View Full Version : Catch me up, what's new?

So I kinda quit gun stuff a few months back due to trying to restart a life in a new place. Now I'm back in the game professionally and otherwise and have no idea what everyone is talking about. This SIG 365 thing that I originally thought was a joke is apparently a Big Deal and S&W is offering a new gun that's completely identical to a previous gun except has a .4" shorter of a barrel so I'd like someone to mansplain that one to me. Did those special edition Langdon Berettas ever happen? Did anyone rage quit the forum? Fill me in on all the hot goss!

LTT M9 is a thing. So is a PX4CC. You might be able to get a new one, someone just sold a used one in the for sale pages. TJIAB is a bunch of Langdon trigger parts in a bag for a 92 or a PD4.

Don’t remember any rage quitting. P365 apparently has some issues. But isn’t reported as going off when it isn’t supposed to, like P320 apparently did.

How did the move go?

Don’t forget the 92 Elite LTT - it’s “a thing” now, too.

I was looking around for one of the Langdon M9s and couldn't find any distributors that listed them, so wasn't sure if they're a limited run and all sold out or if they hadn't been released yet.

Duelist, move went... slow, but finally done now, thanks for asking. Love Arizona so far!

Surprised to see the 19X so popular, given it's like the opposite of the 19L/17K that people have been clamoring for. Also is Glock BTF still a thing with the Gen5s?

Valid, I still don't quite get it though. What about the 19X makes it superior to either a 17 or a 19? Sorry, I'm sure this has been covered to death here but like I said I've been out of the game for awhile

Seems backwards to me. A G19 frame with a G17 or G34 slide seems much more interesting - Concealable and better sight radius. G19 has plenty of grip and I have big hands.

What's new - I tried to cut my hand off today.

I slipped and knocked over a display rack of knives, including a very large Bark River Barong. which took a single rotation and struck the top of my forearm in a glancing blow. Thankfully, I avoided nerve/tendon damage and it only took four stitches to close the cut. But thinking about it, a 6" fall from a 2.2 pound knife was enough to require stitches. I'm now aware of just how dangerous that knife could be if swung in anger...

Looking at the market, a standard grip, short slide pistols are popular. Short grip, long slide handguns are not. They never have been. Even back in the 70s, there have been advocates for short grip, long slide pistols because a short grip is easier to conceal and the longer slide gives the shooter an advantage in velocity and sight radius. But the idea never caught on. The truth is, a standard grip, short slide pistol balances better and is easier to control. Just between you and me, I'd rather try sitting while wearing a standard grip, short slide pistol than any long slide pistol, short grip or not. There is a reason why short barreled pistols are popular for carry.

In other news, there is an interesting conversation going on about parallax and the single red dot sight in the Rifles and Carbines subforum.

Hell I bought it because it's silly, it's a "want" gun not a "need" gun for me. Thinking about it now, re: normal frame/longer slide vs short slide, I prefer a P229 vs P226 for the reasons you said above, but my 92 centurion doesn't offer me anything over a standard 92. And now I'm thinking I should get my 17L slide cut out, damn

- 19X is popular.
- 320 has fans and haters. Sig played off a drop fire issue with "upgrade".
- New aimpoint red dot may or may not be promising.
- 1301 Aridus ( SpyderMan2k4 )forends have shipped. People are excited.
- LangdonTactical released the Langdon M9. It's an exclusive from Bud's thats basically an upgraded M9. It shipped to customers awhile back. Seems to be made in batches.
- Elite LTT is the M9A1/Vertec hybrid everyone has wanted for years. PreOrders (exclusive to LTT website) should ship in July. Can add on Langdon trigger work.
Both Langdon 92s get confused for each other. M92A1 is still a description people use, even though it is really unclear what they mean.
- Brownells released a retro series of ARs that service clone lovers are mostly happy about. They seem to mimic early/vietnam era rifles in 5.56 and 7.62.
- Gun grabbers are making as much sense as usual, and gaining small foot holds in a few states with age restricting legislation.
- A number of banks and credit companies now refuse gun business.
- Youtube is enforcing new gun rules. Removing alot of content and banning folks. Many are seeking an alternative but few able ones exist. Logistic issues, cost, and getting all gun content creators on the same page is a strugggle. Plus this creates an echo chamber. Much discussion was had.
- USPSA threw egg on its own face, because the President wantes to flex power against the best competitor.
- Mack now has Graith as a company for aoft goods. The Specialist belt is the new hotness. They work well for a number of folks.
- SouthNarc wants men to dress better. A major benefit of pants that fit the waist better is improved concealment. A video on facebook shows this really well.
- Night Cobra found a fan in DB.
- Streamlight HLX weapon mount is the greatest. Then it had issues that are possibly resolved.
-Gorilla Wrapz is making dryfire targets that are able to be easily moved around walls.
- Advances is bullet technology have made field pistols in duty calibers a more viable option. Large bore revolvers are awesome, but lehigh (sp?) bullets are making options for defending from large predatory animals that have inspring performance in 10mm, 45Super, 45ACP, 40SW and even 9mm.

I'm sure I left stuff out, but thats the major things that have stuck with me over the last little while.

Haven't finished the thread so someone has probably mentioned this... after shooting the 19x again yesterday and today, 500rnds total, it is, by far, the most well balanced shooting pistol I think I've ever fired. Superior? In balance yes. For a duty weapon, I'd say absofuckinlutely hell yes. It just kinda naturally goes to and hangs there on target, then naturally falls back on target after recoil. Balance is the key of wonderment for me. Perhaps a 19.5 with a 17 mag would come close. I'm not crazy about the color.

ReverendMeat
06-23-2018, 08:57 PM
Do the same arguments in favor of the 19X apply to the 320 Carry?

ETA: Also I've never quite understood the "balance" thing given the balance changes as you shoot, different with empty mag vs full mag, right?

No, but being queer or of a "new gender" is not incompatible with being interested in firearms for personal protection.

I'm not sure what being gay and being a new gender have to do with each other. In addition I assume people of other groups are at least as strong as me and can handle jokes. Oh and claiming there are more than two genders/sexes is like saying the earth is flat.
