:57 seemed rather unsafe, among others.

It's the rush to be more "hardcore" and "realistic" than the next guy, and it's getting downright silly. Seriously, what's the thing with playing pattycake with the big stick before shooting SHO? What skill or habit does that assist, inculcate, aid, teach, or reinforce?

The "ritual" is to spot nonsense and mercilessly call it what it is. Actually attempting to force a student who is finger-on-trigger with a cocked firearm to lose balance and fall is nonsense.

And what's with the cardboard box? "If you happen to find yourself fighting from behind a refrigerator box, roll it along in front of you as you move, 'cause it's *great* cover".

Or could they just afford one for their shooting from cover/concealment drills, so they have to move it from position to position?

For S&Gs I googled Xia Tactical, and there is a blog entry entitled "Asshat Pistol Training With Bamboo Logs And Lawn Chairs." http://www.everydaynodaysoff.com/2012/01/23/asshat-pistol-training-with-bamboo-logs-and-lawn-chairs/
...but not much else.

The good news: they are located in Peru, so at least this idiocy isn't in my backyard.

The bad news: someone watching this on YouTube will think it's a really good idea. Look for news articles about some AD/ND incidents involving lawn chairs, poles, or cardboard boxes.

It must be "bad idea Monday", I visited that site, and this is what I saw in the ad on the right:

Bamboo logs add an eastern flair that really brings in the martial arts feel. I mean, what's more legit than bamboo? Oh yeah, actual techniques taught by legitimate instructors. My bad.

If someone hits me with a bamboo pole, I'm going to either hit them back with it (i was waiting for someone to use it to leg-sweep the instructor, way to let me down guys) or I'm going to shoot the person hitting me (again...epic fail on entertaining me, students in the video). Not get up and run away shooting at a completely different target. I hope "threat recognition" wasn't a syllabus item on the class, because drawing to shoot somebody 10 yards away while being hit with a bamboo pole seems like my prioritization of immediate danger is a bit off.

Some of the pole dancing maneuvers might be handy if SHOT coincides with the AVN convention again, again.

And what's with the cardboard box?

CQB for UPS drivers?

And what if you were walking though a south-east Asian jungle and suddenly Jet Li and Jackie Chan attacked you using paper clips as improvised shivs? Bet you would wish you had the bamboo pole training in your tool kit.

The problem I have with stuff like this is that it takes a good idea like learning to shoot from unconventional positions such as lying on your back or from an unstable platform and then ramps it up to dangerous levels of stupidity.

Hahahahaha.

Oh man. I loved :28 where he was, as Tam put it, playing patty-cake with a bamboo stick before drawing. That was even better than the asshat we saw last time training in the Philippines. We need to start a stickied thread as a "Hall of Fame" for companies like this.

From what I've seen so far, there's these guys, the dudes in black BDU's doing the tactical dancing, and then that supposed former Marine Recon dude running the stuff in the Philippines.

For pure laughter, nothing beats the VIPER Academy in Detroit, though. I remember seeing a really funny video of a massive formation of Japanese body guards in suits on top of a building doing "step-pivot-present" with J-frames secured by lanyards. I think it was most funny simply because of how the Japanese do everything with cheesy 80's B-grade porn music and an abundance of dutch-angle camera shots.

Aww phooey they pulled the video. I was going to show some people I know.

I'm going to need to start archiving this kind of stuff. I already have the Elite Team Fighting guy's videos archived.

Have any of the PMC guys here at P-F heard anything about them?

Just spitballing here but someone could capitalize on the ignorant by naming their company Xia right about the same time a well known company changes their name to Xe.

Read their "Our History" page on the web site.

Things that make you go hmmmm.

They will also do Tactical Log for Girls. It will also have velcro and a rail, but will be pink. Charter Arms will sell a revolver version.

I hope I don't get any crap for uploading it. Once you see it you'll understand why it's important to be archived especially since it's been taken down.

QUESTIONS:

* What if the shotgun jams? Should I throw it too and move to the pistol?
* Should I carry both the shotgun and the rifle? Or pick one?
* What kind of load should I use for that "99.9 stopping power rating" in the shotgun?
* Should I wear the uniform, kevlar gloves, helmet, bodyarmor, and giant knife in my day-to-day activities, or only when I'm getting ready for elite fighting?
* How do I know when I am good enough to be an "elite fighter"?
* I note that the video shows a full length rifle, yet many other "elite fighters" seem to favor shorter carbines or even SBRs. Is that because it should only be uses for "sniping" (more than 10' away) since I will have the shotgun that spews cones of instant death ray?

Some of your questions might have been addressed in part 2.

As for the rest, I'm not an elite enough team fighter to be qualified to answer them :(

I am working on that though:

I love how *every* time he picks up a longarm, he reminds us to check to make sure that it's empty and to keep the fingers off the trigger until we're on target and ready to shoot, yet he *never* mentions this with regards to a pistol.
