I feel that the platform has finally matured, so I went ahead and invested. Again. No more sketchy light mounts. No more not seeing your irons through the optic. No more funky cheek welds. 12.5" LOP and the dot in the optic is in the middle to upper 1/3 automatically with t he stock set to mid.

I fired the first rounds through it, being Remington STS 1145fps 1-1/8oz 2.75 dram. It functioned flawlessly. I followed up dumping 5 rounds of Winchester bulk #8 shot through it. Again flawless. A few more rounds of Remington STS, and it failed to hold open on the last shot but cycled dutifully. Ran all Federal LR LE buckshot they make (8,9 pellet 00, and #1).

Accuracy and patterning are as expected. The entire package is very cohesive and it's an absolute beast of a room broom that with slugs will reach out to 100 no problem!

14" Benelli M4 SBS w/ C-STOCK from factory
TTI black safety
M4 metal trigger guard assy.
Tango Arms forend
IWC with Surefire M300 500 lumen
4MOA H2 in a Scalarworks SYNC
LPA circle-only rear ring (no "ears")

Works great with the C-stock set in mid with the optic, fully extended with irons.

Total weight wasn't bad, either, at 8#, 1.9oz. I used the cup to apply the weight to the scale evenly, otherwise it gives odd readings.

I'm a fan.
I prefer the Mesa Urbino stock and a XS Big Dot front sight on mine.

How many M4's have you been through to get to this one?

I have a 14 inch M4 set up with the T2, and it has been reliable. It feels clubby, though, compared to my pair of M2 14 inch shotguns, so the M4 almost always gets left home when I am out tramping around.

I get and appreciate that. I just like the m4 for its "feed and run everything" attitude as well as the fact that it is more likely to run from awkward positions where no shoulder is behind it. I can run it from my hip held loosely using LE low recoil shells, for example. You also cant shut them down using push pull aggressively.

I remember reading your posts about M4 upgrades, I just didn't realize there were so many different guns. I am jealous. :)

This SBS my by far my favorite, and not just saying that because that's what I've got now. Also, I have seen the refinements benelli made over the years. They keep making it a better gun, except the polymer trigger guard I'm not huge on. I replaced it with one of the last metal ones out there.

I am often tempted to get an M4, but like GJM I think the M2 is lighter and handier, as well as the 1301T.
