy wooden table.
102617
While I appreciate the one X ring, the group is entirely unsatisfactory.
After burning more ammo and getting worse results including many rounds not on the paper, I moved to the 80 yd range and started experimenting with different rests and shooting methods. I don't have any sandbags but I do have a 8"x"10"x12" wooden box that I put a pad on, then used my support hand to hold pressure down over the barrel/forend. This seemed to keep this light rifle steady enough until the bullet had left the barrel. The groups sure tightened up.
Using this, I was able to pull off the 3 shot group below before shooting 2 more high fliers.
102619
I then switched to shooting a 10 plate at 80 yards with good results. I was able to hit 3 out of 5 offhand on the plate.
Conclusions:
This is an 80 yard rifle on it's best day. The Romeo5 makes it fun to shoot as opposed to the "devised in hell" Ruger fold down tiny little dent rear sight. (hack, spit)
102621
I got a working 240gr JSP load that I will use for loading my 27 Hornady JHP bullets left over from 20 years ago. I have a crap ton of load data for when I get a 44 lever action or pistol. I sure wish that I had never sold my Bicentennial Edition 44 Super Blackhack.
This project is done, these proceedings are closed...for now.

Glock 42 with WWB FMJ. Gun ran fine, no problems. It was stinker when new and had to go back. Lately, no problem. Carry gun match so 380 was legit. One fellow said that he gets frustrated getting the 380s out of the 9 mm empties for reloading. I don't reload.
First stage, it was a touch squirmy and I had to tighten up my grip on the little guy. Othewise decent hits.

Spent about two and a half hours at the range Sunday which was probably an hour and a half longer than I should have stayed. After an hour I was really just turning money into noise but I said screw it because I needed some recoil therapy and some “me time”. I did learn a few things though.
Since I’ve been carrying the 442 more, I figured I might oughta actually shoot the silly thing. I learned that with the unknown gunshow reloads I bought 10+ years ago (SWC, probably 158gr, velocity of who knows), it shoots a foot high at 10 yards. Fortunately I’ve got 2 different brands of wadcutters on the way so I’m anxious to try it out with a proper, known loading. Also there’s a sharp edge inside the front of the trigger guard that needs to be addressed.
102772
Did a little work with the K6 Target and GP100. As much as I hate to admit it, I need a set of Goodyears for the Kimber. Something full size without finger grooves.
102773
102774
Put over 100 rounds through the Black Kraken confirming the stiff bolt problem I had last time was operator headspace and timing induced. Turns out if you over tighten the takedown screw in the back it causes the bolt to drag and the associated issues that creates. Backing it off fixes the issue. Those were the last two targets but I did much better on the others. I promise.:o

Thanks, this is a no lock mid-00s production so it will be interesting to see how it likes 148gr wadcutters.

Hit the range on monday to zero a few rifles. Had two scopes returned from warranty (brownell's MPO & Trijicon) and a third that is new along with the rifle it sits on : Bergara B14 ridge and a SWFA 3-15x42.
I really like the ridge. Picked it up recently on sale at LGS. The B14 ridge checked a lot of boxes - short, light, threaded from factory. Threw it in the HMR Pro stock I had sitting around after I swapped that into the Magpul chassis; used a dremel to take the paint off the recoil/action lugs to get metal-on-metal mating surfaces.
The AR-15 is a gun I've had for a while that I got back from the smith in february. Had him pull the BA SS barrel and replace it with a compass lake 16" recon profile barrel spun from a Douglas blank. It is a shooter. Shot it much better than the 2 Bergaras, though I am a sucky rifleman and it was cold, so I wore gloves. I've always struggled with SA trigger so assume I have some room for improvement there. Still, you can see on my target that after getting rough zero (top right), refining it (center) and then confirming (top left) the gun is capable of sub MOA even with my lazy shooting and fliers.
Looking forward to taking them out again soon.

Second time making it to the range this week, put a cylinders worth of Double Tap WC and Remington +p Golden Sabers through my 442 as they have been in the gun for quite a while and my speed loader with the GS went through the washing machine. No issues thankfully. Then put my remaining 15 Speer 135gr. 357s through the Model 19-3, I forgot how much fun shooting 357 is.

Following that I worked with the Milks Colt on some movement, and various drills, decided to shoot a FAST drill as I had a few targets I printed on 9*11 paper and I hadn’t shot one in over a year. My first run was glacial as I just wanted to get my hits and a “feel” for the tempo, second run I fumbled the reload hard and ended up in the mid/uppers 5s, third run was crisp and I turned in my best time to date. I’ve been shooting a lot lately and am probably performing better than I ever have, for me consistent dry fire has never helped me this much. Maybe I’m cheating during dry fire idk, maybe there’s no replacement for live 45 recoil, but I hope to keep the streak going.

It was blustery yesterday so I figured that was a good time to go out and practice shooting in the wind with a .22LR at various distances at 72, 110, 199, and 307 yds. Calculating elevation holds is straight forward once I have my dope trued for various distances. How much wind to hold, that’s the million dollar question!
103050
Winds were switchy, anywhere from 4 o’clock to 5:30 and averaging 5-6 mph with gusts over 10. If I can spot my miss on the plate (off to one side or another) I can usually figure out how much I missed by and correct for the next shot. However in a match setting, that’s a loss of a point or maybe the stage only gives you one attempt at each distance. So my goal is first round impact at each distance. I was using all the tools, Kestrel, wind indicator flag, if the wind died on the back of my neck mid-string…
Suffice to say, if only I can figure out the wind-thing I’d be a fricken rock-star.
I also spent most of my time shooting off tops of props such as tank traps, barrels, tires, etc.

My G5 G17, SRO. Performance by moi was mediocre. Having a touch of bad arthritis in my support hand and a crappy grip. Ouch, whining, wah, wah. Gun ran fine. Saw a possible ND, guy drew and round went off from waist level down range. RO discussion was that it wasn't a DQ as the gun was pointed down range at a target and no rule that you had to bring it up to sighting level even though a clear booboo. The shooter said it was a booboo, but if he had hit the ceiling or floor that would have been it. Going to the square range to practice grip a bit. Damn hand hurts! Wah, wah.
After a year of owning the 1301, I finally found a range that allows shot, not just slugs. I put 10 rounds of Flight Control through it to get a rough zero along with some generic buckshot. I like it but the manual of arms is quirky enough that it's going to stay in the back of the safe until I can get some real time/training on it.
The GP100 is the first handgun I ever bought and I've had the Python for about a year. While I like the Python, it really doesn't do anything better than the Ruger (and the cylinder gums up quicker). I'm a big fan of Blazer 158 grain .357s for range ammo--much more accurate than Blazer in other calibers and it gives you enough thump to know it's not a .38 without the carpal tunnel of a hot .357.

