50,000 hour battery life, lifetime warranty, “MD-RB-AD-SP is designed for use on heavy recoiling firearms such as shotguns”, the blem part of this is that due to a machining error, you are limited to the base/riser as shipped. Fine with me, this is going on my 1301.

The MD-RB-AD-SP comes with a removable 1913 MIL STD Picatinny base. With the base removed, the scope body is NOT compatible with industry standard micro mount systems. The scope body was machined incorrectly at the factory, so MD-RB-AD-SP is ONLY compatible with the removable base and riser mount that are included with it in the box, and will not fit other aftermarket mounts. MD-RB-AD-SP is considered a factory blemished optic for this reason.

I bought a Police trade in Colt 6920 to have as a back up AR a couple of months ago. I keep thinking I’d like a dot on it but it’s going to be a long while before I can put up the money for an Aimpoint.

Problem solved. Thanks for posting LittleLebowski.

I bit on one before I read this. I don't have anything to put it on, but something tells me I will very soon, IF I get a decent check in Dec. (Varies after expenses, if it's a "bad" one, I will be selling stuff to get by) I got a nice one in Nov, so I may have a merry Christmas indeed.

Got mine today.

Me too, my dot appears to be defective. It’s not a blob, it looks more like a wireless signal icon with clearly defined lines. My eyes sight is still 20/15 in both eyes uncorrected and both my other PA red dot and my Aimpints look fine, so I’m pretty sure it’s this unit. I’ve emailed PA about it, I’m sure they will make it right.

Mine is fine. I even torture tested it by dropping it on my foot when I was mounting the riser. It's surprisingly solid and heavy when it lands on top of your bare foot. The carry handle on my backup Bushmaster is now gone and a folding rear Magpul is ordered from Brownells.

Oh, and Brownells has 11% off everything, free shipping, no minimums. NBB is the code.

I’m a little disappointed I missed out on this. I had one in my cart and was browsing other knick knacks I wanted. When I was ready to check out, they had sold out. $70 was a pretty damn good deal even knowing you can’t use any mount but the factory one.

The dot on mine has starburst even at low setting with my glasses on. I took a picture of it with my phone as a control and it is actually round but not to my eyes. Definely inferior not only to Aimpoints but to the cheap SIG and holosun RDS I have as well. It has significant fish eye to the point it appears to have a clear ring around the tinted center.

I have a bit of astigmatism. I get a little starburst on all red dots. I never thought to take a picture of the dot. I just did and it is freaky as fuck -- the dots are so perfectlyround and consistent that they look like they are fake and painted on the pictures. :)

I am going to do this. I have never had this much of a issue with dots. But it very could be me and the wifes issue. Mine looks more like LL said then a burst effect.

I got a bit of astigmatism with the age related presbyopia but I don't normally get starbursts with RDS with my glasses. This one has some issues, likely related to the fish eye I'm seeing.

With the two supplied bases it will fit any standard rail. It's when you try to mount the optic to a different base that it won't work.

I have limited red dot experience. When looking through the optic at something in the distance it is a nice crisp dot and I'm running mine on the #3 setting. If I hold my hand up close to the optic it looks like a report from fireworks. Not sure if that's normal but when used as intended it looks very crisp to me.

I wish I had known they would be back. I jumped on one of the UTG red/green dots for $24.95 from CTD. A friend has one on his Beretta CX-4, and it's not bad at all. I like the PA one better, but the UTG is really bright when on green. For that price, I had to go for it.

Mine came yesterday. The dot looks the same as a T1 to me: minor star bursting at lower levels that gets progressively worse as illumination increases. I’ve never handled a T2 to compare.

It’s lightweight and cheap with Aimpoint level battery life. I’ve heard good things about their durability but I likely won’t ever run it hard enough to test. Mine is mounted on my Colt Trooper right now.

Got mine. Seems nice. Mounted to 1301 plastic rail and it sits a touch high. Sadly it won’t work with the Aridus direct mount rail due to the blemish mounting screw location problem.

Shot 50 rounds through it and thought I broke it as I had four or five different dots visible when shooting. Turns out they were internal reflections from
sunlight and occur with low angle sun when the sun is to your 6-8 o’clock. Something to be aware of as it was nearly impossible to find the correct dot when it was reflecting.

