Saw SIG's new 229RX and noted it has the old short extractor. Is this simply to accommodate the RX or is SIG moving back towards the short extractor ?

Photoshop mock up, I think. Look at the videos below.

Maybe he now Safariland will get off their ass and start making MRDS duty holsters for Sig’s. I’ve still got my 229/RMR slide set back if they ever do.

The 226 RXs I’ve seen all appear to have the long extractors, FWIW.

I asked several years ago about some short extractors I'd seen. Todd was of the opinion that Sig had a bunch of parts and some were short extractors they still had to install. GT Distributors seemed to agree, saying they couldn't guarantee which extractor would be delivered on special order. If so, getting one is just a matter of luck.

My MK25RX has the short extractor. But all MK25s have the short extractor so...

I just saw this:

229. Short extractor. No rail. Short trigger. Some kinda G10 grips, looks like. Interesting. Wilson's been stalling on that new 92...

If I knew for sure it didn't have a MIM locking insert... I'd be very tempted...

Yeah, that. The E2 grip is chopped on as well. Vids are all long extractor.

And never rely on a photo at Bud's. You're buying a UPC and SKU when you order from them.

I think this one legit has the short extractor:

That's the same gun--Talo edition.

Interesting.

Sigs were my "first love" in handguns. But honestly, I just haven't felt all that excited about their recent stuff--more in the Beretta camp, these days. But this is a step in the right direction. As someone mentioned... I wonder why the short extractor is coming back? Internet hearsay suggests it's the more reliable design (compared to the new long extractor). Or maybe they just had slides left over from a contract.

The short extractor is known as the "legacy" extractor in Sig parlance. It can still be ordered on the LE side of the house. As I understand it, the current legacy extractor are still MIM. If you wanted a bomb proof Sig, the legacy slide with a Gray Guns tool steel extractor would be pretty close.