I shot the April Rangemaster drill of the month with my Shield Plus. I shot poorly on the first stage, scoring 131 (135 is passing). There were some other B8 based drills in the newsletter so I shot a couple more, the Baseline Skills Assessment and Five Yard Roundup. I was going to shoot the M&P9 CORE/ACRO but found the battery dead and hadn’t replaced the spare battery I kept in the truck. I ended up shooting the Rangemaster Bullseye course and The Test with my 2.0 Compact. I also put a few cylinders of Punch and Velocitor through the 43C. I had one round of each fail to fire for some reason. Each round fired when I ran it back through. I probably ought to clean it as I’ve not cleaned it since I bought it.
103123
I had to turn in my issued Remington PSS when I retired. I’ve had this Remington LTR for years but haven’t shot it for a long time. It has a Bushnell Tactical 3-12. I checked the cold bore and fired a three round group of Federal 168 grain. I’m taking it to a Forge Tactical course next month so I’ll be working with it till then.
I also shot my M&P15 with the Leupold 1-4 Hog Hunter with the old Hornady steel case training ammo.
103124
I then shot my CORE/ACRO and confirmed the zero with the 135 +P Hornady Critical Duty.

I found the Dot Torture drill target on Pew Pew Tactical so I printed one out and took it and my M&P 22 Compact to the range. The cardboard I mounted it on wasn't wide enough for the range's target holder so I had to shoot it sideways. That just means the double-dot drills were vertical instead of horizontal. No "draw" allowed so all drills were from "ready". 50 rounds.
Set at 5 yards:
1: 5 rounds slow fire
2: "Draw" 1 shot x5
3-4: "Draw" 1 in 3, 1 in 4 x4
5: "Draw" 5 shots strong hand
6-7: "Draw" 2 in 6, 2 in 7 x3
8: "Ready" 5 shots weak hand
9-10: "Draw" 1 in 9, reload, 1 in 10 x3
103171
Unfortunately I ran the whole drill without scoring each segment so I can't really tell how well I did. None on 10 is an indication that there's room for improvement! Lots of holes where they don't belong.
At least I got all 50 on the paper.

Eh, I’m not real sure yet. I’m 26-less at the moment, but wanted something in between the 19 and 43, so I got the 48.
I may just use it as an off-duty gun. I’m interested in the 26 MOS, so I may get that as a smaller duty gun just to maintain magazine compatibility. We’ll see.

Last weekend I shot a local match with my Range Officer Elite. Well, I started to shoot the match with it. On the last shot of the first string the gun locked up, and the slide would not even cycle. Turned out is was bad ammo, in which the casing stuck in the chamber after firing. I finished the match with my LTT Centurion.
I was able to remedy the problem once home, and went Wednesday to confirm the issue was solved.

Short trip to the range yesterday. Confirmed zeroes on my two 16" SPR-ish builds that are probably two of my favorite rifles. Black rifle has a Compass Lake tactical (midweight contour) barrel, tan rifle has complete White Oak Armament 16 SPR" (~4oz heavier in contour) barreled upper. Former has a 2-10x36 trijiicon credo, latter a 3-15 PST2 Viper that I keep thinking I will replace with something better... but it just works. Glass is great for price, holds zero no problem, reticle is basically ideal for my eyes.
Both are tack drivers. Even shoot crummy 55gr range fodder well. Was going to take them to the silhouette range after this, but found it was under active construction and closed to public.
To console myself, shot a few handguns I had brought along on a lark instead. Only photo I got of that is my 22/45 - group was shot from 20yd. The 22 Warlock silencer finally arrived recently and man it is a hoot. I really need another .22 pistol... and maybe another .22 silencer....

Not sure if this should be a "What did you shoot today?" or a "The world around you" post 😀
I spent the weekend down in southern Utah hanging out with my older son. There is a range just north of Zion NP, and we brought along a 16" SR-15 with a P4Xi and a Bergara B14R 22LR.
103618
103619
With the SR-15, we got bored with hitting the targets at 140, 303, and 410 yards, and decided to try a flat rock at 605. Ammo was 69 grain reloads and we found that the drops on the BDC reticle were just a little high.
Picture taken through the scope with the rock circled, about a 2 MOA sized target.

I hit the range after work today and just brought my carry piece as I normally do. Started with Dot Torture at 4 yards and shot a 49/50 going way faster than I normally would, lost focus and dropped a WHO shot. Then I decided to shoot some bill drills both from a Level 1 SL and my concealment rig. Somewhat surprising was I just a hair faster from AIWB, and ended up with my fastest bill drill to date. Now to be fair it was 5As and 1C but considering that C wasn’t far out of the A zone I’ll take it. To be honest I don’t know how much faster I can physically go with a 45 and my full power hand loads (load a max charge of HP-38), but I’m considering loading something more “mid-level” to see if I can reduce my splits just for fun.

3rd Gen Glock 26 with Trijicon night sights in an outdoor, short range mini gun USPSA style match. 51 As, 1 C. One of the best A counts. Totally crap time totals as I meander between shooting places. Took a couple of make up shots for visible Cs. Reason, practicing for hits more than time. Fastest folks, lots of Cs, but some with lots of As also. Fun match, fun guys. Complimented on being 75 and still banging away. Bah, don't like being old. Better than the alternative though. Still got the hand strength. Recoil, racking, not a problem.
Was bright out and some folks said it washed out their dots.

Over the past couple years I've been able to acquire some nice pieces but haven't had much time to actually shoot them. Today I managed to get a few of them out for some trigger time.
Aero Precision M5, 18" barrel. Put 100 round of British surplus through it, had a single instance where it didn't pick up a fresh round for some reason but it was noticeably stiff being a brand new gun and all.
NEF Handi-rifle in .223 with a Leupold 2-7 on top. Got the scope dialed in and was having fun busting dirt clods when the extractor stuck.
103908
Very common issue on these guns. But I didn't have a cleaning rod or any way of clearing it or cleaning it so I set it aside and moved on.
P365 didn't kick as much as I expected, but it is a small 9mm and still kicks a bit. It aggravated the problems I've been having with my wrist so I only shot 50 rounds but it didn't balk. Fortunately I have an appointment with a specialist tomorrow to get my wrist looked at and hopefully I can get that fixed soon.
Finally I brought a .45 Hi-Point. A buddy at work had bought it and never shot it so he let me have it for $100, still unfired. These things don't kick very much but the slides are so heavy that they make the gun very flippy. Whatever, I just think it's funny to have in the safe with all the much nicer guns I have managed to collect over my years.
I also brought my .38 LCR but I forgot to bring any .38 special ammo.
Lately I’ve been shooting more rifles than pistols. In April, I only shot one USPSA match but I shot 4 rifle matches this month: a rimfire PRS match, a rimfire NRL22 match, a PRS centerfire match, and a centerfire long range varmint steel match. Plus a few practice sessions between matches.
All that practice is paying off. I won the rimfire PRS match, took 2nd place in the NRL22 match, placed 5th in the varmint match plus a bump to EXP class, and placed 11th in the centerfire PRS match. Wind calls continue to be my biggest challenge, but overall I’m pretty happy with my match performance given the ‘heat’ in those matches. In the rimfire matches, the delta among the top 3 is coming down to one hit/miss and bonus time points.
My rimfire rifle is a Vudoo V-22 w/ 22” no-taper Bartlein barrel in a XLR Envy Pro chassis. My centerfire is an Impact 737 action w/ Proof competition contour barrel in 6mmGT in a MDT ACC chassis. Both have the XTR Pro 5-30X56 scope w/ SCR2 reticle and both have the Trigger Tech 2-stage trigger.

