Got these (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0769KDLTZ/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) en route after having to borrow from JV_ last weekend at Quantico.

KAYTEE Walnut Pet Bed Litter - same stuff I use for tumbling. Buy it in big bag from Pet Smart. Will be heavy. I use mine off a bench.

The ones I have come with ground corn cob as I recall. I've read of folks using everything from rice to sand.

Usually a bipod up front with one of these Rifles Only Rear Bags (https://www.riflesonly.com/rear-bag). Baby popcorn kernels seem to make a good filler for DIY though.

Excellent, I have a bag already for the same reason.

Polystyrene beads if you want to save weight.

The ones I have were already filled and I don't know the fill.

I think corncob media is common. I have used rice before also but it tends to turn to dust. I have heard of using the airsoft "bbs" if you want lighter weight.

My father has been using the same benchrest bags for almost 50 years. A few are filled with lead shot for loading shotguns and the rest have sand

I use Poly-Fil pellets from Michaels. 20% off coupon should be easy to find ...

I don't use natural/organic stuff because I don't want to worry about it when it's wet.

I need to find a friend with some left over apparently :D

I'm out. When I realized we had leftover, I had my better half sew up another bag (medium) to use up the excess. You were using that bag ....

Last time I used play sand from Lowes, but next time (I can't find my damn rear bag...) I will use the beads.

I had one of those round bags they advise for bench shooting things with heavy recoil (I was using it for 12g slugs) and I filled one with #9 shot. When shot got close to $50 I dumped it back out and loaded with it.

I've used those and play sand. I keep putting off getting that heavy sand from Sinclair

As always, read the label before buying. Some of them are biodegradable. They melt when hit with water. That might prove adverse to your types of deployments.

No one yells at me to go shooting in rainstorms these days, but your mileage may vary.

Thank TJ Pilling, he said it does not mold, stink, clump or get heavier when exposed to water/weather. It may be what he uses in his Sling Bags.

Good question. I have bought my bags, and prefer the Triad Red Tac (https://www.triadtactical.com/Red-Tac-Gear-Rear-Bag.html) with poly beads for rear bags. But the best fill I've found comes inside the Wiebad Pump Pillow (http://wiebad.mybigcommerce.com/pump-pillow/). I've love to know what's in that bag.

According to a 6.5guys article (http://www.65guys.com/a-look-at-rear-bags/) it's Micro Bead. AKA bean bag chair fill.

FWIW, I tried airsoft beads in on of my rear bags and I don’t like it one lil bit. Thought it was a great idea too until I tried it. Too “loose” for my taste.

If you are not carrying them very far, truck to bench, I'll second or third the Sinclair heavy bag sand.
