View Full Version : Zuckerberg's Accession to Deity Status

As proof-positive of how insane wealth can lead to actual insanity, douchebag Mark Zuckerburg now thinks Facebook can replace religion;

http://www.trunews.com/article/zuckerberg-wants-facebook-to-replace-churches-really

Sadly there are probably plenty of spiritually-bankrupt FB users who would consider the website as such and in the process end up worshipping this self-aggrandizing a$$hole.

Un-freakin'-believable....sorry for the Saturday morning rant.

Studies have shown that the Apple Faithful experience similar brain activity as religiously devout. It stands to reason that Zuck might try and capitalize on something similar.

I saw nothing in the quotes used by the article that suggests Zuckerman wants Facebook to replace churches. In fact, the quotes from CNBC indicate otherwise-

"It's so striking that for decades, membership in all kinds of groups has declined as much as one-quarter," he said*during a rally for Facebook users*who've built large community-support groups on the site.*"That's a lot of of people who now need to find a sense of purpose and support somewhere else."

"A church doesn't just come together. It has a pastor who cares for the well-being of their congregation, makes sure they have food and shelter. A little league team has a coach who motivates the kids and helps them hit better. Leaders set the culture, inspire us, give us a safety net, and look out for us."

From the quotes, it appears Zuckerman wants to make Facebook easier for people to use to find churches and other communities that they'd like to join. The author has taken the quotes completely out of context

My take - and the take of all the reading I have done on this - is that the "communities" he refers to are Facebook groups. This is all about him growing his social media empire to further feed his Messiah complex (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Messiah_complex);

I often refer to PF as a community -- one that I strive to grow. Do I have a messiah complex too? :)

Are we your flock? The Tom Jones' Peoples Temple?

Well, you have discussed the forum commandments recently and I assume they are derived from the Taurah.

So, what say you, Moses Tom? Come on down from that mountain and speak to the people. ;)

The closet thing any of the articles have to support their claim of nefarious activity is "Zuckerberg suggested that Facebook communities can fill the void left by declining religious participation"

Yes, we should be concerned with the trends we are seeing and why those trends are happening. One of the reasons we're seeing these trends is fear mongering. Saying Zuckerberg thinks he's God based on the quotes given is a huge stretch. This type of "reporting" only lends impetus to the trends were concerned with

A little research on this guy reveals much. In regards to his Messiah Complex, there are plenty of others observing the same delusion.

The problem is that to many people forget that "social media" is suppose to be a way for us to connect further with the real world. Not become a world of it's own. If your facebook, and all the other stuff, doesn't enhance your real life, then it's kind of useless isn't it?

This whole thing makes me wonder if he wants to do a L Ron Hubbard/Joseph Smith thing and start his own religion. Maybe working on tax implications.

Just move. That's what the co-founder of Facebook did. Renounce his US Citizenship and move to Singapore. Boom, instantly avoided 700 million in capital gains tax.

Very rare to find a social statement on demographics that qualifies itself. Here we have the assumption Facebook demographic = reality. Didn't learn anything from the recent election.

I can only hope for Election-mageddon Part II. The 2nd Coming, if you will.

The Book of Mormon mentions the Model 1895, the Pocket Model 1903, the 1911, the BAR and the Ma Deuce, but nothing about a P-10

I'm not a huge fan of social media, especially Facebook. I've dropped all but one FBF, and only follow a handful of grips and businesses.

But today, Facebook saved my loading bench. After running out of juice in my drill, I looked to find the movers had already packed the charger and spare.

Shout out to my neighborhood Facebook page, and the gal from Next door was over in two minutes. Had I not been able to get it disassembled, it would have been left behind:(