This wasn't today, but I wanted to wait for the calculator to run before I got too excited.
I put about a hundred rounds through the Kimber across a few short sessions before the match, but otherwise have not touched it since last year.
The plan was to round out my percentage to get it into proper M territory again.
With 3 solid stages plus 3 from last year, I exceeded that a bit:cool:

Not much in the way of pics from today's session.
Put 150-200 rounds through a 19.4 I recently picked up for short money to help someone out. I was going to flip it but decided I probably should have one in the safe if for no other reason than the only things left after TEOTWAWKI will be cockroaches and Glocks. I don't much care for Glocks in general but after applying things I've learned from P-F over the years I was able to shoot this one decently (for me). Decently enough that I might consider a 45 and 47 from my local pusher even though I have zero plans to carry one.

90 degrees today.
50 rounds of .22LR through my Single Six, mostly left-handed, hitting a steel plate, a silouhette, and some water jugs. 10 rounds of 147gr JHP through the G26. 5 rounds of 158gr SWCHP hand loads through the 442 in my pocket: loaded one round in the cylinder, and then drew from the RH pants pocket at arms distance from the silouhette to a head shot. Every live round actually fired = 4 dry as well.
Those full-power 158gr loads still aren’t that fun through an Airweight.

Does that 9mm 1911 say Palmetto State Armory?
Yes it does. At one time they were talking about getting into the 1911 game but apparently decided not to. I picked up a pair of the stripped frames for $99/ea in 2016. I picked up a Rock Island "builders kit" in .38 Super from an Ebay vendor at the same time as my first foray into "building" a 1911. The other frame went for a .45 build I put together as a wedding present to the youngest boy when he got married.

I checked a Carlsons Coyote choke in my 1187 Special Purpose with Hornady #4 buck coyote load at 50 yards, then another round at 30.

I also shot the Super Wrangler with both the long rifle and the magnum cylinders on some reactive targets. We also shot my 43C, Ruger 22/45 TacSol,and my 10/22 Backpacker. After about 40 rounds the rear sight fell out of the dovetail on the 10/22. I’d been planning on getting the takedown peep sight from Skinner.
We finished shooting my CORE/ACRO on an 8” steel at various ranges.

I took my Gen1 G17 to the range for the first time today. I shot it about like I shoot all my other double stack Glock 9mm. After a shot, the sights on this pistol return to a lower point of aim. I go years at a time without shooting a G17, so this may be the case with all G17s since I usually shoot G19s. In any case, I put 150 rounds through the pistol with no malfunctions but too many brass to the face to worry with counting. I'm glad I bought it, but it makes me appreciate the Gen 5 guns all that much more.

I went to the range with 2 guns: a VP9 and a newly bought Wilson Combat Beretta 92G Brigadier tactical. I have fired the VP9 extensively. I had never fired the Wilson Beretta Brigadier before. I am not a TDA kinda guy. The Beretta has amazing aesthetics and a very nice tactile feel. It is an amazingly nice gun from the Beretta factory and a bargain at the price that it sells for. I have hand problems and typically do not like textured guns or grips, but this felt great when holding it and when shooting it. In shooting guns side by side with the Beretta being fired single action, the VP9 shot tighter groups. I attribute that to the VP9s amazing trigger and the VP9 having better sights--higher profile with three dots. The Beretta has a a Trijicon front and U-notch rear. I fired the gun quite a bit D/A and D/A to S/A.
The other 2 guns on the left of the photo is a Glock in 10mm and a FN in 10mm. They belong to a friend who I run into at the range from time to time. I have not fired a 10mm in almost 30 years. The guns do not kick as hard as the blast would suggest. I liked the FN better. But these problem hands are not buying a 10mm.

My "match gun" has become a Langdon modified Centurion. The pistol is better than I'll ever be.
Bought a 92 compact from a fellow forum guy, which I have seriously considering as a carry choice.
Shot the Centurion last weekend, smooth and very repeatable. The RMR surely helps.

Yesterday I shot our local monthly handgun match. I normally shoot my 26 but yesterday decided I would try my 19. I felt like I did pretty good and felt I did better than when shooting with my 26. When I got the results of the match it appears I am about the same with one as the other. I hover around the halfway point in ranking. We normally have 20-24 shooters and I always end up around 10-12. My biggest focus isn’t the gun but accuracy because a miss here and there can ruin an otherwise decent score. I really need to run both guns in the same drill back to back to see which I actually shoot better and commit to that gun. Eventually I’ll go back to my 34 but I enjoy shooting a carry gun.

8th and final week of pin league. Tonight's theme was neon / disco. Green pin to start, orange stop pin. Did 2 runs with the P2000sk LEM, shot a 9.01 and a 9.06, happy with the consistency but had an extra shot on each run. Ruger MKII suppressed with Riton MPRDv2 was shot in 7.81. Glad to see a very small performance gap going from a subcompact iron, to rimfire dot within the lighting conditions.
Of note, with the Night Fision front and blacked out 10-8 rear on the P2000sk, I had to use reactive shooting vs predictive. The rear provided little feedback unless the pin was in the .125 w U-notch.
With the MKII, I had to aim at the right side of the pin to spin it off.
With the disco lights and neon, multiple dot shooters (and irons) struggled with aiming. The question was raised how some might do with flashing blue and red, as found during a traffic stop in a LEO context.
Looks like I'll take first out of about 20 shooters, regardless of class. Pleased with the league, and overall improvement of those in attendance.
Also shot a MPA open gun in 9mm major, and a Smith 43c.