For me the dot looks perfect. Nice round 2 MOA.

Received the following email

Dear Customer,

We discovered that the night vision settings on your Primary Arms Advanced Micro Dot are too bright. This issue only affects the night vision settings and does not indicate any larger problem with the optic’s performance. At our headquarters in Houston, we test 100% of the units that arrive from our overseas factories. However, checking the NV settings was not part of our testing. That was immediately changed once this problem was discovered.

We apologize for the inconvenience this has caused, and hope the options listed below will resolve the matter for you. Your satisfaction has been and will always be our top priority.

We can replace the circuit in your red dot and make it NV compatible. However, it will take some time to get the parts. We will send a follow up email at that time, and we will send a pre-paid mailing label for you to return your red dot to us for the repair.

OR

We can refund your money. Just let us know, and we will send a pre-paid mailing label for you to send your red dot back to us and get a refund.

Sincerely,

Marshall Lerner

Anyhoo. I noticed on the website that another model is listed as a "Blem" because the NV settings are too bright. I have no concern whatsoever about night vision compatibility, but will be watching in case someone returns theirs and I can score a second one...

WobblyPossum

I have no need for night vision setting since I no longer have access to night vision devices. I’ll still probably send mine in for repair once the parts come in just because. I noticed my NV settings were easily daylight visible but I just assumed that was normal since it was a $70 Chinese red dot.

I've only had one trip to the range with mine but I like it so far. It's on my training rifle. Straight out of the box mine was only a couple inches low and to the right at 100 yards so it only took a couple minutes to zero it.

I don't have any real world NV experience so I have no idea how visible the dot should be on those settings, but mine are bright enough to see in the day time. I'm not going to return it over that though.

So I bought one of these during Black Friday. I noticed it had significant fisheye and the center portion had a noticeable blue tint like an MRO. Much more noticeable than on comprable optics like Holosuns.

So I finally took it out for a second look. Basically there is a red reflection covering about 1/4 of the FOV from 8 o'clock to 1 o'clock.

I've tried my best to capture it with my phone camera:

23492

23493

It's fainter against a light background but you can still see it if you look:

Definitely should call them. Mine has none of that, so it’s a “defect” not the usual product. PA seems to have a good reputation for customer service, so I’d expect that they’d take care of you.

Got the sight out to try some long range action. Worked perfect. Shot out to 385 yards. The glass was clear and the dot went small enough to hit steel at that distance. It is not the needle point of a t2 at lowest setting but close. We shot a lot of ammo through the gun. Even some 77 grn match stuff. Throughout the day the mount never loosened and the dot did not falter. Very happy for what it is that is for sure.

Put 225 rounds through it in an afternoon on a 1301T without issue.

I sent mine back to have the NV settings fixed. Door to door turn around time was about two weeks, maybe a little less. I have mine mounted on a Colt Trooper and it only has 40 or so rounds through it but I have no complaints for a $70 optic so far. Due to my astigmatism, the dot isn’t perfectly round but that’s the case with every red dot I’ve seen. If everyone who’s mounted them to shotguns reports positive results, I might eventually buy a second one to mount on a 1301.

Ditto, substitute "Mossberg 500" for "1301". #poorfag (https://pistol-forum.com/usertag.php?do=list&action=hash&hash=poorfag) (As in, not buying an additional scattergun...)

I have mine on my AK mounted on an Ultimak. For any that aren't familiar, the Ultimak is a replacement railed gas tube that attaches to the barrel via clamps. I've got this thing so hot on several occasions lately that you couldn't touch the optic without getting burned. It hasn't fried the optic yet. It did however fry a Surefire G2. I've moved to a different light mount setup and location and the other G2 is holding up fine.

Just an FYI, those are not the 50,000 hour models, but still a great deal.

Oops. My apologies to anyone who ordered one thinking it was the 50K model. I ordered one to stand in for an Aimpoint H1 on a practice gun so I'm not concerned, I didn't even know the battery life of either or that there were different ones but some folks might care.

Mine's either going to free up the Burris on my Scorpion or replace the 15+ year old BSA on my .22 1911 conversion so no biggie.

