If you ever attended Rangemaster classes in Memphis at former Elvis’ Raquetball Court, or at the FTU, you probably saw the laminated visual aids that demonstrate the sidearm/shotgun nomenclature on the walls of the classrooms there.

I was cleaning out my parts bin for a big FS thread, and found enough parts to build this from an old Wingmaster.

I like it. Light, handy, and I think the sights should work ok, although I’m not used to seeing that much of the barrel.

I feel like 80’s era Rutger Hauer swinging this boom stick around. I’m not gonna lie...it’s a good feeling.

Did you cut the stock down a bit? Looks a touch shorter to me but hard to tell.

Love it. Vent rib, ghost rings, pachy forend, even the wood stock. If you ever decide you want to go old school synthetic, I may have an old Speedfeed stock someplace that might fit, I'd have to check though.

But it's so perfect, why ruin it?

Exactly how I'd want mine except I might add a Andy Langlois butt stock ammo holder.

Where did you get the vent rib barrel with front sight? Custom?

Sherm, you are definitely the coolest dentist I've ever had the pleasure to have known.
(Aside from that ammo / ballistics guy. Don't wanna forget him. ;) )

(And I've known a few, and some weren't a particular pleasure but that's another subject entirely.)

There's just something about SD shotguns wearing short VR barrels and wood furniture.... ;-)

Very nice!

Custom. Taylor Mock, Texas Brigade Armory did the work.

Thank you Sir! Believe it or not, that’s a Choate, “corncob,” forend. I had the same forend on my work 870 in the 90’s with a lightweight, somewhat skeltonized (more like Batwing) Choate stock. Pretty light and handy.

Nifty! Some years back I had a 28" V/R barrel cut back to 19" by Karl Sokol. He also re-threaded it for Rem-chokes.

Very cool. I have a '60s era Wingmaster and an old set of 870 Police wood furniture and I've been toying with the idea of doing something like this. I've been hung up on whether to cut the stock down and how much. Yours looks great -- I actually really like the mix of wood stock and Choate forend. Purposeful comes to mind.

I did not realize this old girl was considered sexy anymore.... 20” v/r, big dot on front with mid bead.

If you look at some of the posters at the MPD FTU really carefully, you can actually see the shape of Rangemaster logo where they tried to remove it and add their own.

Crazy! They were stealing good info!

Someone tech savvy should tag Tom in on this so he can tell us the WHY of that particular shotgun.

I think I have one of those Choate stocks in my parts bin.

Nothing says "move along, convict," like a Wingmaster with a corncob fore end.