I went to an outdoor range today to vet some magazines. The pistol range was closed for some NRA instruction at noon, which is when I normally shoot. The rifle range opened at noon so opted for that. I haven't been on the rifle range since last fall so way overdue. I had new mags for a Ruger Mini-14 and some mags for an M-1 carbine that I'm trying to sort out. The good news is the Ruger mags work flawlessly but the M-1 mags are suspect. These are USGI WW2 mags. I kept getting a failure to eject last round on several of those. I'm not sure if it's the mags or the bolt. I rebuilt the bolt with new parts about 2 years ago. The bolt catches the last case on return to battery. I think it's the bolt so will strip it again and use new parts. That's the reason I bought the Mini. It just shoots every time and 220 yd 18" plates ring every shot. Although the M-1 carbine is unreliable it impresses me with the fact it can do the same thing without a 4x scope, just irons. I think Audie Murphy knew that a 4 moa rifle works pretty well in combat if you know how to shoot it.

On Weds i took two 6.5 Creedmoor bolt guns (Bergara HMR Pro and B14 Ridge) out to the range. Had just gotten them back from my gunsmith who is excellent (Fritz Ahlquist at Black Canyon Customs (https://www.blackcanyoncustoms.com) - HIGHLY recommend). He did the following work:
1. Re-barreled my HMR Pro with a Preferred Barrel Blanks 24" prefit.
2. Took the factory HMR pro barrel, chopped to 20", recrowned/threaded, and installed on my B14 Ridge
3. Cerakoted the Ridge + chopped HMR barrel in Tungsten and skim bedded it in the HMR Pro stock that I had put the Ridge in
4. Reinstall YHM muzzle devices
Sort of wish I had him cerakote the HMR Pro action at least but meh. Whatever. Looks fine.
Beyond that vague regret, however, I am beyond satisfied. I had this work done because neither gun would group well consistently, and both heated up very quickly when shooting with a can. Wouldn't reliably do better than 1 MOA, usually 1.5-2.
Using the same ammo, I am getting sub MOA with both guns (see photos). So happy.
Was a beautiful day at the range, and was very happy with my shooting. Still far from an expert rifleman - these were my best groups of the day, to be clear. However it did prove that these guns can shoot better than me, which is what I've wanted all along.
The next thing I really need to do is get into reloading... but that will definitely have to wait for later.

Participated in the local bullseye match today. Scored 820 with the .22LR Ruger Mark II/Volquartsen complete 22/45 frame with a C-More 6 MOA dot. Shot a 780, IIRC, with the above 6" Clark Custom Colt longslide in .45 ACP using a 185 gr JHP over 5.2 grs of W231. I love the way this load and pistol combination shoots. Very soft shooting with a comforting smooth "ker-chunk" cycling.
After shooting the match I wanted to check for POI of the Dawson Precision BUIS' I installed on my G34.5/509T Holosun MOS 509T adapter plate. As the range got busy fast, I only fired a handful rounds and found that they went into the 8 ring or better of the slow fire 25 yard bullseye target at 25 yards.

I shot a local monthly USPSA match. Second target on the first stage is a pepper popper at ~15 yards, and I took something like eight or ten shots to knock it down. My raw time should've been about 10-12 seconds faster than it was. I have two identical Carry Optics G17s, so I went to the safety area and swapped guns. The rest of the match went fine. I'm going to rezero the first gun tomorrow afternoon and I hope the sight is off because I'm going to feel real bad about my shooting if it's not. :(

Saw the results - top 4 for As, bottom for times as usual. Other top 4, optics - but distances weren't far so stock Glock sights on that gun worked for me. See how the SRO works next weekend. Oh, how can I shoot a Glock with that grip angle? The mind boggles. Notes from the match - gun don't run, dude - check your handloads. Nothing else failed, the other day.

And my revolver shooting is so bad now, I think the 1980's is where I left my double action shooting skills....but nothing wrong with my pair of 19-3's, both retimed and tuned by Nelson Ford. Going through a few more lurkers in the back row of the safe...it was fun. I would have to spend A LOT of dryfire time to shoot these well again.

Dang, that's too many to try and get it to move in an afternoon's worth of shooting. GJM, do you ever have to periodically have to re-zero for reasons that aren't ammo or gun related changes?

I see subtle changes in POI from ammo, light conditions, and technique, but four inches is more than I would expect from those factors. Sounds like something is off, and if it is the optic, I would be highly suspicious of that individual optic or it's mount.

I see subtle changes in POI from ammo, light conditions, and technique, but four inches is more than I would expect from those factors. Sounds like something is off, and if it is the optic, I would be highly suspicious of that individual optic or it's mount.
Thanks!

Yesterday I worked on zeroing my old M&P15T with a new 1-8 Strike Eagle at 200. I shot several groups that had two almost touching and one away. All three shots however generally were grouping around 2 1/2”. This was with Hornady 55 grain steel case ball.
I’m going to try some other ammunition.

This is five rounds of 22 magnum Federal 50 grain from my Super Wrangler at 25 yards. I have some 40 grain CCI but didn’t have any with me.
I also shot the 8 rounds of Velocitor from my 43C and tried a cylinder of Stingers. The Velocitors group better and have a centered point of impact so I keep it loaded with those.

The drive that normally takes 25 minutes took 45 minutes because reasons, I guess. I was at the range for about a half-hour when it occurred to me that things were getting a little smokey. Back in the day, the range had been a gunshop; the owner monitored the range (in the basement) by CCTV and if you used it, you had to be checked out on running the ventilation system and the lights because he didn't feel like running up and down the stairs. So I checked the panel and yep, it was offline. I told the RO, he checked it out, tried to reset the breaker, and it had truly shit the bed. he closed the range.

They start going nuts, so the Mrs. goes to see what's up.
Then the shrill screaming starts, so I hobble from the front where I'm working, to the back to find the dogs cornered a copperhead.
Guess neither was bit, because they're still here, looking for food, and where the snake went.

Decided to do a comparison of my pocket pistols today. Turns out the LCRs (one .357 and one .38) with .38 loads kick harder than any of the 9mms. No big surprise. Wouldn't be much of an issue if not for the problem I've been having with my wrist over the past couple years. I supposed I don't really need them, there probably isn't a practical situation where the LCR has any advantage over the 365 to me, but only a communist doesn't keep a 5-shot .38 snubby in their sock drawer.
The G43 kicked a little bit more than the P365 and G26.3, the 365 and 26 were actually very close. I wish the P365 had just a little more distance from the back of the grip to the trigger for my medium-large hands but otherwise the 365 with the WC grip module is pretty sweet.
At the last second I decided to grab my M9-22 and 21a for funsies. They are the most fun handguns I own.

