View Full Version : What are you waiting on?

theJanitor

Just a general gear/gun question. Do you have a deposit for, or on a waiting list, for anything gun related?

I'm waiting for a call from my gunsmith so I can send in my Wiley Clapp CCO. I'm also eagerly waiting for a call from the shop that's going to do a grip reduction on my glock. I've got two holsters that I hope are completed soon too. As soon as those get delivered, I can make up my mind what to do with my Les Baer Commanche.

So what are you waiting on?

It's a good question...I have a mile-long wishlist, but most of it is stuff I can't just buy like a permanent job, a house, and a garage.

Why am I waiting? Paying off debt takes time. Completing a PhD takes time. Writing papers and grants all take time. So, everything waits.

Every once in awhile something comes up that I have the spare cash for and I can make a move on it. But I've kept myself off most lists to maintain flexibility and not have too many financial commitments.

Form 4 for PD trade in 14" Benelli M1 Super 90.

Impulse buy at a price I could not refuse. I was put in charge of a retirement gift for my old boss, a Ruger GP-100 duplicating his original duty gun. I went to GT Distributors to pick it up and encountered a rack full of PD trade in 14" M1's at < $500. Of course I may be retired by the time my form 4 comes back......

I've promised to buy myself a nice 1911 as a tribute to my grandfather. The purchase is probably a year away but it will be sweet when I get to that point. My granddad was a WWII Marine Officer and taught me to shoot when I was little. One of my fondest memories as a kid was going out to an old shooting range on the edge of Roswell with my older brother, dad and grandfather. Granddad, who shot his old colt one-handed, would shoot an oil can from about 20 or 30 feet away and as soon as it would stop spinning or bouncing around he'd hit it again. I don't think that he ever missed. As a little kid regulated to a single shot .22 rifle, I was amazed. When he passed away, we couldn't find his .45 - found all his other firearms, but not the .45.
My wife has had some health issues accompanied by a loss of her salary and some huge medical bills that have put a serious pinch on nonessential purchases. I'm beginning to see a light at the end of the end of the dark tunnel of debt and that 1911 is out there waiting.

I ran the same Asus motherboard from 2005 until 2016. I replaced every other part of that computer except for the video card. The computer still worked when I retired it, but often I would need to turn it on at bedtime if I wanted to use it the next day. Bootup literally took hours even with a relatively recent OS install. I'm done building computers now as I highly value the aesthetics and space efficiency on the all-in-one units.

Lastly, I am waiting on the PF cap in orange without the button on the top.

Yup yup.

More free time would be nice too, but not at the expense of income... There is a wish list of stuff I'd like to buy that is about a mile long.

The only thing more annoying than being poor is being poor while the government tries to get a bunch of stuff you want banned or regulated... The clock is ticking on some of the things on that list. And of course there is the slight change of a foreign invasion later in the summer, be nice to have them mags ready to go for that. [emoji14] (Sort of an inside joke. The government is also busy updating legislation regarding national defense. One stated reason for their hurry to get that change done quickly is a neighbouring nation's scheduled military exercise near our border this summer. But then again, there has always been a threat of invasion from that nation. So, nothing new there, really.)

Well, I do have a new front sight for my PX4 en route (finally!). Never did find out in advance whether that sight will work for me or not, had to just buy the sight unseen (see what I did there?) and hope for the best. And I do hope that front sight will work out. It's not an inexpensive one by the time it ends up on the gun. But hey, at the very least it's unlikely to be any worse than the stock sight - and it has tritium. So yay!

10.25 inch barrel for my arx-100. It looks retarded with the 16 inch barrel. I'll have my brother in law keep it for me until the sbr stamp is approved

THAT deal- that gun behind the counter or on the table, at that price where you just have to buy it.
My 92D Centurion was one such, years ago. I hope to find another similar deal, but like hunting/fishing, one just has to keep at it.

Training, mostly: I have this class coming up end of June (https://pistol-forum.com/showthread.php?25103-Rangemaster-Courses-Washington-state), and a bunch of others I need to figure out if I can afford them, including a few that (hopefully) I can convince Mrs. Drang to take with me.

It'd be cool to find a Colt 6920 OEM locally, assuming the money was there.

Actually, come to think of it, what I am waiting on is my refund check from L3/EoTech...

I'm just waiting on some parts to build a compact AR.

Have a 10.5 Colt Canada barrel I've been meaning to use, and one of those NEA compact HK-type stocks. Just ordered a set of Aero upper/lower so I can start assembling the thing, which I've been putting off forever.

My Watson Special & IWB mag pouch for my Mk25 should be here any day now.
At the end of the month my bonus will hit and my Springfield Pro LR will come back home.

As for the wish list:
Some of the $250/k Blazer Brass 45 Auto that sgammo.com keeps advertising.
URX 3.1 13.5" & a TBD barrel to finish my spare AR.
More leather goods for my 1911s, P228 & Mk25/P226R...

Woot!! I just got my stamps back on three Form 4's. :)

This weekend I'll wander southward and pick them up. And grab some central Texas BBQ while I'm at it - gotta make a detour to Kreuz's while I am in the neighborhood.

Which ones?

A Dead Air Mask .22, the SilencerCo Harvester 7.62 and the AAC M4-2000 5.56 can.

I should be getting two more Dead Air Mask cans most ricky-tick, I bought them on the same day as the others.

Somewhere in the NFA aether, are a Dead Air Mask and Ghost-M.

I want a 320 Compact (or two...cause that's how I roll). I may have to release a 3rd level backup Glock to make that happen though.

I still have an irrational desire for an AUG.

I need to crap or get off the pot on SBRing my 107CR. I just struggle with the amount of cost /effort for how much shorter it ends up.

I'd like a revolver. Either in .45 Colt to match my lever gun or in .38/.357 (and then I'd like to have a matching lever gun for that...)

They've got order processing down pretty good these days. I tend to place my orders after 9pm EST and I can't think of the last time my order didn't ship the next business day.

I wish they made USPS Priority available as a shipping option though.

Yeah 9 days to me via UPS is crazy. I priority USPS box would have got here in three, and it would've been cheaper, to boot

Because it's you, I'll correct you: those are stocks. Grip is a verb, or a thing that shitty guns have.

Ya know, I used to think I was one of the few hold-outs to refer to wooden revolver stocks and 1911 stocks as "stocks". Fortunately I'm obviously not alone here. But I will note that even the manufacturer of the nice stocks being discussed refers to them as "grips". :)

Sorry, man. Just had to run through 3 mags in my backyard (legally and safely) when I took deliver from HansohnBrothers yesterday. Smooth transaction as always with HansohnBrothers, unlike many NFA dealers (my brother is currently getting screwed by one in Wyoming).

I know, I have been "waiting" on my mobo/cpu to die, but they won't die. So I'll have to retire them, which sucks because going through a complete reinstall is very annoying.

Maybe I'll start a new thread on this topic...
