RIP Officer Stephen Green.

Maybe you clued me in TC, but as soon as I saw him come out and I saw that big pendant, I said to myself, "Why the hell would any convict be allowed to wear jewelry? I probably couldn't get on a plane with that thing." Sad story and a cautionary tale as to how all jewelry will be removed in the future-too little too late for Officer Green.

The sallyport of a jail can be a very dangerous place. The moment when custody of the prisoner is transferred from the arresting/transporting officer to the jail staff is critical. Sometimes the police officer can let his guard down because he feels the correctional officers have taken over, and at the same time the C.O.s let their guard down because they feel they haven't taken over yet. I don't know if this played a part in what happened, but, in any case, awareness is key whenever you're around ******** like this, regardless of what your role is in the situation.

May he rest in peace.

Rest in peace.

The author of that article should be tarred and feathered for crimes against the English language.

RIP Officer Green. I am disappointed that the rounds that hit our perp didn't skip across his spine and leave him having his prison boyfriend change his colostomy bags for him for the rest of his life. Death was too good for him.

Thanks for posting this, as tragic as it is. Hopefully Officer Green's family will find comfort in his passing and the way he lived his life. RIP

My FTOs always told me arriving at the jail is the most dangerous time. The suspect is at his most desperate and you're relaxing because you're there.

Mobile is about 35 miles from my front door. Worked with their dope unit back in the day.
