Hey ya'll.

Is anyone here familiar with the knife laws in Hawaii, specifically Oahu? I am seeing conflicting or possibly outdated info online. Is carrying one kosher, are there restrictions on style or length, and do they need to be hidden or is typical pocket carry with a clip accepted (and is it normal for locals to have one clipped in their pocket like it is in the Conus? I typically use a yojimbo 2 as my edc, plus a SAK. Sometimes add a kabar tdi if im feeling frisky. I dont want to stick out, so other than whats legal, I would like to know what is normal.

Thanks fellas!

If it matters, were going back in July.

In '07 I did fine with my Benchmade Mini-Griptillian for a couple of weeks. Spend time on MCBH, Pearl Harbor, Waikiki, North Shore and Honolulu downtown. Never got hassled for the knife. But the boots & jeans didn't fit in...

Just stay away from "daggers" and double edged stuff. I'm on Oahu and I go to the Police Station all the time with a folder (3.75" blade) clipped to my jeans and a fixed blade IWB. No one has ever hassled me about knife carry. Keep it under your shirt, or clipped to your jeans. You'll be fine

Boots are OK too ;)

I believe the law actually restricts you to less than 4” for carry, but that’s going off of memory from about four years ago when I first moved out here. I do remember
daggers being an issue, as theJanitor said. Personally I carry a Spartan Blades Enyo.

Thanks, I will stick with my normal knives, then. Maybe have an excuse to add a spyderco salt :-)

I’m headed there at the end of this month. Sounds like a good application for the Wave Delica.

Just stay away from the Hilo side of Big Island for now... it's getting a little frisky there.

Pretty much the perfect travel knife.

Pretty much the perfect travel knife.

That is what I have been carrying almost exclusively lately. Fast, dependable wave opening, no legal issues in the US except in a few localities, and fits in my hand more securely than the longer Endura.

What about a kabar tdi, the small one?

i don't see a problem with the kabar. Just keep it concealed. a huge portion of us carry a folder and/or a fixed blade. Don't bring anything double edged, or something that looks like a prison shank, and it'll be fine