Last Sunday I shot my SIG 320 AXG PRO in a Hades Consulting 1 day pistol class at The Ranch in Dilley, TX.
Great class. Zack and Charlie have a well developed program of instruction but they also did a great job flexing to accommodate the weather (intermittent rain).
We shot the Hades Consulting diagnostic cold at the start of the class and again at the end of class.
We spent half the day working accuracy and fundamentals at 25 yards and half working speed, draws, and transitions at 7 yards. In both instances the class was about refining fundamentals.
Most of the class were skilled an experienced shooters including an MSP double black belt patch holder, the director of training for Stacatto (retired USMS SOG) and the CEO of Stacatto. All got something out of the class. (PS - Skilled shooters in the gun industry are not common, CEOs who are skilled shooters are rare. It was a pleasure shooting with him.)

I shot an IDPA match today, probably the first one in over a year -for sure first match since the new rulebook came out. I have to say, it was fun and the local stage designers have really stepped up their game with some good stages. I was also exposed to some of the new rule changes and I think they made the game better.
I shot Carry Optics so wasn’t able to take advantage of the 15 rnd capacity like the SSP guys. It surprised me the first few times when somebody kept shooting and didn’t do a reload when I thought they should have.
Biggest beneficial rule change IMO is you can now ditch a mag even though you aren’t at slide lock as long as the mag was empty. No more needing to fire an extra round at a target just to go to slide lock.
I like that they had these ‘surprise’ targets that you had to engage on the move.
Engagement priority makes sense, either “slice the pie” or if you’re standing in the open engage the targets from near to far.
All in all, a good time today and I’m glad I went.

It was acquired last year in a trade. I am still trying to get the details and have a book on the way with more information. My understanding, based on a gunsmith who knows more than I do and referenced his books, is that it is T style target rifle, built by the armory for the USMC rifle team.

I shot about 40 rounds of .38 Special reloads from a Model 28, four inch, and
two snubnoses, an M649 and an M38. The 28 is a former cop gun and has
Pachmayr rubber grips. A very serious-looking revolver.
Target was a plastic Folger's coffee can. Locale was a sandpit outside
town. (It's closer than the area ranges and I was in a bit of a hurry.)
Range was 20 yards at first, then I stretched it to about 40.
The can had one hole in it when I started. It has a whole lot more
now.
The 28 has always shot well and today I did OK with the snubs too.

What is that bottom firearm? Or is it even a firearm?
I guess technically that would be considered a destructive device. It is a single shot 40 mm less lethal launcher. It is made by Lewis machine and tool. The best way I can describe it is that it is a big single shot shotgun that uses a Smith and Wesson revolver action. We use it to shoot a variety of impact and chemical munitions. Our patrol guys only use foam impact rounds. Hurts like hell, but you can shoot it as close as 5 feet from someone and if you shoot them in the correct area it should not seriously injure them.

9mm major, It's a older STI top end on a limcat grip. I don't know much about it either:o The big magazine holds 28-29 rounds and the mid size ones were 22-23 rounds.

Realized I hadn't shot in almost a year (bows head in shame). Went to the local indoor range to assess the suck.
Was shooting the PX4CC at jlw 's excellent fps-1 and fps-2 targets. Didn't take pictures, but I'm not going to claim it was good. Wasn't horrible, but not great. I'm not going to lie: I still can't consistently hit a 2" circle at 5 yards. However, a 5.5" circle (the black on a B8) and a 4" circle, that I can do.
I can't draw from the holster at this range, but decided to do some actual measurement with a timer. I can come up from low-ready and pop the 5.5" circle in about 1.5 seconds consistently. I can also do a failure drill in 2.5 seconds from low-ready at 5 yards pretty consistently, too.
I was also working on using the rear sight "window" technique from TCinVA and using the "eyes as permission to shoot rather than the trigger reset" thing from jetfire.
My main limiting factor seems to be my eyes: I just can get the right sight picture quickly enough. If that's due to my eyes (astigmatism means I can only really do some sort of target focus, otherwise I see multiple front sights or targets, which really screws with me), or grip I'm not sure. I was also working on gripping the gun really hard (which as been a weakness for me in the past).
John Murphy - four years after taking your class, I can almost say the I have mastered the double-action shot (so that it doesn't master me).

Yes, the eyes.
Last summer was my time to admit to myself that I just couldn't get sight/target focus correct.
I went with a Trijicon RMR, which was an ah-ha moment.
It's changed my outlook on shooting, granted there was great consternation and research before I jumped in.
The ONLY set of sights I can sorta use is a Gold bead installed in my Beretta 92 compact, which is huge, and clearly visible, that I just sorta cover my intended target with and squeeze. Not even close to correct, but works at the range.

Glock 17 Gen 4 with stock irons. Pretty good on hits, some Cs and Ms that shouldn't have happened. On the first stage, didn't carefully align front and back on a distance set of targets. Got back into the groove later. Second on number of As, slow as a sloth. Shot one stage clean with 20 rounds. SO said that was 'boring'.
Any interesting, one guy shooting an 8 shot revolver with a dot had the dot go belly up and become a giant red field in the sight rather than a dot. He quit. Didn't want to shoot back up irons or just using the window, I suppose. Waste ammo?
Next match, dot sights. I'm alternating.

Then finishing with a full run of this classifier with 86 points, -2C out of 18 rounds (99%). The 5sec pars for each string and unforgiving HHF make this a great exercise in relaxed, precise shooting with no wasted time.

Tried out a Sig/Wilson Combat WCP 320 (full size) pistol that I recently picked up. It has an "action tune" and a GrayGuns trigger.
My first experience with a 320 pistol. I really like the WC grip module as well as the machining work they did on the slide. I am a fan of the WC sights, as well, and they were POA=POI with the load of choice. It is an easy pistol to shoot. The trigger is as good as any aftermarket or OEM trigger I have ever tried on striker-fired pistols from other manufacturers. It measures a consistent 2.5 lbs. on my Wheeler digital trigger pull gauge with minimal creep, a solid wall with a crisp break, and and "OK" reset.
Only tried one kind of ammo, as I was pressed for time. All shooting was done from standing off-hand position at 15 to 22 yards on an indoor range. Accuracy was good, at least with the 124 gr. FMJ ammo I tried today. Zero malfunctions, including WHO and SHO shooting. Next time, I intend to try several brands of ammo, including JHP's.
Two observations:
1. I have been shooting steel CZ's and 1911's almost exclusively for the past 3-4 years. Today's trip to the range reminded me how much I like carrying plastic pistols, but shooting steel pistols.
2. I need to look for options for installing an optic on this pistol. WC does it, but their end product has BUIS that are far too tall for my tastes. I saw a video on WC's website featuring Larry Vickers shooting an identical pistol, and his pistol had a "deep" slide cut that allowed use of regular height sights with an optic. Will have to get further details on that to see if that slide cut is an option if your last name isn't Vickers, Hackathorn, or Seeeklander. Or, I may just leave it as is and play with it.
Other than the extensive discussions about SIG P320 pistols firing when they are dropped or spontaneously disassembling while being shot, does anyone else have any comments about the current batch of these pistols, including options for optics?

