I'm curious what folks recommend for serviceable-ish 5.56 NATO training ammunition. I'm looking to purchase about 1500 rounds now, and will be purchasing more in the future.

Reloading isn't a consideration, but the ammo does need to be reliable, as I'm going to be running it in a high-volume course.

What do y'all recommend?

I've watched literally millions of rounds of XM193 fired downrange over the past couple of decades without any major issues.

Just got a case of 1000 American Eagle 55 grain off Ammoman for $325. No issues with American Eagle.

That MEN ammo is nice!

Magtech works pretty good as well.

I'm still impressed with Wolf Gold. Typically $280 per 1000 and has grouped better than XM193 at 200 and 300 yards for me.

The Hornady steel case ammo has been good, my agency has used 10-15k a year for several years. When I started buying it, it was cheaper than the also good American Eagle we had been using

Midway has IMI at $0.24/round shipped.

I think it's the best deal I've seen on 5.56 since before Obama.

I run XM193. Not saying it’s the only game in town, it’s just what I use. Works in all my rifles so I haven’t seen the need to experiment with anything else.

I run IMI 55gr 5.56 through all of my AR's when at the range, and my Stag M8 with it's 1/9 twist barrel lives on the stuff. I've found it to be not only reliable and accurate, but also high quality stuff for what you're paying. I do want to get a hold of some of the MEN german stuff eventually. But the IMI ammo hasn't let me down yet. I also use their 77gr Razor Core in my HK MR556 when I want to run 77gr but not dip into my Black hills 77gr TMK's. The IMI stuff is great.
