Dead at 89. Posting because I'm sure there are others here with a childhood soft spot for his overtly-goofy brand of spydom. Maybe i'll go shoot my wartime PPK in his honor later today.

My strongest memories of him go back to when I was a kid and he played Simon Templar", "The Saint. Never cared for him as "Bond".

RIP.

RIP Roger. Cancer sucks. That makes him the first Bond actor to die. Love all the bond movies, every single one of them. I even consulted Roger when I looking to chop my 17 down to a 17k.

Clearly, he approved.

I knew there was something in the back of my mind I was forgetting from even earlier. "Ivanhoe" was the very first show I remember with Roger Moore which I watched as a kid in the late 50's.

He was hilarious in Cannon Ball Run

Add to that "The Wild geese" and there was another TV show he did with Tony Curtis, I can't remember its name.

I remember him most as the funny, goofy Bond.

Live and Let Die is one of my favorite Bond movies. Not sure if it was because of Sir Roger Moore or Jane Seymour ;)

May he rest in peace.

I agree, blues. The pure class that Roger Moore exuded in every other role couldn't make him Bond.

Well, David Niven and Barry Nelson Both played Bond originally (before Connery) in Casino Royal. So Moore is the third Bond to die. (I know, I know, they don't count that movie as canon..).

Moore was my first Bond. I remember seeing Moonraker at the theater. But For Your Eyes Only was my favorite as a kid. Melina Havalock had quite the effect on 11 year old me... sigh....

His guest appearance on the original "Muppet Show" was great fun.

Never took himself too seriously, and clearly enjoyed himself.

Brother from a different mother. To this day, she's the only reason I sort of want a crossbow. :D

RIP- 'tis a bit sobering when our childhood hero's pass on. Growing up is marvelous but sucks....

Thanks for the "clip of the night" as far as I'm concerned. I watched n loved ever minute, makes me wish I'd met him, seems to have a good sense of humor.

Actually, the "Casino Royale" with David Niven came out in '67. This was the same year Connery's fifth movie as 007 ("You Only Live Twice") came out.

Wow, exact same here. Something about For Your Eyes Only did it for me.

Crap... my bad... as cheesy as it looked, I simply assumed it was older. I forget "psychedelic" was a late 60s thing.

I went to highschool with a gal who looked exactly like her. Sadly, my low Charisma stats let me down.

Octopussy was my first intro to Bond, still one of my favorites.
