Week 260: F-PAR Low% Draw

Results may be posted until April 16th, 2018.

Designed by: Todd Louis Green
Range: 7 yards
Target: 3x5 card
Start Position: Holstered
Rounds Fired: 20

You will need a shot timer for this drill and you will need to know how to operate the PAR function.

This is another Floating PAR.

Begin with a PAR time that you can confidently hit the target from the holster. Draw and fire one round at the target. If you score a hit, reduce the PAR time by 0.1 seconds. If you are not successful, increase the PAR by 0.1 seconds. Do not make incremental changes greater than 0.1 seconds even if your times are much farther from the PAR.

Draw and fire again with the new PAR. Repeat the process (subtracting 0.1 seconds for each hit or adding 0.1 seconds for each miss) until you've fired a total of 20 rounds.

If you cannot draw from a holster, you may participate by shooting the drill from the ready position instead.

Please report the following when you post your results in this thread:

Start position (open holster, concealed, retention holster)
Starting PAR
Lowest PAR with a hit
Final PAR (20th draw)
Anything you noticed

Training with firearms is an inherently dangerous activity. Be sure to follow all safety protocols when using firearms or practicing these drills. These drills are provided for information purposes only. Use at your own risk.

Start position: AIWB under polo
Starting PAR: 1.5
Lowest PAR with a hit: 1.3
Final PAR (20th draw): 1.4
Anything you noticed: Pretty much fluctuated back and forth between 1.3 and 1.5 as I couldn't shoot any faster than 1.3ish and that was really pushing it for me.

I went from only dropping 1 on the high% version to dropping 8 on this low% version. Aptly named I guess. I found myself getting sights on target and aligned with plenty of time but my trigger control, or lack of, screwed most of the shots up. I also started to fight eye sprinting and a lack of follow through as well. Pretty average for me and a 3x5. I was only a couple tenths better at the end of the year last year after a whole season of shooting.
