I've got a gift card for Brownells burning a hole in my pocket but KRG says that the Sako green Bravos are due out next week. Trying very hard to wait.

I’ve been eye balling a savage bolt gun that could use a chassis. Definitely going to keep KRG in mind if I talk myself into the bolt gun.

I bought a grayboe stock just before these came out. Oh well; I’ll have to try this one too. They need to make these for CZ 455s in .22lr. .

If I can ever find the time, capital, and access to something more than a 25 yard indoor or 100 yard outdoor range again, a couple 7.62 and 6.5mm bolt guns are on the dockets. This might just be the chassis for them . . . looking forward to hearing how that chassis works out.

I do sort of want it, but I really think you should sell it for good tequila and/or reloading components money.

Meh, if you can use it, it’s yours along with that Model 41.

Somehow missed this thread when you started it in January. The Sako green is sharp. Is this #2 then, or did you not originally pick up,the black one?

I’ve got two Bravo’s. I got one for the 700SA shortly after it was released in mid-December. I followed that up for one for my LA after that. The LA actually has the Whiskey-3 backbone in it. At the time, that was the only way the LA was available, and I wanted the .308 and the .300 set up identically for the stocks.

I found the adjustable butt pad to be a very nice, and relatiely inexpensive improvement. Makes everything fit better and it alliws for a more natural NPA. The spigot I’m “so-so” on. It gets the bipod a bit further forward, but since I’m not really planning on putting anything else on it, not sure if it was a worthwhile investment for the price. Bag stops on the bottom of the stock are another cheap (they were like $5 IIRC) little tidbit that helps anchor stuff for me shooting prone.

The one negative issue I had was with the cheek rest. On the LA, there isnt enough room to cycle the bolt when the rest is raised to the required position for me. In fact, the allowable adjustment is quite small...about 1/2” I believe. KRG’s suggestion involved the use of a Dremel Tool, which I really didnt believe was the best for me. I ended up building the rest up using dense closed cell sheet hobby foam. 3 layers bonded by contact cement and sanded with 600&800 wet dry. Now, the bolt extends right into the cutout when its at the proper adustment for my face. The SA didnt have the issue obviously and it functions normally with proper clearance.

Overall I have been pleased on the performance. I’m not a “chassis guy” and wanted something to replace the traditional HS stocks I had on each rifle. I’ve shot the .300 out to 1K so far with it, and was pleased with the ergonomics. Hopefully get the .308 out past 100yds soon when the weather up here breaks and I can get out to set up some steel. I’d be interested on your thoughts on the performance on your Sako.

I have a KRG Bravo on my Vudoo. I picked it because it was a chassis that looked the most like a real rifle, not a space gun. ;)

I ordered a FDE KRG Bravo for my custom barreled action in 6.5 CM. Kept looking at other "chassis" but cannot justify the price over the Bravo. Ordered from Brownells (actually backordered) and got 10% off plus free shipping (through a PF link).

Bringing life to an old thread! I just picked up a BRAVO to try out on my Bergara B14 HMR. I won’t be able to shoot it for a while, but so far, I’m happy with the fit and feel, but I ran into some very minor install issues.

I thought it would be simply securing the two action screws and done, but for my setup, it wasn’t. The first issue was with the captured front action screw. When I was test fitting my action, it seemed that there were only 2-3 rotations before it was hand tight. I checked online and someone else had the same problem. Turns out that there were 2 washers under the screw so one had to be removed. This required removing the 8 screws that secured the polymer forend to the aluminum chassis. Once the forend was removed, there were 2 washers under the front screw. I don’t know if they were suppose to be there or not, but one had to be removed.

If you’re adding any accessories to the bottom of the handguard, it might be easier to do with the action removed from the chassis. I replaced the front sling stud/bipod mount with a section of pic rail. The rail is held on with 2 screws and nuts that nest into inner surface of the aluminum frame.

I tested out some Magpul AICS mags it it and they fit snugly. Almost no movement when the mag is fully seated. The mags don’t drop free and require a tug to get out. I’ve been told that this is a desired feature with bolt actions.

Overall, I’m very happy with the Bravo… for the price, it can’t be beat. Now I have to patiently wait to get some range time with it!!

I had two Bravos. One for a 700SA and another for a LA. Sold the short (went back to factory stock) and still have the LA. I’ve been very pleased over the years with them. Never had issues and everything has held up well. Customer service was great (one of them...can’t recall...was back ordered and their communication was excellent). I haven’t shot long range in the past few years, but looking forward to digging them out and getting back into it soon.

I’m a fan of the Bravo and KRG products. Once you get used to the system, they work pretty well.