150 rds. with my carry G19.5 (Holosun 509 green, Apex trigger and connector, LTT Grip Anchor, Vickers/Tango Down slide stop lever and mag release. And of course SCD--old school pre-LTT TAU Gadget). I have an identical training gun that will be my high-volume shooter, and about 1,600 rounds between the two.
Did some SHO and WHO work using Clusterfrack's "reverse gangster" technique, which I really like (thanks for that!). Distances were from 5 - 25 yds., with almost everything being from the compressed ready at speed. Was borderline shaky hungry and thought I was going to struggle, but ended up turning in what I thought was a pretty decent performance:
106207
I don't know what the percentage breakdown is, but between the dot, the Apex trigger, and the Grip Anchor, this setup has done wonders for my ability to shoot the Glock to a level of precision appropriate for a carry gun. Whatever it is, it has definitely carried over to the non-optic G26 I've been wringing out as well.

When I left my yoga class this morning I stepped off the distance from my usual spot to the doorway. I generally carry my 43C in an Enigma there. I fired multiple 3 round strings at 15 yards from standing and kneeling. I realized I was aiming too low at first.

I shot the traded in Police Magnum that I bought yesterday. A couple magazines of birdshot ran fine, then it seemed like the next round would not fully exit the mag tube and get on the carrier. The headshot is Hornady TAP from six yards, the body shot from 15 yards. I’m first going to try another magazine spring and see what happens.

I shot a local USPSA match that featured some fun and technically challenging stages from CO Nationals. Our local CO hotshot is at Nationals, and I was hoping to bring home a match win. Those hopes were dashed by a very time-consuming FTE/doublefeed malfunction on the highest round stage, but I still took close 2nd against strong competition.
I was struck by the great vibe our local USPSA matches have. Virtually everyone seems happy, welcoming, friendly, and helpful. No annoying egos or douchbaggery.

USPSA with Glock 17 Gen 5 with SRO. We thought it would rain but instead it was bright and sunny. Warm for here. Nothing really unusual. One guy's AR in 9mm was cranky. Some high round stages had angles so that you had to move back and forth, leading to memory lapses - did I really shoot that one. A few failures to engage from folks (not me this time, a couple of months ago, we won't talk). Average performance, nothing to get excited or bitch about.
Quite a few local police shoot, same guys though.

I didn’t distinguish my self in term of scoring but had a good time with my semi-auto playing amongst bolt action Anshutz, Bergara and assorted custom bolt guns.
I was shooting Eley Semi-Auto Benchrest Precision ammo and an Arken 6-24X50mm scope, Faxon receiver, Kidd trigger and barrel.

STI limited gun build, in .40. Same as last week, same next week. (Insert yawn emoji here).
Shot a local match today with 03RN.
BUG gun match, where you then transition to your match gun.
Shot the Taurus 856 three inch as my bug. The Galloway kit ran fine.
Found out that trying to load wadcutters, from a loader, to unchamfered cylinder mouths doesn't work so much.
Gun ran great, me, not so much.
Used my usual Beretta 92x centurion, modded by LTT, as the other gun.
It ran flawless, and I even did well with it.
If Beretta would build a smaller "compact" 92, I think that it it would sell.
The 92 compact doesn't qualify as a BUG..
We both had trouble that first stage. I used my 2" m10 and a round jumped right out after I dropped the speed loader. -5 right off the bat.
Then I had a marked bad mag find it's way into my range bag and tie up my gun in another stage.
Then on the last stage I missed steel on the first part so had to dump my gun then go get them.

It was a double header rimfire weekend for me. Shot a PRS .22 match on Saturday and a NRL22 match on Sunday. Managed to eke out wins on both days! The wind gods were kind to me.
I was shooting a V-22 Vudoo w/ 22” Bartlein barrel in an XLR Envy Pro chassis and a Burris XTR Pro scope.
At the end of the session I did a benchmark drill I haven’t done in a few years.

I zeroed my 1987 vintage GP100 for an upcoming class. I also shot my M&P CORE/ACRO.
Tested recoil timing on my home brew cutoff rifle compensator on a handgun IDPA CO setup....
https://youtu.be/wdjP690reeY
Pretty good, I feel like I could go down on the recoil spring by a 1/2 or 1/4 coil. Just a whiff of terminal oscillation in slow mo.
While at the range a couple guys that I hadn't met before tapped me on the shoulder and told me they were setting up a stage on the next bay if I wanted to run it with them...
Long story short, I spent some time with them and had a nice afternoon. They were former bullseye shooters just starting IDPA so at their request I did a little teaching and they were super appreciative.
I told them I thought it was fantastic that they were branching out and exploring other shooting sports.
I might ask them for bullseye help in the future as it's one of my weaker disciplines.
Good times.

Yesterday I shot three rounds from a Marlin 336 in .35 Remington.
In a sand pit where distance wasn't really available. Shot from about
30 yards. Hit the target twice and threw one out to the right. I
shot from offhand and had some trouble with the open iron sights.
(I usually have scopes or peep sights on my rifles.)
I had made the reloads with H4895 powder and 180 grain soft point bullets.
Wanted to check how they'd work in the Marlin. Worked OK.

Another 40-50 through the Fusion Gold 9mm 1911. 124gr S&B mostly bounces off my right arm between the bicep and mid-forearm. 124gr AE comes straight back and bounces off my forehead, my nose or my chest. So it looks like I need to see if there's any tension on the extractor. OTOH it fed and fired just fine so I've got that going for me... The targets make me look pretty decent at 10 yards so I'm not unhappy with it. It's just difficult to stay focused when I don't know if the next empty is going to bounce off my arm or my face....;)
20-148gr Precision One wadcutters and 20-148gr Fiocchi wadcutters through the K6S Target. It shows promise but I simply can't get comfortable with the factory wood or LOK grips I bought for it. I want to keep it and want to enjoy shooting it so I'll keep at it but it may end up on consignment if I can't come to a happy compromise on the grips. I suppose I need to find some Goodyears to try. Hogue maybe?
Finished up with 25 rounds through a rental G21.4. 5 rounds were enough to tell me it's just too damn big for my hands but I shot another 20 trying to find a grip that worked. I never did so I'll be crossing that particular "want" off my list.
This afternoon I completed the three day Rangemaster Master Instructor Development class. I mostly shot my M&P9 CORE/ACRO, and used my old GP100 for the revolver portion.

