Our loyal and loving 12 yo black lab passed away from a new onset, rapidly progressing GI tumor this morning at 0330. During her time with us, she twice successfully defended our children from unprovoked attacks by larger aggressive feral dogs and was an integral part of our family's life. She will be missed. Once again F-cancer in all forms....

Doc, my sincere condolences. When we lost our Weim due to cancer, (in the avatar at left), I never thought I'd recover from the loss.

The pain of their loss seems to be the price we pay for their companionship.

Damn Doc. I just had the kid's dog put down, and my working dog had a potentially career ending injury just two weeks later. I feel for ya. And to once again remember Todd G, F-CANCER.

Losing a dog is so hard — my wife and I are already worrying about our Astro, even though she just turned nine. I sure wished dogs lived as long as people.

Dogs are like an unlimited line of joyful credit whose payment comes due all at one time.

I don't know who first wrote that, and I've never been able to find it, but I think it fitting whenever one of our fur-children passes.

I’m always sorry to hear about the loss of a furry loved one. My deepest condolences.

I’ve had to hold a paw three times in my life as crossed the rainbow bridge. I was a basket case each time.

Doc- I’m so sorry to hear about your loss. Sounds like she loved her people dearly, and was loved in return. Even after a full life, the loss of such a dog is heartbreaking. I understand, and feel for you and your family.

I'm so sorry for your family's loss. In my experience these are getting harder, not easier with repetition. It's tough.

Few things in this life are as difficult and painful as saying goodbye to a beloved dog.
You and your family have my deepest and most sincere condolences...

It sounds like your labbie pup was very lucky to be a part of your family and lived a wonderful, happy life with you all.

What did we, as humans, ever do to deserve such dedicated love and loyalty, from such beautiful and fun creatures as dogs?

My sincere condolences.

We've been waiting since September's diagnosis of hemangiosarcoma on our 12yo dog. Every day is a blessing.

I am so sorry to hear of your loss. Our time with canine family members is way too short, but I have no doubt you gave her a great life.

I'm so sorry for your loss. The love for a family dog is about as pure and beautiful as it comes. I have no doubt she will be missed.

Sad news indeed. The loss of a dog makes for a very tough day. Condolences from Mrs. Dog Guy and me.

Very sorry to hear it. Its hard losing them, they truly are part of the family.

About 2/3 of the dogs ive had over the years have been lost to cancer.

I know its always hard, but my way of dealing is to go get another dog. Mine have been mostly pound and rescue dogs, and I know theres lots of good dogs needing good people. Thats about the only surefire way I know of making the world a better place, adopting a dog.

I understand the loss. Our beloved Ruby passed on a year ago, and I think of her daily. She was a rescue pup and showed her gratitude.

My most sincere condolences. This is one of the toughest things we do.

My thirteen year old GSD (see avatar) will be making that trip all too soon.

It's been 6 years since I lost a Malamute to cancer and I'm not ready to go through that again with one of my dogs any time soon.

Dogs are the best. My sincere condolences to you and your family.

Doctor, my thoughts are with you and your family during this time of sorrow. I am certain that the love she shared with your family will be a source of fond memories in the future.

What have we wretched humans ever done, to deserve the pure love of a Lab?

Uncle Pat is giving her ear scritches now. Well-deserved ones, to be sure.

You love them and then they rip your heart out.

I wouldn’t wish it on anyone. Then again, that would mean missing out on the best part of such companions.

I have experienced this in the not distant past and will be experiencing the same in the near future.

Fuck Cancer.

RIP Sweet Bulldog (rescue)

I’m making the most of my short remaining time with my 9.5YO Presa Canario, 7x24 Klingon and faithful defender from all threats real and imagined.

So sorry to hear doc.

Got my little guy curled up next to me right now. His companionship has helped pull me through even the darkest of days. How lucky we are to have such wonderful canine friends.

I've always said someone has to create a breed of canine that will live a minimum of 50 years. Think they'd be popular? RE: Todd G., I'm still wearing the original, was black new, is solid orange now - "Rampage for the Cure" bracelet. I haven't taken it off for years. I'm wondering just how long it will last. Todd, we sorely miss you! F*** Cancer X infinity.