+ 1 on KRG. I love the X-Ray I put my Tikka in. They were great to deal with and the quality is definitely worth the money.

I reached out to KRG about the 2 washers in the front screw and they confirmed that it was normal. They said that it was to ensure the screw did not extend into the chamber area and make contact with the bolt, possibly damaging it.

I visually checked my rig that I set up it’s only 1 washer and the bolt did not extend into chamber. I ran the bolt a few times and could feel no extra friction. I then inspected the bolt annd saw no wear marks. For good measure, I also took the action out of the chassis and took some measurements. My Bergara’s hold depth from surface to bolt was .180”. The screw engagement surface with only 1 washer was .120”.

Out of pure laziness, I left my setup with only one washer.

I found another adjustment feature of the Bravo chassis… the trigger guard/mag release. If you remove your action, you’ll see there is one screw that secures the guard to the aluminum frame. If you loosen this screw, the guard/mag release can move foreword or back about 1/16”. Before I adjusted this, my Magpul mags were a really tight fit. I literally had to tug the magazine out. Now they insert and slide out easily.

Still haven’t had a chance o hit the range to test out the Bravo, but I decided to do a small mod to the stock. In factory form, the rear sling QD cup sit very high. With a sling installed, I noticed the sling hardware digging into my face or body.

I decided to install a GroveTec flush mount QD cup a little lower in the stock. The GroveTec cup worked perfectly because the backing nut is 1/2”. Inside of the stock, there are raised ribs that are a 1/2” apart, so the nut fits snugly between them and holds in place when tightening down the cup.

My only minor gripe with the GroveTec cups are that they are full rotation. I figure they are made this way because if they were limited rotation, pressure on the sling could loosen the cup.

The drill size needed to install the cup was 9/16”. If anyone wants more info on how I measured to get the nut to fit perfectly between the ribs, let me know, and I’ll post.

Any word on what they are changing? From the picture, the only obvious thing I can see is that the front is squared off… the current ones have the first few inches rounded off to accommodate Harris bipods.

I finally got to the range today to test out the Bergara/Bravo setup. The POI change after installing the Bravo… about 4” high and 1” right at 100 yds. Thank goodness I had my bit set with me because I had to disassemble the turrets to re-adjust the zero stop on my Vortex PST.

I’m very happy with the fit, feel, and accuracy with the Bravo. MY Bergara definitely shot the best with Fed GMM. I also shot Hornady ELD Match and PMC Match… all in 168 gn.

I recently purchased a Tikka T3X Varmint 223. My local rifle smith chopped the barrel to 20" and threaded the muzzle. I dropped the barreled action into a KRG Bravo. I'm early in load development but, it will shoot 5 rounds of pretty much anything into .4 - .6 MOA.

I just checked KRG’s site and they show the gen 2 Bravo, but I couldn’t find any info mentioning and differences with the previous version. From their pics, the only thing I could see was the squared off front of the forend and 3 holes above the mag well. I can only assume the holes are for mounting accessories like a spare bullet holder?!?

I emailed the to ask about the differences and I’ll post their response once they reply.

I did some online digging and found a thread about it on another forum. A guy bought one and said the new version has threaded brass inserts on the bottom holes to add accessories. With the old gen, you had to remove the polymer cover and insert nut to screw on any accessories.

The three threaded holes above the mag well are for mounting the KRG 2 round quiver or other accessories.

So nothing drastic unless you plan on bolting on a bunch of accessories. I’ll be satisfied with my OLD version…

I got BIT by my stock today! I was picking up the rifle by the hand grip and my finger got caught in the gap between grip and trigger guard. There was a sharp corner on the grip that caught my skin and cut my finger!

A couple swipes with a file and the sharp edge was gone. I still love the stock!

Here’s a photo after I removed the corner.

I abandoned my Howa 1500 Mini 6mm ARC project, but now I’m wondering about doing a build on a Savage 11 Hog Hunter I have lying around unused. If I remember correctly, for 6.5 Creed all I need is a barrel - the bolt head is the same. Not sure about converting a Savage to 6mm ARC. Bravo would be an ideal chassis for this…

I have nothing other than .223 and .308 bolt rifles, and now I have a place to shoot longer ranges.

For a savage based 6.5 grendel or 6mm arc, you want a ppc bolt head along with the mdt aics mag for those calibers

You are correct 6 and 6.5 creed use standard .473 bolt head

I just got a response from KRG:

“ The major differences between the Gen 1 and Gen 2 are listed below.

- the bottom of the forend is flat to accommodate full length rails
- threaded inserts for ease of accessory attachment
- threaded inserts on the side of the magwell for the KRG quiver system
- slight change in the forend shape to assist with use of saddle and clamp style rifle supports
- more pronounced magwell”