Fridays around here usually quiet. I worked a bit with a local restaurant manager-a lady- who has taken to shooting on a somewhat regular basis. She got a Glock 17 from the owner, and had a gratifying account to share. She unlocks and sets up the restaurant a few days a week-0530 or so. A few days back she had two “dudes” (my term) come in before opening. They stopped at the front door by the register and asked if they could get coffee. She was at a back counter; they began to approach ~10 yards or so, and she drew to what we used to call “ guard”. They quickly decided to fade into the predawn darkness. I say, good for her!
Shot a G45 with a C&H DUTY sight on a couple of drills: 1.77 second “Cold Heat”(concealment draw to a B8@5yards). 94 points on a 5 yard roundup. Finished with my personal G26 on a “Trigger Prep” run. There is a little silhouette that is about the size of a 3” Post It note. Used that @ 5 yards: 10/10.
I hope everyone has a quiet and cool weekend…

This afternoon I shot my carry M&P9 2.0C, having forgotten to get the practice one out of the safe. Last weekend I shot my CORE/ACRO and I wanted to shoot my iron sight gun. I shot a poor Rangemaster Baseline Assessment. I then shot the current Rangemaster drill of the month (I’m glad I took the ACRO gun to class). I shot Justin Dyal’s Prep Time drill and then another run at the Baseline drill.
Zeroed the Holosun 507 Comp on the Walther PDP. A significant improvement over the Ameriglo Haven which came on the gun.
107878
The PDP is also a bit over sprung out of the box (18lb recoil spring). I tried the ZRTS guide rod with a 13lb recoil spring. The gun tracked and returned much better and functioned fine with standard velocity 124 grain FMJ (PPU and Geco). However, with hotter +p and equivalent ammo such as +P gold dot I had a few failures to return to battery which may have been slide bounce. The gun extracted ejected, and picked up a fresh round, but I would get a failure to fire where the slide was slightly out of battery. If I simply push the slide forward instead of racking the slide and chamber in the new round the gun, we’re going to battery, but I would get a dead striker.
I’m going to swap the 13 pound spring for a 15 pound spring and see if that takes care of the issue.
Also shot my 9mm Commander (converted from .38 super) which just came back from the gunsmith. Had the extractor re-tensioned, the plunger tube re-staked and some other minor tuning. It shot really well with everything (including Glod Dot) except our Winchester flat point practice ammo from work. It did not like the flat point ammo out of Wilson or Tripp Cobra magazines.

First 250 rds. with a new G19.5 blue label. Ameriglo 3 dot night sights with .125 orange ring front and .165 rear. Apex trigger/connector, LTT grip anchor, Tango Down slide stop lever and mag release. Identical to my carry G19 minus the 509T and SCD, going to be my work backpack and travel gun.
First 3 rounds gave me enough of a warm and fuzzy enough to stop and take a pic:

I’ve been running Glocks exclusively this summer, both RDS and iron sights, and the combo of grip anchor and Apex trigger has really unlocked the weapon’s potential for me. I used to shoot P-series SIGs probably 20% better than the Glocks, but my current setup has pretty much eliminated the gap.

Sweaty session with a Shadow2 CO gun. Working on explosive burst movement into a stable stance and precise index. I worked 3 steps and 1 big crossover. HF 8.8 to 9 for good runs.
Edit: I also had one of the most ‘time warp’ examples ever. After really pushing, I did a run focusing on relaxation and intense vision. It felt slow, and I would have bet $100 that it was 0.5s slower. It was 0.6s faster (out of 5.x s). All alphas.
Take homes for me:
1) I can't accurately estimate time while shooting
2) relaxation feels slow, but is faster
3) a hyper-focus on vision increases accuracy and speed, and also 'slows time'.

I shot Long Gong. It's a new sport that is shot with 22LR rifles at 300 yards. There is a 8", a 6" and a 4" steel plate at 300 yards. Shot from a bench with bipod and rear bag. Shoot at the 8" plate. A hit is 1 point and the chance to shoot the 6" for 2 points or keep shooting the 8". Hitting the 6" allows you to move to the 4" for 3 points. A miss requires you to move back to the previous size plate. 10 shots a string and you shoot 5 strings. Needless to say, you need to be able to read the wind. A fun day. I'm still not ready for a rocking chair, but shooting from the bench is better. :)

My P6 did that too. It appears that SIGs are really easy to bump the slide stop with one's thumb. Moving my right thumb outward a smidge cured it for me.
Does it do that just when shooting, or when you pull the slide back on an empty mag too? If it doesn't lock back when you pull the slide back on an empty mag, you probably need new mag springs. Wolff offers them, their SKU 79813 will get you a pack of three for $17.49.

That was the biggest issue for me with classic Sig P2## pistols. I trimmed the slide stop on my P229 to prevent this. Being a long time 1911 shooter, I wasn’t able to fix the issue alla software.

I shot my personal GEN5 19 w/ ACRO today, after a week of being on the road. Very minimal dry practice and it showed a bit. Claude Werner had posted a playing cards target with two strings. First, 5 shots in 5 seconds on one card from the ready. Then a walk back: single shots starting at 3 yards, one step back after each successful shot. 5 shot success in 3.88 seconds. Just for practice, I turned the dot off for the walk back and got to ten yards before sending one high. Turned the dot back on and got two more to 12 yards, then stopped for ammo preservation. I’ll definitely do this again.
Wayne Dobbs inspired me to go for 100% clean on “Double - add1”, but it was not to be today. Two runs: first, shanked one bad at 10 yards-call it a 94-dang it! Second run shot some 8s at distance-too fast- for a 94(again!)
Finished up the box with another Dyal drill, the 5 yard Roundup. I overlaid a “fierce face”(thanks John Hearne) on a B8 repair, “bridge of nose” on the “X”. One of 3 shooting hand only went to a temple, and the score was @97.
So all this teaches me to don’t slight dry practice.

Another dumb question- do 239's have their own special sight slots, or can they use other 2XX sights?
I don't want to go optics on this one, and would like to put a set of XS Big Dots on it.
The P239's use standard Sig sights for Sig dovetails, I have Trijicon HD's on mine which were intended for the 9mm P228/P226, and my .40 is close enough to POA/POI with that one.
No idea if it is different for a 9mm P239.

Verified that Berger 85.5 hybrids are better, more consistent bullets than Hornady 88 ELDMs. Hornady for practice, Berger for the match.

I would agree. Hornady makes a decent bullet but Nosler, Berger, and Sierra bullets have always shot better for me.

Went out to the sheriff’s range this morning and shot two of my P07s.
Impact Machine had put the Holosun 507K on the OD green one a couple of weeks ago, and Scott Milam there put the Holosun EPScarry on the black one yesterday.
Mostly shot 275 rounds on the steel plate racks with the EPS…..very satisfying to say the least.
I’ve carried striker pistols AIWB for years, and feel more relaxed and comfortable as I reholster with my thumb on the hammer.