I ordered one. Just curious for those who were putting them on shotguns last go-around, anything significant to report one year later?

They have quite a few blem scopes: Sale Name: Clearance, Sale, Sale Categories: Primary-Arms-Optics-Blem-Sale (https://www.primaryarms.com/AdName+Clearance,Sale/SaleName+Primary-Arms-Optics-Blem-Sale)
In the past, the "blemish" has often been a non-standard mount, or an inability to function with night vision devices.

(EDIT: Just realized most of those show out of stock, sorry about that.)

So far, I have good luck with PA blems - 1x6, 1x8, and 4X14. I ordered another 4x14 on the recent sale.

I have one of the 50k hour units from the sale earlier this year. It ran fine on my 870 in Bolke’s October class. It was only a dozen or so slug/buck and maybe 200 birdshot.

I've never tried a red dot. Would a 2-minute dot be too small to pick up quickly? Main usage would be on my 590A1 for in-the-house stuff.

My nephew has Mr. Magoo eyesight and he has no problems with the 2 moa dot. Having it on the correct brightness setting is probably more important than dot size.

This. I have several 2-MOA dots, just make sure the brightness is high enough and you should be able to pick it up no problem.

Same here. I had one mounted on the 870 testbed shotgun that one of my nephews ran in that class. It ran fine for him with no issues. He's used to a M68 Aimpoint on an Army M4.

I'm going to keep beating on it until it breaks. I am pretty sure it will, it's an interesting exercise.

This is what I ended up doing with mine. I used the target to sight in 3 different pistols, the 2 circled groups were the final two to confirm zero on this dot.

I like it and I'll certainly consider 1 or more for my fun time firearms.

Bumping this thread for a review of this $70 red dot after 2 1/2 years of use, also to see how other people's have held up. TL;DR version. It still works and is still on the same battery that PA shipped with it. I've left it on this whole time on setting 5-7.

Long version. It survived many months of use on my AK mounted on the Ultimak. It got so hot on several occasions riding on the Ultimak over a few thousand rounds that I was sure it was gonna kill it but it just kept working. It's been moved back and forth several times between different AKs of mine, my kids M&P 15-22, my wife's AR pistol, but it's sat for a few months in the safe unused. I decided to throw it on one of my 6933 uppers this morning but I couldn't find the lower 1/3 mount that came with it. The blemished part of these is in the machining for the mount so they won't fit a T1 mounting pattern like the non blemished version.
Or will it....

I compared the mounting holes in the optic with this T1 compatible Holosun mount that I had laying around and it became clear that the holes were in the right location, but the little square nub on the bottom of the optic, the same nub that is on the Aimpoint Micros, was in the wrong spot. I took a sharp file and removed some material from the backside of that nub until the holes in the mount and the holes in the optic lined up. Now it will fit any T1 mount out there, even though I have no plans to switch mounts unless I break this one. All in all, if it dies later today while I'm at the range I can say that I've got my $70 and then some out of it.

I did end up buying another some time later along with the $20 UTG lower 1/3 mount from Amazon. It's on my kids 15-22. Excuse the potato pics, my phone has been dropped a few times.

My blemished Microdot is also still running on its initial battery, having been constantly on since I got it. The glass isn’t as clear, and the coating isn’t as resistant to distortion caused by the sun as my T2, but I never expected it to be as good as my T2 for $70. I’ve since purchased two additional Microdots, one of which sits on my 1301. I haven’t put enough rounds through the 1301 with the optic mounted to decide if it’s tough enough to really handle long term 12ga recoil. I wish they weren’t made in China, but that’s really my only complaint.

Reasonably well considering the price point. That said, I would not depend on it.

I replaced the battery in the microdot when it died and had a heck of a time getting the dot to come back on afterward (about a dozen cycles of the switch). I've had zero shift on PA dots and the batteries don't last (I haven't put them on the clock, but if left on, I can expect to replace the battery within 30-60 days or so). The HD rifle got an Aimpoint after my experiences with the 30mm, and the lever action got a scope.

They're GREAT for range optics on training/practice rifles - if I have to keep some spare batteries and rezero every couple hundred rounds, those are annoyances, not tragedies.
