Thank you for the tip on the Roper stocks being made by Herretts. I will get a pair of them.

Good stuff, per usual. Looks like P-F was well represented in the tac-con shooting match; lots of familiar names in the three top 10 rosters.

Always worth a read.

I missed TacCon 17 to allocate my training budget to a much-needed foundational pistol class. Sounds like it was a great experience.

Tom,

Why does everyone recommend a B-8 Target for "The Test".
I would think that a B-16 target would have more gradations and thus be easier to track progress with.

The content in your newsletters is ALWAYS useful!

Question: when shooting The Test, do you always start at the closer distance, or can you start at 15? If there are no "rules" about this, which do you prefer and why?

Also, thanks for promoting the Civilian Gunfighter blog!

I normally start at 5 yards and work my out to 15, but you can do it any way you want.

I do it that way to remind my brain

if the target is closer, I have to work faster

if the target is further away, I have to refine the sight alignment and trigger control.

Shooting at 5, then 10, then 15 helps ingrain that balance of speed and accuracy.
