Week 241: 2 Shot SHO & WHO Draws

Results may be posted until December 3rd, 2017.

Designed by: joshs
Range: 7 yards
Target: 3x5 card
Start Position: Holstered
Rounds Fired: 100

This week we are going to work on strong hand only and weak hand only draws. Continuing with the trend from last week, we are going to repeat similar techniques multiple times to improve skill.

Draw and fire two shots to the 3x5 card strong hand only with no time limit. Repeat for a total of 25 repetitions. Do not use you weak hand to clear you cover garment. If you are not confident in your ability to hit a 3x5 card at 7 yards strong hand only, then reduce the distance as required.

Repeat the drill weak hand only. If you do not have experience drawing with your weak hand, do not perform the weak hand portion of the drill from the holster. As an alternative, you may start from the ready position. If you are not confident in your ability to hit a 3x5 card at the distance you shot the strong hand string, you may further reduce the distance for the weak hand string.

Please report the following when you post your results in this thread:

- Starting position (ready position, open holster, retention holster, or concealed)
- Number of hits strong hand only
- Number of hits weak hand only
- Anything you noticed

Training with firearms is an inherently dangerous activity. Be sure to follow all safety protocols when using firearms or practicing these drills. These drills are provided for information purposes only. Use at your own risk.

Starting position: holstered AIWB concealed under a button up shirt with a fleece jacket over it
SHO Hits: 37/50
WHO Hits: 33/50
Things I noticed: I don’t work on one handed drawing and shooting enough. I don’t have a good index with either single hand where as if I present a pistol two handed, there’s a good chance my sights appear on target.

USPSA Carry Optics gear.

SHO 44 hits.
WHO 40 hits.

I ran the timer and found I was roughly 1 second or so slower WHO. I was drawing strong hand, then transferring to WHO.

- Starting position: SHO - Concealed under insulated shirt; WHO - low ready. S&W M10-8, Rusty Sherrick High Rise Double Loop holster.
- Number of hits strong hand only: 43
- Number of hits weak hand only: 44
- Anything you noticed:

- I took WAY too much advantage of the "no time limit" thing. It was the first time I tried a 3x5 card one-handed and my lack of confidence showed.
- My hits shooting WHO were better, but my misses were worse. When I pull a shot, I do it right!
