Does anyone make Ammo specifically for SBR applications? In the 7-11 inch 5.56 or 11-12 .308?

I like TAP SBR a lot. Noticeable reduction in blast. Works well for me suppressed or unsuppressed.

What about flash? Have you had a chance to night shoot it?

In .223, this round is excellent - http://palmettostatearmory.com/speer-223-remington-75gr-gold-dot-ammunition-20rds-24475.html

Shoots extremely well out of my 16" and 11.5" BCMs.

Dusk, not full dark. Seemed lower flash from an 11.5" upper.

I agree that the Hornady 75 grain TAP SBR is softer shooting and suppresses better than most 5.56 loads, but take a look at these chrono numbers that I made:

All data points are 5-round averages +/- STD fired at 81F and 30 mmHg BP.

1) Hornady 5.56 TAP SBR 75 grain from 10.5" LMT MRP (1:7): 2169 +/- 7 fps.

2) Hornady TAP T2 from 10.5" LMT MRP (1:7): 2423 +/- 19 fps.

That is a 250 fps spread between 2 loads with identical mass from the same manufacturer. My BH 77 grain OTM and RA556B also run 250-300 fps faster from a 10.5" barrel than the Hornady SBR load.

Now, I subscribe to the philosophy of bullet construction trumps velocity, to a point. But this Hornady load makes me think that RA556B is not THAT much louder or brighter. In fact, I bet RA556B and 77 grain OTMs would probably equal the Hornady SBR load in terms of recoil and flash if Winchester or BH lightened their loads down to .223 velocities which is basically what you are getting with the TAP SBR.

Very interesting. Thanks for posting that.

For people? 77gr OTM.

Really nothing else I want to use, unless I can find that unobtainium 70gr tsx

Have you shot any of the Black Hills 70gr GMX?

Honestly...it doesn't really make that huge a difference. Good old "regular" even less expensive commercially loaded brass cased stuff works just fine in SBRs.

My SBR (a BCM with Surefire suppressor) runs all day long on the stuff and with a red dot optic, I can routinely get kill zone shots on torso sized targets out to 150 to 200 yards (no doubt further, but I have no drilled with it beyond 200 yards to comment).

Just ran about 40 rounds of Hornady Black SBR 5.56 through this 8.1" pistol

2 rapid fire 10 shot strings had an almost imperceptible orange glow at the muzzle (low fluorescent range lighting). Federal FC262 77gr, 62gr Magtech 5.56, and 55gr Magtech 5.56 all have volleyball size flash about every 3 rounds. Didn't really notice a difference in sound.
