Dadgummit, T, couldn't you have a category for old, retired bastids so we could answer what we did while still working as LEO's? ;)

I don't need a BUG these days so felt it would be inappropriate to answer as though I were still working.

(For the record, my G26, which I often carried solo as primary, became the BUG when I needed to carry two guns. The G19 taking over as primary.)

For those who answer "no" it might be useful to have a followup questions such as "why?" with at least "personal choice" and "not permitted by law" as options. The CHL laws of NM, for instance, specifically say that a licensee may carry one concealed handgun.

Even some agencies won't allow a second gun.

Doneskies.

5 people answered "No" at the time of the edit. If the 4 other than Blues want their answers on "why" to be included, feel free to post it here and we can guesstimate being this isn't scientific research.

I didn't want to go further than that, like asking "If you could, would you?" because people almost invariably overestimate their commitment/underestimate the burden in questions like this.

I answered yes, but i do not consider either gun a BUG.

I carry two guns for the ability to access a gun in most situations and circumstances.

One is aiwb and one is weak side front pocket. I do not consider either as bug or primary, but consider both as a gun to access in different situations.

I don't think your response link is right.

Works for me......I don't know what's wrong.

Anyone have any idea?

ETA: I just clicked a box that I think fixed it.

They both go to the survey for me. Probably a permissions issue of who's allowed to review results.

I found a button that allows respondents to view results. Here's another link that might work to allow you guys to see the results:

I answered, based upon my LE status, though I will retire later this month. The back-up weapon has just recently reverted to being a .357 SP101 revolver, after a year or two of using a G26. Nothing is likely to change, when I retire, except that I am considering my left hand becoming my “strong/primary” hand, and as my right hand is not aging well, .38 Special ammo may be loaded into the weapon positioned for right-hand access. (I am so very grateful that God created me to be functionally ambidextrous with DA revolvers.)

I am glad that my caliber choice doesn't even appear on the list as it is so rare, it seems.

Mmmmm....

7.63 Mauser out of a shorty Luger?

In any case, there should be an "Other" selection for you to write it in. :) I'm curious to know.

Big let down.

It's been on the list since it "went live". 10th choice down.

To be honest, I was almost thinking Glenn was going to say 32 S&W Long. I was actually thinking of putting that on there, but figured nah....couldn't be anyone actually carrying that. :)

At the Rangemaster Instructor Reunion, there was an impromptu survey on who carried what, and I was either the only guy or one of two guys that carried a primary pistol, a spare mag, a second gun AND medical equipment. And I don’t even wear cargo pants...

I know I'm one of the few at my agency who carries a backup off duty. My "on-duty" backup is a Glock 43 with a Streamlight TLR-6 in a Remora holster. My "off-duty" backup is a Ruger LCP in a Mitch Rosen pocket holster. I carry a primary (Glock 17 or 19 or 1911 of some sort usually) as well as a spare magazine. I never carried med equipment off duty. After the Vegas shooting, and when in a big public place (off duty), I at least try to carry a tourniquet, but I'm not reliable with that. I do keep medical equipment in the car but we all know what that means.

On duty, I've been carrying a tactical tailor mini med pouch on my vest since around 2009 or so. I also carried a tourniquet when few did. Now that I have some training behind me, I carry a tourniquet on every duty belt, two additional on the plate carrier, and three or four in major trauma kit. Watching a kid die in front of me made me consider medical training and equipment much more seriously. This makes me think I need to figure out how to incorporate some med stuff into my on-body edc.

Have you tried an ankle IFAK? You'd be able to wear it on and off duty without having to mess with your duty belt. I've been using the Rescue Essentials ankle rig on an everyday basis and have been very pleased. It's got a SOFT-TW, H&H mini compressed bandage, combat gauze, gloves, flat roll of duct tape (a LOT), and a SWAT-T.

This is exactly the way I carry. P320 Compact AIWB and a Walther PPS left front pocket. The Walther is always with me, regardless.