The boys have been begging for a range trip for weeks so after a successful first few days back to schooltoday was the day.
Got there early trying to beat the heat but not much luck there.
They put some time on the Noveske barreled SBR before heading to a pistol bay with the Glock 19 and 17. Wrapped up with their first time shooting the new to me large frame .45lc Vaquero. They love a western movie and history and had fun shooting it.
Boys are 14 and 10.

Just got back from a range trip. Warmed up with 50 rounds of .380 through a rental P365-380. I liked it and it shot well enough but it's small and squirrely in stock form. It doesn't look like it comes in an XL, maybe a Wilson module would help?
After that I spent some time getting acquainted with a new to me P-07. Had one a couple of years ago and enjoyed it but I traded it towards an 1911 when I was upgrading my 1911 accumulation. This one popped up on consignment at my preferred pusher's place so I picked it up. I need to install the next smaller size back strap because it's a hair too big for how I need to grip.

Spent some time working on my DA with the 96G Elite II. I've converted it to 9mm and DAO. Much smoother than the CZ but it's got a lot more trigger presses on it as well. It's making me think about sending the P-07 to Cajun.

Shot a few rounds out of the 9mm Fusion but it's still throwing brass straight back o I guess I'll try and make time to call Fusion next week and see if they will look at it. Put 5 rounds of Fiocchi .38 wadcutter through the K6 Target trying the Bantam grips. I do not like them so I'll put the LOKs back on and try hockey tape and pluckable foam to get a grip I like. If that doesn't work I'm not sure what my next step will be.

I won't ever go back. I made my way back to the lem for safety reasons and I feel much more comfortable with a hammer and long first pull.

Shot the P239 again, and dang- it shoots too good.
I also took the now RDS'd 92D Centurion and shot it a bit better this time.

After having some decent early success with the 69 3GH from RMR, things started to fall apart for some reason during load development.
The left group was with some random ammo for sighting, group 2 was 5 shots with the RMR, and the right group was the same load but with the addition of the Lee FCD in the process, 3 shots. Hopefully I can duplicate this at my next range visit.

Wednesday was our firearms training block. We've been shooting the Bakersfield qual for cold assessment. I always go first and a 97 on the correct target (6" circle, 13"x9" oval). For cold, step-up and show us, that's pretty good.

Yesterday afternoon, 4" Model 28-2 and a 3" 2020 Python.
Down the road, the Python's getting a trigger job from somebody. the DA trigger is OK, but the SA trigger is like trying to pull a tractor.

Shot HK USP 45 LEM, clone to my carry pistol. Shot the qual DB developed , from the LAPD swat qual, for one of the TX departments.
Shot Wiley Clapp GP 100 .357, Colt King Cobra 2” .357. Used old .357 125gr, SJHP, Lost River, wad cutter reg and +p.
Like the WC, Regular is nice in the 2” KC.
STRANGELY lots of bullet pulls, 1/6 with the old Remington 125 gr SJHP , if I had more than 20 left, I would run them through the crimp die.
In KC, WC GP100, also in new 3” Pythons.

It’s not off the table, I just need to decide if I’m more interested in convenience or saving money.

For me, it was learning how to do something rather than convenience or saving money!
I don't have a P07, but I've done a bunch of CZ 75Bs with trigger, sear, hammer etc and it's pretty straightforward once you get the lay of the land.
I'm sure a number of us would be happy to help you out if stuck.
I can do a full conversion in about 20 min (a little longer if the disco needs more fitting).
I'm planning on doing another three guns next week since I have some days off work.
Took a buddy out shooting. Helped him set up and zero his optic. Trusty Wheeler laser first got us within 8 MOA.
He had picked up an AR for home defense but never shot it indoors, so I brought out some of my long guns with suppressors to show him the difference it can make indoors.
There's a lot of sketchy information on the web and YouTube, it was nice for him to get a firsthand experience on what feels like what.

I’m not worried about digging into it, I converted my first 07 from safety to decocker with minimal fuss. I’m simply strapped for free time and my workbench in the garage currently feels like it’s adjacent to the Sun.🤣

Spent another hour or so at the range yesterday with the 07 and EII 96G that identifies as a 92D. 71 rounds between them working on that DA first shot. I didn’t really run the 5x5 drill but I used that target run out anywhere between 7 and 10 yards. The targets were generally good but not terrific at anything other than slow fire. Lots more work and practice to do.
I rednecked up the K6 Target with pluckable foam and hockey tape on the LOK grips. Much better! I still need to dial it in a little more but I’m happier with it than I have been for a while.
Rented a 365 X-Macro since they didn’t have an XL. I’ll probably end up replacing my Shield with an XL but the XM didn’t do anything for me.

Monday I ran some in-service training for some court staff. I shot the M&P9 2.0C I carry when working.
One of the guys was having a lot of grip issues due to excessive sweating. I’ve heard of a liquid chalk product that helps, anyone have any experience?

Try Liquid Grip (https://www.amazon.com/Liquid-Grip-LG-8-8-Ounce-Bottle/dp/B003L7N0EC/) or similar product. You can add rubbing alcohol as a thinner to make the bottle last longer.
Have been a little on injured reserve so thought I would check my recoil control with my LO gun.
Turns out that replacing the worn grips and changing to a fresher front and backstrap gun helps control recoil lol.

It’s one thing for competition / competition training, but is a temporary grip aid appropriate for defense training? I’m not trying to criticize, just thinking out loud.

Here we go again with classic P-F thread drift. :)
IMHO, it depends on the context. For the court security folks who work in an air-conditioned courtroom, sweaty hands wouldn't be much of an issue, and having a solid grip on the gun would help imprint the lessons trained. For folks who usually work outside in all kinds of weather, it'd behoove them to learn how to deal with shooting with a less-than-perfect grip.
And this is worth exactly what you paid for it.

For training, I’d say safety trumps other concerns. If someone can’t hold their gun, chalk is a good short term solution. But, they need to solve it long term with a grip decal or stippling.
But also, a defensive encounter (hopefully) won’t last long enough for hands to get really sweaty.
I’ve trained with blueguns and blood stimulant… not easy.

As a philosophical thing, so far I have avoided using liquid grip enhancers for competition and opted for more aggressive grip textures instead. I may change my mind down the road, but for now I feel it’s okay as long as my grips are grippy enough.

It also begs the question of… maybe we should consider more aggressive self defense grip textures over clothing wear and the like?
As an aside, I REALLY like the Springfield grip texture of the Prodigy. It’s one of my favorites. It’s not abrasive but when you squeeze it grips.
