Seems pretty low profile, which also calls into question how useful it'll be. I'll probably buy two, anyway, because I like to bolt shit to my guns for the sake of having stuff on it.

So, I can't really see this well, but this doesn't appear to change the original mag well cross section, right?

Just kind of a bolt on 'guide' on the outside, as it were?

That's how all magwells work :)

Doesn't look all that low profile to my eyes.

No sir; I don't like it.

Maybe I've just got too many P30 reload reps in, but I don't see much benefit for the added material.

Looked pretty useless to me when I looked at the pics.

Installation was straight forward enough. Reloads don't feel any faster, but they feel certainly easier, as I have to put forth less effort toward aligning the magazine with the magwell (reloads were done dry, so no timer data; my usual reloads are about ~2.0 seconds from concealment against a 3"×5" index card at 7 yards). It feels like the magwell also helps lock the pinky in a bit better on the grip. As you can see from the second set of pictures, I would not recommend this magwell for regular magazines, as stripping them out would be tricky if you don't have any nails.

I would not recommend this magwell

While I regret quoting you out of context, that gap in the rear is gross. I assume it is required to accommodate all back strap sizes.

Zev Tech's PRO magwell makes a similar design compromise to work on both Gen 3 and 4 Glocks.

Other Glock magwell manufacturers either didn't bother accommodating all back straps (Sentinel/Raven) or made individual models for each back strap size (Agency).

Didn't do any live fire, but tried out this methodology: start with the slide locked back on an empty magazine, aimed at target, on timer buzz, reload, timer records when the slide dropped. Reloaded from an open carry magazine carrier to disregard possible garment clearing flubs, single snap cap in the reload mag, so no auto-forwarding occurs.

Using that method, I found that I'm typically in the low 1.3s when all goes well both with and without the magwell. However, I'm more likely to slightly misalign the reload without the magwell, usually catching the back of edge of the, uh... magazine insertion port (didn't want to use "magwell" due to possible confusion with the bolt-on magwell), which will push my times to about 1.5 as the magazine drags across the lip and into the proper position; with the magwell, slight misalignments cost me less time, usually in the low 1.4s, and misalignments happen a far bit less (probably 1 out of 20 instead of 1 out of 10 without the magwell). Gross misalignments will usually have me at about 1.7 to 2 seconds, and happened about equally both with and without the magwell.
